Overview

About

Located on one of the country’s largest human made reservoirs, North Toledo Bend State Park is your wellspring for water and land-based recreational opportunities. There are over 900 acres that include two hiking/biking trails, and for anglers, a double-ramp boat launch and fish cleaning station that are mighty handy for the freshwater fishing competitions that attract people from all over the nation. Paddleboats and canoes are also available for rental.

For the less ruggedly inclined, the park also provides a Olympic-size swimming pool and meeting rooms that can be used for group functions. Nearby attractions include Rebel State Historic Site (with concerts featuring gospel, country and folk music) and the historic town of Natchitoches (the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase).

When to go

The ideal time to visit North Toledo Bend State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak. Summer months can be quite warm, making early morning or late evening the best times for outdoor activities. Winters are generally mild, but it's wise to check for any seasonal park advisories before planning your trip.
