Nestled at the base of Hayden Peak, the campground is located in a meadow encircled by old-growth aspen forests. Elk and deer are frequent visitors to our campground. Wildflowers abound here and night skies are full of stars. There is a level deck for eating, cooking, and relaxing. It includes a table that seats 8 and a stainless cooking surface, sink and Camp Chef stove. The area is completely off-the-grid so the camping is rugged. There is no cell reception, electricity, or water on site. Please pack it in, pack it out to keep the grounds as lovely as they were when you arrived. Such a great spot not far from Durango!! Jake was welcoming and his dogs were wonderful. I was there for a mtn biking clinic, enjoyed all the skill features. A great spot to camp and ride.

We had a nice stay at this family friendly campground while we visited Mesa Verde National Park. It is a good location for accessing the park and had clean facilities.

We loved Sunrise campsite. Electricity included. We loved the sunrise in the morning and the shade in the evening. Bathhouses has great HOT showers. There were Bible verses on the sidewalks. The community space with kitchen was such a nice treat!

Beautiful and very private campsite. My husband declared this the best place we’ve ever camped. As others mentioned, it is about 1 mile up a gravel driveway to reach the house and the campsite. We tow a 5000 pound two axle trailer, and didn’t have any issues going up or down.We used the water and electric hook ups, which worked great. I think there was sewer on site, but it didn’t appear to be in the same area as the others. Host was very communicative and very much left us to ourselves. It was wonderful to be so close to Durango and not in a large RV campsite.

2 nights at Junction West Durango

I loved the amenities of the campground and glamping cabin. We booked this as a break from tent camping during a trip to the Colorado national parks and it had everything we needed. The proximity of the cabin to the river made the site feel private and peaceful. The cabin was clean and the bed was comfortable. There is no air conditioning in the cabin so it could get hot during the day but stayed cool at night. I would recommend to anyone and stay again!

Communication with the host was great. They were responsive and communicative especially knowing I would be arriving after hours. The information for my site was easy to find and I was able to get set up with no issues upon arrival. The site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and enough space for my SUV, tent and there was plenty extra room should I have had extra persons in my party. Many of the neighbors had hammocks hanging as well. The campground itself offers bathrooms and hot water showers (yesssss). And the in-site store had everything I could’ve needed. It’s a beautiful spot right near the water and close to town. It was a perfect stay after a day spent in Mesa Verde followed by a soak in Durango Hot Springs. I would definitely stay here again.

1 night at Bright Star Campground

We stayed in the Mustang Tipi. It was an amazing experience! The grounds are full of things to do ... we played ping pong and sat on the swing set to watch the sunset. Everyone (guests) were friendly and the vibe was laid back. The check in process is easy and you cannot beat the night sky! My kids are already asking to come back again and stay for longer. Absolutely recommend!

Great location just about 15 minutes from town. The setting was lovely and we were able to say hello to the resident horses and donkeys. Linda was a wonderful host!

Gorgeous, serene view! Mary was attentive to my messages. I brought a 15 ft trailer and the road in was bumpy and steep. Worth it if you wanna get away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to Telluride (which was such a cool town). I’d come back here for sure.

Weekend Trip to Bright Star Campground

Great spot at Zuma Bike Ranch. Easy access to trails and we had the campground to ourselves! The best part was the lovely outdoor shower!

We loved the scenery and the solitude of the location being close to Mesa Verde, and also away from any crowds. The host was super helpful, and the amenities and space met all of our needs. It’s very family friendly with games and a communal area. The kitchen was well-equipped and the bathhouses were nice. Great sunrise and sunsets!

Weekend Trip to MSB Legacy Retreat

We certainly recommend MSB Legacy Retreat. The sites are very well prepared, pleasant to be in, very clean, secure, and easy to access. When staying here, it becomes obvious that a lot of care and thought has gone into these accommodations. It's a lovely setting. Communication was A++. We enjoyed our brief stay and knew that our enjoyment of the site was important to them. We will be looking for an opening again in the future whenever we are staying in the area.

Weekend Trip to Junction West Durango

Beautiful, clean, and well-maintained campground. We felt safe and comfortable during our stay. Even with a tent spot near the pool area, our site was peaceful and quiet. We'll stay here again!

Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent a SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir. Junction West Durango

History of JW Durango Riverside Resort It all started in 1965… When this campground hosted its first guests the goal back then was simply to offer folks from around the Four Corners a place to relax and lounge along the Animas River. Today, the property boasts 73 quality RV sites, 24 cabins and 6 tent sites. We also have a heated pool, playground, convenience store, retail shop, game room, café with a large deck for dining, laundry room, paved roadways, two bath houses, and an observation deck overlooking the Animas. The property sits just south of Bakers Bridge, a local landmark made famous as the set of the climactic finale in the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” – where Paul Newman and Robert Redford sat along the rocky cliffs that line the river before they famously took the plunge. As the lifeblood of this community, the Animas River winds its way under that bridge and south toward historic downtown Durango. Hartwork Ranch

A beautiful 40 acre ranch on Hastings Mesa with views of Alder Canyon and Hayden’s Peak. You can hear Alder Creek flowing through the canyon from the comfort of your campsite. Many nearby options for bicycling, hiking, kayaking and skiing in the area. Once you pull out the driveway you are a few minutes from Last Dollar Ranch Road (hike, bike, or 4x4) and about a 25 minute drive to Telluride, 30 minutes to Ridgway, and 30 minutes to Norwood. Just outside of Ridgway is Orvis Hot Springs, and more hot springs can be found in Ouray. The property offers access to Alder Creek and our beaver ponds down in the canyon. The fields are blanketed with Iris and clematis flowers in May and June and other wild flowers throughout the summer including pentstemon, larkspur, and wild roses. There are patches of scrub oak and fields with cinquefoil bushes in the camping areas, and as you go down in the canyon there’s aspen groves, blue spruce, and ponderosa pines. We raise ducks for eggs, so there are usually duck eggs available.
