Just north of Cortez, we are ideally located in the heart of the northern Four Corners region—only 15 minutes to Mesa Verde National Park, 20 minutes to Canyons of the Ancients, 10 minutes to Phil’s World, and 30 minutes to the mountains for hiking, biking, or fishing. Cortez markets and restaurants are just 10 minutes away. Durango is an hour away, Telluride is 1½ hours, and Moab is 2 hours. We are naturalists, so if you have questions about birds, dragonflies, butterflies, or fireflies (yes, fireflies!), such as the best places to see them besides your campsite, just ask us! We also worked in the field of archaeology and can help you choose sites to visit—like Mesa Verde National Park or Canyons of the Ancients. We encourage you to connect with the natural world as well as the ancient cultures of this region. Four Corners' Dragonfly Camp exists on the ancestral lands of the Puebloan and Ute peoples. This is a dry site—please bring your own water and toilet. Showers are available at the Cortez Recreation Center, just 10 minutes away. Further down Road G is Hovenweep National Monument where you can view Pueblo ruins precariously built on top of boulders and canyon rims. At the end of the day, stop by our neighbor Sutcliffe Vineyards for year-round local wine tasting. It's just 15 minutes to the entrance gate at Mesa Verde National Park, designated in April of 2021 as the 100th Dark Sky Park by the International Dark Sky Association. Take a scenic two mile drive to historic Downtown Mancos, to find art, dining, and fun. Historic Mancos, known for its thriving creative district, is the home of the The Raven House Gallery, The Artisans of Mancos Co-op, The Painted Turtle Gallery, Bombdiggity, and Kilgore American Indian Art. Downtown Mancos is also home to dining options from local food trucks to fine dining. It doesn’t take long after pulling off onto the road that leads to Kelly Place to notice that you are now on sacred grounds. We only spent 2 nights there, but that was enough to get the understanding that this was a place of uniquenesses that held a certain amount of powers. I’m yet uncertain how long it might take to come to grips with it what’s held there, but I’m very grateful for the time allotted and will soon return for a deeper connection. If you have a spiritual side to yourself and this comes up on your radar, by all means necessary book it and thank not only me later, but more importantly those that have taken the oath to keep this spirit alive and well. 5,000 ⭐️’s is the rating if possible. What a gem! We had a fabulous, relaxing stay in the Lavender Wagon. Travis and Katie were wonderful hosts who made us feel like we were at home. Loved the tour of the property, loved learning lavender facts, and breakfast was delicious both mornings. Will definiately recommend to others!

Loved it! A high open plain ringed with mountains: Mesa Verde and Ute close, Telluride, San Juans and Bears Ears on the horizon. Immaculately clean and generous kitchen and dining/hanging out areas. The tent/RV sites are very basic but the rest makes up. Great hosts, dark sky. Didn’t see inside the cabins but the hogan was lovely.

It is a remote space and you feel so small being surrounded by the mountains. Love this open, vast area that holds a space for people to be in nature safely. The kitchen is well stocked with goodies. Everything is a quick stroll away from the teepee. The bathroom has adorable art and quotes on the wall to brighten the space up. Our teepee was warm, spacious and cozy! It rained over night and listening to the rain hit the teepee was calming. Wish we were here for two nights, but we had a quick over night stay. Love this spot and would totally come back.

I loved dry camping at Mexican Hat Rocks! What a gorgeous site! The individual campsites are well-marked. It appeared an access gate was being installed during our stay, which is good. Several cars pulled off beyond the large area next to the road and drove into the campground to park in the roads and empty campsites to take photos. That's an issue the access gate will solve. Fantastic experience overall!
