Primitive camping on Caddo Lake is an experience like no other. Spanning 25,400 acres, the naturally formed fresh water lake gracefully crosses from Louisiana into Texas and is home to the largest cypress forest in the world.
The area on which this camp is located is rich in history--once the dwelling place of Caddo Indians who were known for their basket weaving and pottery skills. The site was part of the land acquired by the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.
Caddo Lake has a unique ecosystem and is a high quality habitat for many species, including migratory and resident waterfowl, osprey, eagles, alligators, and many species of fish. It is considered to be a valuable water system and Texas' only wetland of international importance.
Kayaks, canoes, and peddle boats may be launched from the shore.
Visitors will want to be familiar with Louisiana State Laws concerning boating and fishing, including those that apply to children. Fires are permitted unless there is a Parish mandated burn ban in effect.

The History of the Station
Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998.
It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021
after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again.
Desiring to preserve and improve our community’s heritage of service to travelers and trades, the depot is being restored and will serve as the RV Park office.

RESERVATIONS, RATES AND PAYMENTS
•Every guest and reservation is important.
If you must cancel your reservation, please call us
at least 2 days prior to your arrival date to cancel
your reservation to recieve a full refund.
If you cancel with less that 2 days notice, we can
rebook your stay, or issue a partial refund.
•Rates and policies are subject to change and may vary.
a 7 day cancellation notice is required for some holidays,
special events, and whole campground bookings.
•Rental payments must be made in advance or upon arrival.
ACCOMMODATIOS AND ACTIVITIES
•Check-out time is 11:00am
•Quite hours are from 10pm to 8am.
•Speed limit is 5MPH
•Only on RV and two other vehicles are allowed per site.
they must be clean and good condition regardless of age.
•Sites must be kept clean. A dumpster is available for bagged trash.
•A sewer hose "donut" or "L" connector is required.
•Campfires are allowed only in fire pits or grills that are raised
and contain the fire. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent.
•The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must
not be given out to anyone of your party.
•Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
while outside your RV at all times.
•Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb
other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control,
and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to
immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins
are available for waste.
•Use of generations is prohibited, expect during
a power storage.
•Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park
is prohibited.
•Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot
(office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.)
•Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY
•To the extent permitted by law, user hereby indemnifies,
releases and agrees to protect and hold harmless
avinger station, its officers, owners, employees,
and agents ('avinger station parties"), from and against all
claims, causes of action, and/or liability arising out of or
related to user's use of the RV site, campground's property,
and/or any condition thereon, without limit and wihtout
regard to the cause or causes thereof or the gross negligence
of avinger station parties.

If you are like myself, you long for a full hookup camping spot all by yourself, nestled in the East Texas woods with nobody to share your perfect spot with. If so, then look no further. Linda is an awesome host and has a perfect spot for everyone to enjoy. I have found my spot and will be booking it as much as I can, so you better get there before I do.

Had a great time here! The area was spacious, camp fire and tire swing along with grill area in great locations. Host was super nice as well as her pup who my dog got along with and that's saying something because she likes her personal space. Her dog was a great watch dog of the area, showing my dog around the area and he spent time around my camp area which was nice. Great scenery and I would definitely stay here the next time I want to visit East Tx and go camping 😀

I loved camping on Will and Austyn's land. They met us with a warm hello a tour upon arrival. The tent was located towards the back of the property, tucked away nicely. We had the whole camp to ourselves, which was GREAT! We wanted a nice and quiet trip, which is what we got. The tent itself was cozy. Before we arrived, Will and Austyn set up our tent and bathroom area with heaters, turned on and ready to go. That was an AMAZING touch. The night we arrived, the low was 25 degrees. But it actually got hot in the tent, I was sweating. They also provided an electric blanket! Again, a wonderful touch that they didnt have to provide.
The wifi was Great! If you want to unplug completely, great. But we needed the service for Emergency calls back home.
The community kitchen was great! It had almost everything we needed. The bathroom was warm because of the space heater and fully stocked with essentials!
Now a couple of things to think about:
If you're a coffee drinker, bring k cups. Thats what was inside the tent. Or it will be a process to use the French press. Personally, not my thing, but im a HUGE coffee drinker.
The kitchen isnt heated, so cooking was painful the first night only because it was so cold. But the soup we made was worth it.
Spiders... everywhere. Lol its expected... only daddy long legs but be aware if you a terrified of spiders like myself.
Lighting in the tent was low, bring a lantern! Theres a spot to hang one.
All in all it was WONDERFUL! WILL be back!

Thanksgiving weekend, our first Hipcamp stay. The site is as described and perfect for our visit. Not having sewer hookups is a non-issue if you manage water usage. There is a CEFCO gas station a few miles south on hwy 259 that has an rv dump station for a small fee. We did not meet the host but she was quick to respond to our emails. Thank you Adrienne for the stay.

We had a great time. The site was nice with a big stone for ring and a soft bed if pine needles. The host, Linda, was very accommodating and responded quickly to communications and made the trip stress free.
We loved Porter the goat, Andy the big lovable dog and Molly the little friendly dog. Andy and Porter slept outside of our tent and it was adorable.
The location of pretty with some room to explore.

This is a gravel parking lot that is sizable, has power hookups, has water hookup, and sewer hookup, and a huge shade tree.
This is in the city, so there is traffic constantly by the spot, but it is peaceful enough to get rest if you're traveling through, on the way to somewhere else.
Richard was a wonderful host, and actually met me at the spot to make sure that I could get in and situated. It was very appreciated.
Since I was parked under the shade tree for the proximity to the power hookup, my starlink barely worked because of the obstruction overhead. This is not the host's fault, it's just how it was, and I'm letting everyone know if you've got Starlink, this may be an impediment to your connection.

Great quiet little spot. Will definitely be back. I would warn that it is a tight fit for larger RVs. Mine is 27’ and I arrived at night so it was a little tricky getting in. I recommend entering the north entrance. The spot its self was spacious and the host was very nice.

This was an amazing stay. Her property is wooded and you feel secluded. She took the time to show me around and find my spot. She is a very good host. I will be going back.
