Primitive camping on Caddo Lake is an experience like no other. Spanning 25,400 acres, the naturally formed fresh water lake gracefully crosses from Louisiana into Texas and is home to the largest cypress forest in the world.
The area on which this camp is located is rich in history--once the dwelling place of Caddo Indians who were known for their basket weaving and pottery skills. The site was part of the land acquired by the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.
Caddo Lake has a unique ecosystem and is a high quality habitat for many species, including migratory and resident waterfowl, osprey, eagles, alligators, and many species of fish. It is considered to be a valuable water system and Texas' only wetland of international importance.
Kayaks, canoes, and peddle boats may be launched from the shore.
Visitors will want to be familiar with Louisiana State Laws concerning boating and fishing, including those that apply to children. Fires are permitted unless there is a Parish mandated burn ban in effect.

The History of the Station
Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998.
It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021
after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again.
Desiring to preserve and improve our community’s heritage of service to travelers and trades, the depot is being restored and will serve as the RV Park office.

If you must cancel your reservation, please call us
at least 2 days prior to your arrival date to cancel

rebook your stay, or issue a partial refund.

a 7 day cancellation notice is required for some holidays,
special events, and whole campground bookings.
•Rental payments must be made in advance or upon arrival.
ACCOMMODATIOS AND ACTIVITIES
•Check-out time is 11:00am
•Quite hours are from 10pm to 8am.
•Speed limit is 5MPH
•Only on RV and two other vehicles are allowed per site.
they must be clean and good condition regardless of age.
•Sites must be kept clean. A dumpster is available for bagged trash.
•A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required.
•Campfires are allowed only in fire pits or grills that are raised
and contain the fire. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent.
•The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must
not be given out to anyone of your party.
•Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
while outside your RV at all times.
•Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb
other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control,
and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to
immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins
are available for waste.
•Use of generations is prohibited, expect during
a power storage.
•Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park
is prohibited.
•Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot
(office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.)
•Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY
•To the extent permitted by law, user hereby indemnifies,
releases and agrees to protect and hold harmless
avinger station, its officers, owners, employees,
and agents ('avinger station parties"), from and against all
claims, causes of action, and/or liability arising out of or
related to user's use of the RV site, campground's property,
and/or any condition thereon, without limit and wihtout
regard to the cause or causes thereof or the gross negligence
of avinger station parties.

This is a quite spot in east texas. There’s woods on one side of us and a cattle/ quarter horse ranch on the other. We have calm red angus cattle on the property and their guard donkeys. If you’d like to feed them just let us know! You can fish near by at a public fishing spot. We will eventually be able to offer fishing on the property, we are working on stocking. If there ends up being an interest in hunting we can look into that. This is a primitive site so bring your gear! Mount Pleasant and New Boston are about 30 minutes away with restaurants and shopping.

This place was absolutely wonderful. What a find for a one night stop/road trip. From the amazing ease of checking in, to our cute little Welcome packet then add a super clean bathroom, laundry facilities and even an exercise room?! Wow! And they even had a well stocked library that was organized!!
I would say this great place is better suited to RVers. That's not to say it's not amazing for a 1 to 2 night stay for us tent people.

The bathhouse & laundry rooms were just like being hosted at a personal residence- clean & well appointed. The layout of the sites allowed a feeling of privacy. David suggested a nice walk with our pups, up the hill to the old cemetery & a great view So glad we found this safe & convenient park.

The tent site was very cozy, close to the water. There were lots of frogs singing when I arrived around 10 pm. There was a concrete pad I could park my motorcycle on.

Phildon was super communicative wven when not on site. Recommended a perfect available pitch and answered all questions quickly. My tip would be to aak for WiFi password before arrival as we had zero signal with Verizon and had to drive out to get supplies and a signal. We did not use the bathrooms or laundry facilities so cannot comment on those. Hook up was 50 amps. Phildon had an 50-30 adaptor if required but we had our own. Lovely little spot in the Bayou.

Great location in a beautiful country area. Lots of shade and quiet road. I found the circle drive easy to maneuver for parking. Both elect and water hook up available. Clear directions, comfortable setting, great host communication and very reasonable price, close to amenities. It's probably not a good area to off-leash a dog since it's close to a road and no fencing but location was very close to a nice and spacious dog park.

Nice quiet out of the way campsite with several spots to choose from. Sit and watch the lazy water drift by on the bayou as you listen to the frogs from the backwater creek. This was a peaceful stop for us and the host was accommodating, helpful, and informative. There is a shower house and laundry as well as WiFi, and full hook ups. We highly recommend this site. Easily fit a 35 foot rig. It was surprisingly easy to get to.

Hart was great!! My boys and I absolutely loved the campsite out on the jetty. It was clean and had multiple locations for tents. The water access was perfect and plenty of fish were biting. Wonderful little place to stay. We stayed for one evening with our 3 dogs. Michael was extremely accommodating and welcoming. Cabin has everything you need for a relaxing trip; cozy, warm and inviting. Area is rural and private and perfect for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle. We had 2WD vehicles and did just fine. I recommend getting there before dark, as the road is easier when you can see well. It’s very hard to find places that accept pets, so this was a gem for us. Definitely out of the way, so bring whatever you need. Highly recommended. Thank you to Michael and his family for hosting us.

Barefoot Gee’s is the hidden gem of the camping world. If you are like myself, you long for a full hookup camping spot all by yourself, nestled in the East Texas woods with nobody to share your perfect spot with. If so, then look no further. Linda is an awesome host and has a perfect spot for everyone to enjoy. I have found my spot and will be booking it as much as I can, so you better get there before I do.
