Relax and enjoy the privacy and beauty of our 10-acre secluded property. The property is a mowed, open grass field surrounded by forest. Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest (two young eagles are in the nest right now!) and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course. Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned regularly and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture. Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway. Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north. Free water and sewer dump are available at the Lummi Market, within one mile of the house. Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate. Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. A yellow "Rural Rodeo" sign is located below the mailboxes adjacent to our driveway. Please keep an eye out for our address #, as some of the mapping systems have you drive past our driveway. The driveway extends past a large barn. Keep right on the driveway at the "Y".

The Owl Hollow campsite has a raised tent site adjacent to the forest. The site has access to an adjacent grass field if you'd like to tent in the open space. The site has a view across our field to a huge eagle's nest occupied by Big Shadow, She Shadow, and their newest two eaglets. Camp site has a picnic table and access to a communal porta-potty (cleaned daily, pumped weekly. No hookups at the site, but there is access to potable water from a spigot in the field (1-2 minute walk). Guests will need to be self contained, take trash with them, and leave no trace. Wildlife is common on the property including deer, birds of all sizes and shapes, periodically coyotes, and mosquitos. You may even see our kitty, Haze. Well behaved pets are welcome.

I appreciated how intentional the camping area was set up. Lovely! Having a port-a-potty on site was also nice. Easy to find, beautiful surroundings. There's a little noise from a train, and I think the location must be in a flight pattern? But a good pair of earplugs will take care of that issue.

Perfect quiet getaway close enough to town! The camping was as advertised and true to the photos. We were in a truck bed camper which was a little tall for the beautiful trees overhanging the designated tent pad and table for the site. The portapotty was extremely clean and the property was well maintained. Would definitely stay again!

beautiful spot to hang out a few days and the most affordable place to stay for a stay in Bellingham. The toilet was immaculate and they loaned us a hose to refill our water.

This place was incredible and far exceeded expectations. The frisbee golf course was a fun surprise, the toilet was spotless, and the campsites were very well maintained.

This was a lovely place to stay. I was worried that the afternoon sun was going to be hot when I arrived, but the trees made a really nice shady area. It was pretty easy to find and close to the airport with small airplanes flying over which I loved. I would definitely stay again. I felt safe as a solo female camper as well.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to complete our stay at the campsite. The property was very cute and the porta potty was decorated and well kept. We didn’t realize that the location is right next to train tracks and we ended up leaving in the middle of the night after the 8th train blared through honking its horn as our children tried to sleep (they seemed to come by every 15 minutes). This is at no fault to our host, we have just never camped somewhere where a lot commerce takes place and it interrupted our stay and we had to find a hotel in the middle of the night. I reached out to Kim and she was accommodating and refunded us for following day (as we had originally booked for two nights). If noise isn’t a concern for you, then the campsite was great otherwise.

We enjoyed our stay!! Our dog loved roaming around and playing ball. It was very peaceful. I enjoyed hearing the birds and owls in the evening. We would definitely recommend this spot and will be staying there when visiting the area.

Peaceful and private oasis

We had a wonderful camping experience in the peaceful countryside. The site was tucked away in a quiet, private meadow surrounded by nature—perfect for relaxing and disconnecting. Our dogs absolutely loved it; they had plenty of space to run, play, and explore safely, which made the trip even more enjoyable for us. Waking up to birdsong and watching the sun set over the open field was pure bliss. A truly serene escape—we’ll definitely be back!

Very private setting! Kim provided great instructions to the sites in the field. We found a map showing the potable water location taped to the porta potty, which was great since we ran out earlier in the day. We didn't use a tent, but I think the elevated pads are a great idea. We will definitely look into staying here next time we're passing through on our future road trips.

Second time staying here and it won’t be my last! Host is very friendly, helpful and responsive. Discovered a bonus amenity this time in that the gas station at Lummi Market right around the corner has a tank dump and water fill station at no charge!

Lovely spot, super chill. Mainly spent time with our son but sleeping and waking up here, letting the dogs out to play without worry was really nice. Vibes are great!

We loved our stay at Owl Hollow at the Rural Ranch, it’s a beautiful space. Our two dogs loved all the open land to run, sun and explore. All the cute touches in the on site bathroom were delightful. Other reviews mention the train noise, it’s a thing, but it’s also just not. We’ll definitely be back.

This site was exactly as advertised. Peaceful, convenient, and perfect for well behaved off leash dogs. We really enjoyed our stay. FYI the Porta potty is near Site 1, the first site you come to, so it’s a good choice for tent campers. We stayed at Site 3, the last site at the far end of the field, which has the least “traffic” (there is no traffic) since it’s at the end of the “road”.
