Primitive camping on Caddo Lake is an experience like no other. Spanning 25,400 acres, the naturally formed fresh water lake gracefully crosses from Louisiana into Texas and is home to the largest cypress forest in the world. The area on which this camp is located is rich in history--once the dwelling place of Caddo Indians who were known for their basket weaving and pottery skills. The site was part of the land acquired by the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. Caddo Lake has a unique ecosystem and is a high quality habitat for many species, including migratory and resident waterfowl, osprey, eagles, alligators, and many species of fish. It is considered to be a valuable water system and Texas' only wetland of international importance. Kayaks, canoes, and peddle boats may be launched from the shore. Visitors will want to be familiar with Louisiana State Laws concerning boating and fishing, including those that apply to children. Fires are permitted unless there is a Parish mandated burn ban in effect.

Avinger Station RV Park The History of the Station Established in 1876 as a Railroad Depot Avinger Station operated as such until the mid 20th century. After being put out to pasture, the depot was rescued from oblivion as a barn and brought back to Avinger in 1998. It was moved to a more prominent location near its original site in June of 2021 after pondering how the depot might serve the community once again. Breeo fire pits and grills are available for rent. •The code for use of the bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room) must not be given out to anyone of your party. •Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while outside your RV at all times. •Only 2 pets are allowed per RV and must not disturb other guests. Pets outside must be on leash, under control, and not left unattended. Pet owners are responsible to immediately picl up after their pets. Plastic bags and bins are available for waste. •Use of generations is prohibited, expect during a power storage. •Washing or changing oil of vehicles in the park is prohibited. •Smoking is prhohibited inside avinger station's depot (office, cafe, and museum) and bridge (laundromat, bath, and exercise room.) •Do unto othere as you would have them do unto you. This is a quite spot in east texas. There’s woods on one side of us and a cattle/ quarter horse ranch on the other. We have calm red angus cattle on the property and their guard donkeys. If you’d like to feed them just let us know! You can fish near by at a public fishing spot. We will eventually be able to offer fishing on the property, we are working on stocking. If there ends up being an interest in hunting we can look into that. This is a primitive site so bring your gear! Mount Pleasant and New Boston are about 30 minutes away with restaurants and shopping.

Weekend Trip to Bayou Bend Rv And Camping

Nice quiet out of the way campsite with several spots to choose from. Sit and watch the lazy water drift by on the bayou as you listen to the frogs from the backwater creek. This was a peaceful stop for us and the host was accommodating, helpful, and informative. There is a shower house and laundry as well as WiFi, and full hook ups. We highly recommend this site. Easily fit a 35 foot rig. It was surprisingly easy to get to.

My first Hipcamp overnight stay. So take that in consideration. Great hideaway right on the bayou. Definitely don’t want to miss this hidden gem off I-20. Communications from booking to checkout was great, Phildon’s reply to any question I had was answered promptly. Great leveled land and hookups conveniently to rear of camper. Thank you again.

Weekend Trip to Coppergate Ranch

We are self contained and didn’t need hookups so we were able to use the beautiful spot right by the pond. Nicely shaded, large fire ring, picnic table and chairs. There was a charcoal grill available as well. The outhouse in this area of the property was very nice and clean. Lynda and Ruston were very welcoming hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend a stay here if you are in the area.

Hart was great!! My boys and I absolutely loved the campsite out on the jetty. It was clean and had multiple locations for tents. The water access was perfect and plenty of fish were biting. We definitely hope to come back next spring! If you’re used to camping the TX state park and looking for something different and off the beaten path, this is the place! Don’t hesitate, book it.

Wonderful little place to stay. We stayed for one evening with our 3 dogs. Michael was extremely accommodating and welcoming. Cabin has everything you need for a relaxing trip; cozy, warm and inviting. Area is rural and private and perfect for those looking for a break from the hustle and bustle. We had 2WD vehicles and did just fine. I recommend getting there before dark, as the road is easier when you can see well. It’s very hard to find places that accept pets, so this was a gem for us. Definitely out of the way, so bring whatever you need. Highly recommended. Thank you to Michael and his family for hosting us.

Linda is an awesome host and has a perfect spot for everyone to enjoy. I have found my spot and will be booking it as much as I can, so you better get there before I do.

Had a great time here! The area was spacious, camp fire and tire swing along with grill area in great locations. Host was super nice as well as her pup who my dog got along with and that's saying something because she likes her personal space. Her dog was a great watch dog of the area, showing my dog around the area and he spent time around my camp area which was nice. Great scenery and I would definitely stay here the next time I want to visit East Tx and go camping 😀

I loved camping on Will and Austyn's land. They met us with a warm hello a tour upon arrival. The tent was located towards the back of the property, tucked away nicely. We had the whole camp to ourselves, which was GREAT! We wanted a nice and quiet trip, which is what we got. The tent itself was cozy. Before we arrived, Will and Austyn set up our tent and bathroom area with heaters, turned on and ready to go. That was an AMAZING touch. The night we arrived, the low was 25 degrees. But it actually got hot in the tent, I was sweating. They also provided an electric blanket! Again, a wonderful touch that they didnt have to provide. The wifi was Great! If you want to unplug completely, great. But we needed the service for Emergency calls back home. The community kitchen was great! It had almost everything we needed. The bathroom was warm because of the space heater and fully stocked with essentials! Now a couple of things to think about: If you're a coffee drinker, bring k cups. Thats what was inside the tent. Or it will be a process to use the French press. Personally, not my thing, but im a HUGE coffee drinker. The kitchen isnt heated, so cooking was painful the first night only because it was so cold. But the soup we made was worth it. Spiders... everywhere. Lol its expected... only daddy long legs but be aware if you a terrified of spiders like myself. Lighting in the tent was low, bring a lantern! Theres a spot to hang one. All in all it was WONDERFUL! WILL be back!
