Surplus eggs and extra seasonal produce (grown, foraged) for sale when available. A very rewarding and strenuous hike leads you down into a beautiful secluded brook, with waterfalls and swimming holes. An absolutely magical spot you will most likely get to soak in in complete solitude. Other great hiking throughout our woods and nearby in Jamaica and Townshend state parks. My home is the original Diers Homestead, established in 1940. It was named The Chicken Ranch in the 1960’s. There aren’t any chickens, but there are many forest creatures that wander out of the Green Mountain National Forest & into the meadow. You may see foxes, deer, moose, large marmots, and lots of different birds including wild turkeys & great blue herons. Apple trees of many varieties are scattered around. Come eat freely when they fruit! You’ll be camping on a hill with a fire ring nearby. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets are both visible as the meadow is open to the south, east & west. This is a special place in a perfect location. If you like to explore by foot, there’s a network of private hiking trails and a river to cool off in, both within 1/4 mile from your campsite. Also easily within walking distance is the village of Rawsonville: Ungrounded Coffee, Meulemans' Craft Draughts, Honeypie, Family Kitchen and Pizzeria, Mountain Riders, Equipe Sport & the Rawsonville Marketplace where you can get basic supplies and fuel. Speaking of fuel, if you really want to roll your wheels… Stratton Village is 8 minutes by car. Take a gondola ride to the top and check out the fire tower where you can see the entire lower half of Vermont state on a clear day. The village centers of Jamaica, Londonderry and Peru are also very close by and boast great food and crafts. And there’s always Manchester, if you’re seeking lots of shopping and fine dining. Horseback riding is a 15 minute drive from the campsite at Horses For Hire in Peru. This is a truly authentic experience. Trail rides for all abilities- even the “pony ride” for the little kids is a trail through the woods. Not to be missed! Also in Peru is Bromley Mountain which, during the summer months, becomes The Thrill Zone featuring a giant alpine slide. At Bee Well Homestead in Jamaica, there is authentic BBQ, live music and yoga every Sunday morning. The New American Grill in Londonderry has a wide selection of delicious food and their open mic night on Thursdays feature very talented local musicians. Even though it’s so close to all these uniquely wonderful people and their businesses, it is really just off a little country road - the best of both worlds!

It's lambing time!!! This is the best time of year to visit us, as maximum cuteness is running around just a short walk across the suspension bridge from where you will be staying! We currently have 11 newborn lambs all less than two weeks old (two new arrivals today!) and two ewes are still waiting to deliver. Who knows...maybe they will wait til you get here! Our farm was named after the summer home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Trollhaugen Farm means Troll hill, but the only real trolls around these parts are the sheep. Our farm has sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks that you are welcome to visit. The yurt sits under the trees next to a babbling brook. A suspension bridge connects you to the farm area. The yurt is private and has a fire pit right out back where you can grill or just sit and enjoy the fire. The colorful yurt offers a comfy four poster bed, a small kitchen area and a bathroom with shower and composting toilet. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are many lovely hikes, one of which takes you to a pond you can swim in. You can also hike up in the woods behind the yurt. Newfane village is one of the most picturesque villages in Vermont, with a courthouse on the green. There are two restaurants in Newfane, two coffee shops, a flea market on Sundays, and a great antique store. We are close to Brattleboro, home to one of the best coops in the northeast, as well as many fun stores and an art museum. Please come visit us!

Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites. 2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site. Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear. We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest). - PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use). Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids. Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people. In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive. Always WISE to arrive When LIGHT out as we do not live at the site and are not able to show guests to their sites as a result.

The sleeping area offers four generously-sized bunks, a loft area, and a queen futon. Enjoy the peace of nature with a cup of coffee on the porch, but don’t forget to cap off the night with smores around the fire pit! Access to Vermont’s Long Trail System is nearby, with its 272 mile footpath and 166miles of side trails. This offers endless hiking opportunities for the day-hiker, weekend overnighter and extended backpacker. The Long Trail follows the main ridge of the Green Mountains from the Massachusetts-Vermont state line to the Canadian border, crossing Vermont’s highest peaks. As for the daily adventures, take a drive to surrounding ski resorts, including Bromley Mountain being just 15 miles from the property, where you can enjoy various activities year-round. Take a 10 minute drive to visit Mount Equinox Skyline drive where you’ll take in incredible views. Just past Mount Equinox is The Village of Manchester, which is home to the famed Equinox Resort and Spa. In Manchester, guests can enjoy everything from shopping & dining to outdoor classes for ATV driving and fly fishing!

With the main house built in 1860 this property has seen many uses such as a farm, retail Christmas store, church, rental cabins, and a gravel quarry among other things. I now try to keep the back acreage by the brook and pond as natural as possible for habitat, as well as you the campers! Learn more about this land: I have 3 well spaced out RV sites on the property. They fit different sized rigs so please read the descriptions. Pets are welcome at the sites, but please have them remain leashed or under your effective verbal control. Most will have cell service at the sites or there is a free public Wi-Fi in Wilmington center. Private yet convenient to Downtown Wilmington, VT. Located between the Harriman reservoir and Lake Raponda, both great for boating, fishing and swimming. As well as the Deerfield River across the street, which runs through town. There is a public hiking trail that goes through the property. It goes from the Fairview ave. boat launch in Wilmington, all the way up to West Dover. You can access this at the back of the site. The sites are only a minutes drive from downtown Wilmington, or you can hike/bike there on the trail (approx 15 min). In Wilmington there is plenty of shopping, gifts, coffee, restaurants, gas, liquor store. I also have dry, split firewood available for $10 on site. Please don't bring your own unless it is prepackaged from shaws or bought from one of the local sellers right around me. Transportation of out of state firewood can bring invasive beetles to our forests...

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

I now try to keep the back acreage by the brook and pond as natural as possible for habitat, as well as you the campers! Learn more about this land: I have 3 well spaced out RV sites on the property. They fit different sized rigs so please read the descriptions. Pets are welcome at the sites, but please have them remain leashed or under your effective verbal control. Most will have cell service at the sites or there is a free public Wi-Fi in Wilmington center. Private yet convenient to Downtown Wilmington, VT. Located between the Harriman reservoir and Lake Raponda, both great for boating, fishing and swimming. As well as the Deerfield River across the street, which runs through town. There is a public hiking trail that goes through the property. It goes from the Fairview ave. boat launch in Wilmington, all the way up to West Dover. You can access this at the back of the site. The sites are only a minutes drive from downtown Wilmington, or you can hike/bike there on the trail (approx 15 min). In Wilmington there is plenty of shopping, gifts, coffee, restaurants, gas, liquor store. I also have dry, split firewood available for $10 on site. Please don't bring your own unless it is prepackaged from shaws or bought from one of the local sellers right around me. Transportation of out of state firewood can bring invasive beetles to our forests...

Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. This was the perfect “glamping” spot! Tara has the space supplied with everything you may need. We especially enjoyed cooking our dinner over the fire, and sleeping to the sounds of the wood stove burning at night. Be prepared for the sounds of wildlife (coyotes). We never encountered them and always felt safe, but could certainly hear them! We would definitely return to this spot.

My home is the original Diers Homestead, established in 1940. It was named The Chicken Ranch in the 1960’s. There aren’t any chickens, but there are many forest creatures that wander out of the Green Mountain National Forest & into the meadow. You may see foxes, deer, moose, large marmots, and lots of different birds including wild turkeys & great blue herons. Apple trees of many varieties are scattered around. Come eat freely when they fruit! You’ll be camping on a hill with a fire ring nearby. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets are both visible as the meadow is open to the south, east & west. This is a special place in a perfect location. If you like to explore by foot, there’s a network of private hiking trails and a river to cool off in, both within 1/4 mile from your campsite. Also easily within walking distance is the village of Rawsonville: Ungrounded Coffee, Meulemans' Craft Draughts, Honeypie, Family Kitchen and Pizzeria, Mountain Riders, Equipe Sport & the Rawsonville Marketplace where you can get basic supplies and fuel. Speaking of fuel, if you really want to roll your wheels… Stratton Village is 8 minutes by car. Take a gondola ride to the top and check out the fire tower where you can see the entire lower half of Vermont state on a clear day. The village centers of Jamaica, Londonderry and Peru are also very close by and boast great food and crafts. And there’s always Manchester, if you’re seeking lots of shopping and fine dining. Horseback riding is a 15 minute drive from the campsite at Horses For Hire in Peru. This is a truly authentic experience. Trail rides for all abilities- even the “pony ride” for the little kids is a trail through the woods. Not to be missed! Also in Peru is Bromley Mountain which, during the summer months, becomes The Thrill Zone featuring a giant alpine slide. At Bee Well Homestead in Jamaica, there is authentic BBQ, live music and yoga every Sunday morning. The New American Grill in Londonderry has a wide selection of delicious food and their open mic night on Thursdays feature very talented local musicians. Even though it’s so close to all these uniquely wonderful people and their businesses, it is really just off a little country road - the best of both worlds!

It's lambing time!!! This is the best time of year to visit us, as maximum cuteness is running around just a short walk across the suspension bridge from where you will be staying! We currently have 11 newborn lambs all less than two weeks old (two new arrivals today!) and two ewes are still waiting to deliver. Who knows...maybe they will wait til you get here! Our farm was named after the summer home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Trollhaugen Farm means Troll hill, but the only real trolls around these parts are the sheep. Our farm has sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks that you are welcome to visit. The yurt sits under the trees next to a babbling brook. A suspension bridge connects you to the farm area. The yurt is private and has a fire pit right out back where you can grill or just sit and enjoy the fire. The colorful yurt offers a comfy four poster bed, a small kitchen area and a bathroom with shower and composting toilet. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are many lovely hikes, one of which takes you to a pond you can swim in. You can also hike up in the woods behind the yurt. Newfane village is one of the most picturesque villages in Vermont, with a courthouse on the green. There are two restaurants in Newfane, two coffee shops, a flea market on Sundays, and a great antique store. We are close to Brattleboro, home to one of the best coops in the northeast, as well as many fun stores and an art museum. Please come visit us!

Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear. We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest). - PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use). Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids. Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people. About

Despite its name, Jamaica State Park is not located on the island in the Caribbean. Damn! It’s actually on the eastern edge of Vermont’s Green Mountain National Forest. Sweet! Spanning 772 acres on a bend of the West River, it’s about a half-mile from the center of the town of Jamaica (ah, now it makes sense). And though it’s most known for its paddling pastimes, Jamaica offers a host of other activities including hiking, fishing and camping. Scattered about the park you'll find tent, RV, and lean-to sites.

Just outside the campground there are some stunning sights. If you’re willing to wander due north, the West River Trail eventually branches off toward the must-see Hamilton Falls. The falls are a breathtaking geological feature, definitely snapshot- (or at least selfie) worthy. Following the trail south, you’ll come upon The Dumplings. Again, don’t be confused. These dumplings are actually glacial erratics (AKA large boulders) in the river. They’re a favorite playground for whitewater boaters and a scenic view for the rest of us!

The ideal time to visit Jamaica State Park is during the summer months, from late May to early September, when the weather is warm and the park is fully accessible. Winter brings a quiet beauty, but be prepared for cold temperatures and limited access due to snow.
