I am not one with words, but if you read one review, read this one. We arrived and Rick was full of stories and information about the property. He took us to our site (4 wheel drive is a MUST!) which was amazing. He allowed us to rearrange the picnic table and fire ring to our liking. The next morning Rick set our eggs out that we purchased through him at 6am. We went fishing and caught four 2-2.8 pounders. It was amazing! That sunset I took the photography class presented by Rick. It was wonderful. Got a lot of information and he took me to some pretty spots I had not seen before. That evening it rained and stormed. Our tent collapsed and our gear was soaked. This was my first time camping, and because the amazing time Rick provided I am hooked!!!!
The animals coming in to my camp was unforgettable and seeing my dogs swim in the ponds, those are memories I’ll never forget! Thank you Rick for having such a beautiful, well maintained and kept up property! Me and my family will be back!!!!

We loved Rick’s place with the great fishing and friendly horses. It was a bit muddy with all the rain but we still had a great time and Rick was a great host. We will definitely be back.

Such a great spot so close to Dallas! Nice spread out campsites, plenty of space to explore and search for the horses. Our daughters loved the horses and especially Willie the mule - they are all friendly and we had no worries about safety when around the horses/mules/donkeys. Rick is super nice and helpful and made us feel welcome and comfortable on his land. Would love to come back!

Overall a good spot not too far from Dallas. While there are other sites nearby, and there is some road noise, the other sites are mostly further away, and broken by trees, and the noise isn’t bad at all. I would recommend this spot if you have kids - mine loved the horses, mules, and donkeys, and the chance to explore on their own!

I've visited this spot several times now, and I still absolutely love it! The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and the company of friendly horses and donkeys make it a special place to unwind. The animals are a highlight for me—if you're into it, they’re always around to greet you, but if you'd rather have some space, just give them a little room and they’ll happily wander off on their own. It’s the perfect balance of nature and tranquility.

What a great host! Great property if you’re looking to get away and relax. You’ll love the cool breeze under the Pecan trees. Rick was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Great guy to talk to. We’ll be back.

Rick was awesome. I made a last minute decision to get out of town and am so glad that I did. My pups and I got some much needed outdoor time and a good campfire. The sunset was spectacular and waking up to the horses was a definite bonus. I'm definitely going to come back with my son.

I had to leave before i could stay the night fully, but Rick was very hospitable throughout the whole day, understanding of my situation, and informative. It was very therapeutic just staying at the campsite in general, exploring the acrage, and seeing the animals come and go. I definitely recommend!

As one of my favorite HipCamp locations, this location has spots that caters to the type of camping you are looking for. I’ve done smaller enclosed spots at this location but always enjoy the wide open areas that remain private.

This was such an amazing experience! Rick, the host, greeted every camper that came in and welcomed us with the most thought-out, full-color guides to the property I’ve ever seen. 2 sheets had all the info you’d need for exploring, emergency procedures, and contact info. The other was a beautiful picture guide for the horses/donkeys/mule (Willie the Mule is always a big hit—total social butterfly!) with their names so you could call/talk to them by name. They make a trek across the property following the sun, slowly grazing their way thru so they’ll pass by campsites at least a couple times during the day.Total sweethearts!
The sites are quite spaced out—easy decision to forego crowded state campgrounds. Plus, traveling 99% of the time with my [well behaved] furry companion, it was fantastic to wander around the grounds with him following the many donkey paths through the forested areas back and forth over the water. Gave him lots to smell and explore alongside me. Thought I’d leave at some point to explore the town, but there was plenty to keep us occupied on those 100 acres.
Here’s the best part: YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT TICKS/CHIGGERS. I mean, wow.
The sulphur in the river a couple miles away makes the land inhospitable to them! Verified!
Rick makes himself accessible to anyone if they need anything, and is a hoot to talk with if you get the opportunity.
We went for the eclipse (PERFECT property for viewing!), but we’ll go back for the sheer beauty and peace.

My husband, brother, housemate, and almost two-year-old had a lovely time staying here in a rented travel trailer. We woke up to horses grazing just outside our window! The land is gorgeous, we wandered around trying to befriend donkeys (which didn’t work haha, we had more luck with the horses), and Rick was an organized and responsive host. I would definitely stay again if I’m in the area!

Rick was a warm and welcoming host. The space was large and great for my me, my husband, and our dog. There was lots of room to run around and although there were other campers, we still felt like we had enough space and privacy. The land is beautiful and it was fun to see the donkeys and horses. They did well keeping their distance from us and our dog and it seems like they are very used to visitors, both human and canine alike.

It was an awesome experience to camp on Rick's land; a very friendly and welcoming owner, and a lot of space; you will not be bothered by the neighbors 😁. We were there to watch the eclipse of April 2024, but I doubt Rick will be able to make it happen for you again 😂.
Rick's ranch has a lot to offer. Horses and donkeys are freely grazing on the large grassy prairie and occasionally come to say hi. The land has a small pond and creeks populated with frogs surrounded by centenary pecan trees. This is the perfect place to relax and reconnect with the slower pace of nature, with your kids, or not.

Rick was very accommodating. We ended up changing our plans at the last minute and weren’t able to make it there, but we would definitely like to next time we are in the area.

We loved Rick's place! Eden #1 was just what we needed to relax and prepare for the eclipse. Rick was very responsive, helpful, and friendly. His welcome packets were great, especially for the kids.
We tried to leave the campsite better than we found it, but it was so clean when we got there, that it wasn't really possible. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Beautiful property. Spacious. Lovely host. We really enjoyed our stay. Horses were fun and friendly. The dogs loved being able to explore. Sunsets were gorgeous. Rick found a great spot for our coach. The wood we got cooked lunch, dinner, and s'mores. In fact we even had hot coals if we had wanted to use them for breakfast. It was a relaxing. If you want repeat visits from the herd, bring lots of carrots.
