This breathtaking location is extremely unique, because we are surrounded by Deception Pass State Park. Wildlife: When it comes to wildlife, you will wake-up to the beautiful and rejuvenating melodies of a plethora of wild birds, chipmunks, squirrels, woodpeckers,, etc. During your stay, you will cross paths with deer and various other wild animals, in this very natural and pristine setting. Vegetation: While enjoying your stay at Rosario Camp & RV, you’ll also enjoy a medley of flora, such as the Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Pacific Madrone and many other native trees. In addition, you’ll be able to taste absolutely delicious in-season wild berries, view Pacific Bleeding hearts, vine maples and many more different types of vegetation, native to Northwestern Washington. Many Fun Activities: In this location, you will have so many spots to enjoy various water sport activities , which include: Pass Lake (no motors), Bowman Bay, Lake Campbell, etc. At our beautiful Hipcamp location you’re, literally, in the middle of it all. If you’d like, you may choose to walk, bike, moped or drive across the street (Rosario Road), to Deception Pass State Park, to explore various views and go for absolutely amazing hikes. You may choose to go on long mountain bike rides, with breathtaking views of Deception Pass Bridge, Bowman Bay and more. Perhaps, you’ll choose to rent a paddle board, canoe, kayak, boat or simply bring your own. There is scuba diving and scuba diving classes available, in the area. How about going on a fly fishing adventure, for stocked cutthroat, rainbow and/or brown trout (15”-29”+), at beautiful Pass Lake. If you’re interested in yachting or fishing the “big water” that is also an option, in the area of Anacortes (A-Town). There are many different tours available, at and around Deception Pass State Park, on land and/or on one of our area lakes or in the big water. End of the road. Start of an epic camping weekend. River to the side, Cascade foothill surround. Each site has river access except for lookers left which is not accessible due to the steep grade. All the siteshave nice sand for kids to play in. Close to the north cascades. Minutes from live music, bars and quality mexican restaurant. Rails to trail for bikes and walking. Tward the end of july the river starts to recede opening up more possibilities of having interaction with the river. That being said its crucial you keep an eye out on your kids. We had a guy out here who almost killed his kids multiple times underestimating the current. Watch out!!Kinda going for the peaceful, listen to the river and birds, vibe. Allowances are made for food allergies, preferences and requests. Breakfast can be ordered the night before. Why cook and wash dishes when you don't have to? Just relax and enjoy the camping experience. CAMPSITES Here on our property, you can choose from simple walk in campsites with no special amenities, to a full campsite with picnic table, fire ring, and space for tent or trailer, up to a full size camper trailer parking area. We also have the lovely Cowboy wall tent with electricity and extra plugs for charging devices, a small electric heater, larger dorm style refrigerator, Queen size bed and all the bedding, additional oversized twin bed with bedding, 2 lamps, love seat reclining sofa and side table, Bistro style table and two chairs, 2 burner hotplate with coffee and tea, plates, cups and silverware, We provide 5 gallon containers of natural snowfall derived city water at your site. The wall tent has a separate porta potty with handwashing station. A larger portapotty is located in the center of the field for easy access from all other campsites. Coming soon we are hoping to get our propane shower and shower room up and running. ACTIVITIES Other activities include local trails for hiking and biking, close proximity to Port Townsend, town beach and waterfront and a short drive to the Olympic National forest. FOOD This year, due to positive feedback, we are increasing our offering of a full course Chuckwagon dinner, two person minimum, paid for when you book your campsite. You can select from smoked pulled pork, BBQ chicken, Smoked ribs or the vegetarian selection, baked spaghetti squash stuffed with a blend of marinara, roasted zucchini, yellow squash and bell peppers, topped with parmesan cheese. Sides served with the dinner include roasted corn on the cob ( in season), potato salad, homemade Horseshoe beans, corn bread and either blackberry cobbler or pineapple upside down cake. You provide the beverage. Guests meander over to the cook tent at about 6 pm and enjoy dinner seated around tables and chairs complete with plates, cups and silverware. Dinner is served by reservation only on Saturday nights. Dinner is $30.00 per person. 24 hour advance notice required so your food is always fresh. Breakfast ( described in intro above, is $15 per person) THE PROPERTY Just what is Cowboy Camp, you might ask. The traditional definition refers to sleeping outside under the stars with only a bedroll, a fire and the night sky for companions. But if you are a fan of the western genre and lifestyle, you might also know it as a place to go to hang out with like minded folks and experience the Cowboy lifestyle. This includes all people, men and women alike, as the term "Cowboy" is largely generic and not gender oriented. A taste of that lifestyle is what we are offering here at our Cowboy Camp. HORSES It wouldn't be Cowboy Camp without horses and they are definitely present. They can be heard whinnying at mealtimes and throughout the day as they keep in touch with each other. They are generally quiet at night. Horses are not allowed in camping areas when campers are present. No farm would be complete without chickens and ours is no exception. A few hens can generally be seen wandering around the barn searching for bugs, We do not have a rooster, so guests can sleep peacefully. We are offering camping sites ranging from simple tent sites with fire ring, picnic table and soft sandy tent sites to small cabin type tents with beds and electricity. As part of your cowboy camp experience you can sign up for a horsemanship lesson involving handling and grooming horses and time spent working with the horse in the round pen. (There is no actual riding such as a trail ride offered at this time, we are working on that). You can also sign up for a roping lesson. Learn to throw a loop and catch "Little blue", our roping dummy steer head. HIKES AND BIKES We also have games of horseshoes ( with real horseshoes) and corn hole boards. You can take a hike around the property on our trail through mature Douglas fir and majestic Western cedar forest. A 1/4 mile walk down our quiet country gravel road will take you to the 80 acre Jefferson County Land trust forest with several beautiful trails meandering through mature uncut forest. These trails are suitable for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. That forest further connects to the Cappy's trail system, a network of several miles of trails that will wind around and eventually lead into Port Townsend itself if you choose to venture into town. Or you can choose to travel via mountain bike or foot approximately one mile down the road to the DNR forest property that will lead you through more gorgeous wooded and open areas to access the Larry Scott trail, a 7.3 mile out and back firm surface multi-use trail that leads either out of town through the woods or to the north directly into Port Townsend along the scenic waterfront. Our beautiful piece of property is comprised of almost 11 acres situated on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula just outside the quaint Victorian seaport town of Port Townsend. It lies approximately 4 miles from downtown with its many art galleries, restaurants, shops, boat harbor, farmer's market and the historic Rose theater. The farm itself is located within a section of old growth forest comprised of 100 year old Doug Firs, cedar trees and alder groves. There is an open pasture area in the center of the property, which is ringed completely by thick stands of forest, so it feels completely private. You have to look closely to see the neighboring two houses through the forest. The horses are excluded from camping areas during your visit, and will most likely be housed on neighboring property while guests are present. No need to worry about curious horses coming into your campsite to say hello. It is a wildlife paradise with frequent visits from local deer, bald eagles, ducks on the pond, owls nesting in the trees, and coyotes travelling through. The frog pond is alive all night with singing. If you are a light sleeper you might consider earplugs. We have created a walking trail through the forest around the land that is full of the sounds of life and birds. A pileated woodpecker makes its home in the back corner and two pairs of barred owls also inhabit the nearby Douglas firs. They can be heard at night calling out as they settle in for the evening. An important note for the walking explorer, please be aware that many areas of the farm are in their natural state. This means you might encounter prickly plants such as star thistle, nettles and tansy ragwort. We are happy to identify these for you if you are unfamiliar with them. Please be aware and dress in long pants and long sleeves while hiking. There are no poisonous snakes present in this region. We train horses here so there is a full size riding arena and training round pen. On any given day, you might see horses being trained and ridden. MORE ABOUT THE FOOD At the end of your day of adventures, you can opt to sign up ( when your site is booked) for a delicious feast at Cowboy Camp. Using old time traditional Dutch oven cooking techniques and slow smoking methods, meals are comprised of such items as slow cooked smoked pork shoulder or ribs, Dutch oven baked "Horseshoe Beans" ( a crowd favorite), fire roasted corn on the cob (in season) , homemade potato salad, green spinach salad, and of course dessert such as homemade blackberry cobbler or pineapple upside down cake. Vegetarian selections are also available upon request. ADVENTURES CLOSE BY Venturing out from the farm you can sign up to go on a whale watching excursion with Puget Sound Express out of Port Townsend. Seeing a whale is guaranteed or you get a free return trip. Also, the Olympic National Park is only a short one hour drive to the west and the view from Hurricane Ridge is not to be missed. Your Hosts: Property owners Karma and Rick come with a long extensive history of experience in the horse industry and western culture. Together they share over 100 years of experience with horses, both having ridden since young children. Karma loves sharing her knowledge of horses and horsemanship with others and has been a certified riding instructor for many years. Rick grew up with a horse and cattle background from a young age. As a young man he competed in the rodeo sports of bareback broncs, calf roping, bull riding and team roping. He then worked as a professional farrier, horse trainer and ranch employee in Texas. He learned the art of Texas BBQ cooking while living and working on Texas ranches. He loves to cook for others and enjoys sharing tales of the ranch life. You can choose to be as involved as you like during your visit. You can sit quietly in the forest and just enjoy peace and quiet if you so desire. We will not bother you. Our 28 acres are located in between maple falls and glacier, Wa, directly on Mt Baker Hwy on the way to Beautiful Mt Baker. Ben and I run a chemical free farm, on which we raise 7 and 1/2 acres of veggie and flower. 15 acres of pastureland on which we raise pasture raised chicken, as well as biannual lamb and beef. The remainder of our land is breathtaking pacific northwest forest that is boarded by the Bay to Baker trail. Our campsites range between walk in wooded sites, and car camping sites that are open field sites next to the tree line. We provide wagons in our cart corral area to make it more convenient for the very short walk in. ( no more then a 200 foot walk in) We have a beautiful cedar grove to enjoy for lounging and picnics. The Bay to Baker trail borders our property, so it is just steps away and includes a 45 min round walk to a quaint little waterfall (maple falls). As well as a nature loop trail. You can also walk the other direction on the trail over a boardwalk and up to the Nooksack river. This direction walks along the back of the farm and allows you to see the veggie fields from a distance. There is a conservation area, just a quarter mile drive down the road. With access to the Nooksack river, that includes several nice swimming spots and a couple nice walking trials. Silver Lake is just 3.8 miles away. It has a great recreation area, fun for the whole family. Just a heads up , you will probably lose service on your drive up here. But you will get service back when you are here. We suggest putting the map in your phone before you leave. Google maps will take you just past the farm, and apple maps will stop you too soon. So you are looking for the large kragnes family farms sign in the driveway. pull in and follo the camping signs to the back.

Relax and enjoy the privacy and beauty of our 10-acre secluded property. The property is a mowed, open grass field surrounded by forest. Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest (two young eagles are in the nest right now!) and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course. Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned regularly and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture. Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway. Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north. Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate. Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. A yellow "Rural Rodeo" sign is located below the mailboxes adjacent to our driveway. Please keep an eye out for our address #, as some of the mapping systems have you drive past our driveway. The driveway extends past a large barn. Keep right on the driveway at the "Y".

The Guemes North Homestead is ten acres of gorgeous tall trees, clearings, homestead buildings, pond, trails, renewable energy gear, and more, set in the middle of the north end of Guemes Island (a 7-minute ferry from downtown Anacortes), at the end of a 1/3-mile dead-end driveway. It has nature, quiet, and privacy. It includes a 30-year-old orchard, a developed garden with fine soil, a pond with rope swing and waterslide, several solar and wind energy systems, and multiple buildings. It's about a mile in two directions from the Pacific Ocean beach, and is surrounded by wooded acreage that is criss-crossed with trails and friendly neighbors, on an island with about 700 year-round residents and an active weekend/summer population. Homestead owner Ian Woofenden is an expert in renewable energy systems. He's lived off-grid at the homestead for 40-plus years, where he raised his large family and managed several small businesses. He now consults, sells, writes, and teaches about renewable energy in the U.S. and in Central America. If your idea of a great getaway is to help out and do physical work, just ask Ian. There's always something going on at the homestead, including garden and orchard work, trail building, wood cutting, construction, sawmilling, and more. Ian built this place, and has a broad knowledge of lots of homestead and sustainability topics. He loves sharing his knowledge and experience with guest, students, and interns. The owners have a small garden and some fruit trees that are for owner's use only but you are happy to walk around and tour the garden. Approximately 5 acres of the property is mowed for recreational use. There is a dock for fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking or boating. The lake is open to boats but no jet skis are allowed. You can bring your own water toys and play on the lake all day. There is open space for camping but no running water. The property has a firepit and porta potty for campers use. Relax and enjoy the privacy and beauty of our 10-acre secluded property. The property is a mowed, open grass field surrounded by forest. Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest (two young eagles are in the nest right now!) and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course. Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned regularly and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture. Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway. Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north. Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate. Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. Another amazing visit to Scott & Margaret's Alder Meadow. This is the 4th or 5th time we've been there. Every time is amazing. Margaret has done such a wonderful job with the property. My kids love that she has a snack shack where they can purchase an ice cream bar or popsicle. Probably the cleanest, nicest smelling outhouse I've ever used. We will be back in the future.

Margaret was so accommodating when I had to change plans several times due to a series of my own unfortunate events. What was supposed to be an overnight stay became a day trip, and Margaret was accommodating to my changes in plans. She was so quick about communicating and ensuring that I still had a great time. The site was amazing. It was clean, large, shaded and sunny, and had trail access to the creek. The entire camp is well maintained, and the outhouse was spectacularly clean. The trails had clear trail markers, and even though I explored them, I feel like I only scratched the surface. I was truly disappointed to leave. I will be back.

Wonderful stay on Nichelle’s land! Camping here was peaceful and scenic—truly a special spot. Nichelle was incredibly attentive and accommodating throughout our stay, with great communication from start to finish. The views were beautiful, and we felt welcomed and well taken care of. Cheers to Richard and Kathleen for creating the ideal HipCamp. Evergrin Shire is a perfect base camp for exploring the Mt. Baker area. The campsites are well maintained, spaced out appropriately, peaceful and provide gorgeous views. Richard and Kathleen are also the kindest hosts, checking in daily, offering suggestions to local favorites and bringing their sweet pups over to my site for some playtime with mine. I will absolutely be returning to Evergrin Shire.

Alder Meadow camp area

3 nights at Rusty Ranch Tree Farm and Forest

We loved the site, land, and the welcoming nature of Margaret and Rusty Ranch. The grounds were very well maintained, grass even soft to walk barefoot all weekend. Excellent amenities at every turn. Playgrounds, swings, sand toys, activity book with forest information for the kids and trails for all ability levels. Wild berries by the creek were a very nice surprise and great incentive to keep the little ones exploring longer. This ranch would be great for several families to camp together but also the sites are spaced enough that you dont hear each other or feel on top of other guests. Core memories were certainly made this weekend.

We absolutely loved our time with Jill on Monkey Hill. It was the perfect place to rest and recover and relax and a great home base for exploring the island. Jill is an incredible hostess - and we loved meeting her.

We spent four nights tent camping at the Cedarwood spot with four adults and three toddlers. The kids loved exploring the property and picking berries, and I loved walking the trail on the ridgetop and taking in the view at sunrise and sunset. The steep drive up the dirt road to exit the camping area was no problem with a Subaru. Shaums is a friendly and welcoming host who made our visit very nice.

Richard’s place is lovely, gorgeous field with camping around the perimeter. We happened to be the only campers and our dogs had a blast. Beautiful and quiet.

Beautiful trails to hike. Site are well maintained, very easy to access. I can see how this is a great family place to camp. Lots to do. I however enjoyed a very quiet solo stay during the mid-week.

Weekend Trip to Rosario Camp & RV

We had a great time at Nichelles Hipcamp. The location can’t be beat, great views, amazing host! And my personal favorite thing was NO MOSQUITOS. I am a mosquito magnet so camping is completely ruined for me if I’m being eaten alive and itching the entire time. We had no issues at this location and will definitely go back. As the site continues to be developed it will get better and better. I recommend to bring a shovel for some of the upper sites to level out spots as needed and note that some of the sites are small if you plan to have multiple tents. All in all great camping experience go check it out. Also Rosario beach across the street was 10/10

What a wonderful place to camp! My husband and I only had the pleasure of staying one night, but even still we saw wildlife, had a wonderful fire, and got to see the most breathtaking sunset from the very top of the mountain! Shaums has created a really unique place to stay and has even created trails all over his property for all campers to enjoy. Highly recommend staying here.

Weekend Trip to Evergrin Shire

First time using Hipcamp and it turned out to be a memorable trip. Property was beautiful. Large meadow bordered with a mowed path along the treeline. One group of campers other than me and it was as if they weren’t even there. Hosts were great, very friendly and inviting, along with informational. Really just good people that seem to think “isn’t this beautiful, isn’t this peaceful, come enjoy it with us” Got some homemade jam and some memorable moments on this trip and I’d definitely love to stay again. You may not want to talk as much as I did and prefer the peace, they will certainly give you that, but if you’re like me and need a good conversation, Richard sat with me for hours one day as we just enjoyed the beautiful day and talked about life, I needed it, that wonderful conversation alone will have me looking back on this trip with a smile for a very long time and make me happy to plan another one.

Weekend Trip to Evergrin Shire

We highly recommend this peaceful gem. Rich and Kathleen are delightful hosts and their place is truly stunning. Rich generously shared his local knowledge of nearby places to explore. They were very tolerant and supportive of our reactive dog during the periodic rounds they make with their own well-behaved labs. Our site felt very secluded and had a view of the idyllic meadow and surrounding forest and hills. Our stay really couldn’t have been better.

We had an amazing stay at Shaums' place as part of a mountain bike weekend in Bellingham! The A frame was such a fun way to upgrade our usual camping experience. It's basically like a wooden tent with a porch and hammock -- so cool! We brought an air mattress and made dinner over the campfire with things we found at the farmers market that morning. Shaums was an amazing host, communicative, incredibly hospitable, and even suggested the best sunset watching spot 🤩 would definitely stay here again!

We used to live off grid so it was great to take my fifteen year old son and three of his friends to this homestead so they could experience a little of the sustainable living craft. Ian was a super great communicator and very attentive and flexible to our needs.

Lovely spot with lake access and plenty of room to host a larger group! We had a great overnight birthday party here and really enjoyed the gravel picnic area where we hung out all day and well into the night. No complaints! Jill, our host was absolutely wonderful, kind and accommodating. We requested to rent one of her sites the same day we came to town and she approved our request quite quickly. The location was fairly easy to find and the site was among the most gorgeous grove of trees. There was a cute little guest house with a bathroom that Jill let the guests use and her property is just lush and beautiful. Jill also created a horseshoe pit while we were there and we got to play! We will definitely visit again the next time we are in town. Thank you again, Jill!

Site "C" is a good one, large and surrounded by trees. It is right next to the outhouse which I liked. It was clean and not smelly. I didn't shower or use the communal kitchen but it was provided as it was promised in the description. Jill did her part to establish communication by messaging me twice through the App before my arrival but my phone was malfunctioning. This site is near to town and Deception Pass which can be a plus, but there is some road noise until about 11pm. It was a good stay!
