Our 15 acres butts up against some BLM land offering more terrain to explore in the buff. When you’re done exploring, cool off with a skinny dip in our 16’ x 32’ above ground pool. Or just lounge in the sun and work on your tan.

We are in the rural area between Hesperus, Durango, and Mancos - An easy drive to Durango and its thrift shops, restaurants, galleries, cafes, Animas River and River Trail, and hiking and biking trails. Mancos is filled with art galleries, a wonderful bakery and cafe, beauty, and endless trails. You will also see the wild critters that inhabit our corner of La Plata County. You are welcome to wander our property beyond the Big Stick Ditch but do not go into the pasture with our burro or enter any of the out buildings.
Park within steps of the Art Shack, cross the foot bridge over the bubbling irrigation ditch, and you have arrived!

There is electricity, a queen bed, rustic chairs inside, an outdoor table and chairs, a composting toilet, a coffee machine, and purified drinking water for your use. An electric heater is supplied during winter months. There is no air conditioning.
We are available if needed (unless we are out of town adventuring) but will not expect to interact with you as you relax.

Your private Bathhouse offers two sinks, two showers, two toilets, an outdoor shower and an outdoor sink for your dishes. The Orchard, with its young fruit trees and wildflowers, is your private garden.
The Property
You'll have access to roam much of this 38 acre property which includes a hay farm, cliffside and clifftop trail and a section of McElmo Creek. We just ask that folks stay away from the private residence on site, which is well-marked.
We love pets and kids but due to the Wildlife with a capital W (and the occasional skunk) with whom we share this land we must limit our guests to humans ages 8 and up.
Southwest Colorado is a land of extremes. We get hot, cold and everything in between. The tents are canvas so we offer electric blankets and small space heaters for colder days, and fans for the warmer days. And in advance, we apologize for the high cleaning fee. When you're here you'll understand why with the large showerhouse and all its windows, the large canvas tents and big decks, etc.

Weekend Trip to Lavender Farm Bed and Breakfast
If you’re in the Durango area definitely spend some time at Travis and Katie’s lavender farm. It’s absolutely stunning!! I enjoyed two nights in the wagon, and a delicious breakfast served promptly at 8:00 a.m. each morning. I volunteered during the harvest and met some lovely humans during the process. Take the farm tour, walk among the lavender and flower fields, sit in the blue chair on the edge of the canyon to read a book or just admire the landscape, and purchase some lovely lavender products to take home; a reminder of this special place. You will feel welcomed from the moment you arrive and leave feeling relaxed and recharged.

1 night at Lavender Farm Bed and Breakfast
Beautiful people, property, natural environment and vision! I enjoyed meeting Travis and Katie, both so passionate about what they're building at Mesa Verde Lavender Farm. The accommodations reminded me of my old VW camper van--although not quite as small--but definitely cozy and well-equipped. Best part was the lavender, soft mounds bursting with purple rays, attracting bees and spraying love everywhere. Go when temperatures are a bit cooler if you can. Intense summer heat was a tad uncomfortable. But I'd sure go again for an evening of contemplation with flowers and the canyon!

My seven year old and I booked our stay at this lovely camp for two nights, extended for an third, and wish we were staying longer.
This local family owned and operated camp has truly been an oasis of birds and deer, really close to town yet feels far away in the best way.
We had dinner every night at delicious restaurants on Main Street, did laundry nearby at a clean, friendly laundromat, and filled up with gas, ice, and groceries in the stores.
We took day trips to Mesa Verde, Bisti Badlands, and Chaco Canyon while here. Had we stayed one more day, we would have enjoyed fishing nearby.
We would definitely stay here again!

The lavendar farm is truly a dream getaway! Traivs and Katie are amazings hosts, grateful for those incredible humans! Whether you want to enjoy the sauna and gorgeous views on their property, explore Mesa Verde National Park, or just stop and smell the lavendar on the farm, time spent at the lavendar farm is always rejuvenating!

We ended up in this great place near Mesa Verde, Bright Star Campground. My son and I were on a wild camping trip and wanted to avoid the 4th of July frenzy, and looked for something different. Different is what we got. It felt like we entered a different dimension. The views were amazing, to the south the Mesa of Mesa Verde overlooking the valley. On the north side, the smoke plumes from the fire raging to the Northwest of us. Kent, the campground owner, was so nice; he had some friends over visiting for the 4th, and everybody else there seemed like part of one big family, although they had never met. There was a fully equipped kitchen available, showers, bathrooms, tipis, RV parking, and even a rooftop DJ station where one of his friends was going to play music for the 4th. It felt like a taste of what a commune would feel like. What a great vibe.
Our spot felt private, and having access to the fully equipped kitchen made it extra special. Showers and toilets available and in great condition. I cannot say enough about the greatness of this place, and what stood out most was the vibe. It is peaceful and wholesome. We highly recommend this little paradise, and we will be back, for shuuuurrreeee. Thank you, Kent.

2 nights at Lavender Farm Bed and Breakfast
We had the best time in the wagon at the lavender farm! It was right before harvest so the lavender was beautiful and blooming. Katie & Travis are excellent hosts and the property was so peaceful! We would 100% recommend staying and visiting the farm!

This place has a great location, stunning views and a fun, peaceful vibe. The hosts were very kind and understanding about a booking mistake I made. The communal kitchen is a great resource. Do pay attention to the description about heating and cooling which the hosts provide. Our cabin did get very hot during the day.

The sites at Zuma Bike Ranch are secluded and level, perfect for any camping situation especially for our Sprinter van. The bathroom was super clean. We did not use the shower, but that is a great amenity! Jake's directions were super clear, making Zuma Bike Ranch easy to find! We were left stickers on our site post which was awesome! We would definitely stay at Zuma Bike Ranch again next time we are looking to ride at Phil's World!

Excellent site and would highly recommend! Beautiful property, felt very private and full hookups. Location was great for our trip. Close to towns with services and great breweries and quick drive to Mesa Verde National Park. We will definitely stay again if we are in the region!

Really great facilities — well organized and well managed.
This site is great for car camping — with clean bathrooms, showers and communal kitchen. Easy to stop by quickly or stay for a while. Rec room style amenities for socializing + kids.
This is not a totally remote property, so if being neighborhood adjacent will bother you just FYI. Proximity to town convenient tho + doesn’t diminish the views!

THIS is the glamping spot! It didn’t look like much when we drove up, but it held so much good energy, people, and fun! We stayed 2 nights in the Raven tipi. It was beyond expectations with a super comfy king bed, a power station for charging, flashlights, great decor & rugs, and a thoughtful piece of plastic for any areas that might get wet when it rains. It’s a real tipi so there is an hole at the top. We got down pours both days but things stayed dry since they provided what we needed in case of rain. The kitchen had everything you needed (plus) and was a great gathering spot to meet other explorers. They had the cleanest looking and smelling bathrooms I’ve ever seen in public and they are compost toilets! The coolest billiards room, ping pong table, fuse ball, painting supplies, games, and great people, especially the hosts Kent & Brandy. This is a ten out of five stars must-stay if you’re going to Mesa Verde or anywhere in the 4 corners area!

the bright star campground host is very nice. our campsite was changed since it rained hard and campsite #1 is very muddy. we are moved to sunset campsite without extra fee. Just Kent is very kind and helpful. i would rebook this camp site if needed on the future
