Welcome to Better Wheel Workshops, a haven where the art of craftsmanship flourishes. Step into our vibrant shop and immerse yourself in the world of artisanal excellence. Here, we invite you to witness the magic of skilled hands transforming raw materials into works of art. Discover the rich history of this place, once home to the renowned Froggy Bottom Guitars Luthier Workshop. While Froggy moved on to new horizons, we have revived this space, infusing it with our passion for independent craftsmanship. During your visit, we extend a personal invitation to explore our workshop. Experience the symphony of creativity and dedication that reverberates through the air—Marvel at our artisans' intricate details and masterful techniques. Each step is a labor of love, from shaping the wood to refining finishes, resulting in remarkable pieces that transcend the ordinary. As you embark on this journey, rest easy at our inviting Hillside Camp, nestled in the serene beauty of Southern Vermont. Picture yourself settling into our cozy tent platforms, thoughtfully situated amidst the natural splendor. Surrounded by towering trees and the gentle whispers of nature, you'll find solace and inspiration. In the heart of our camp, a primitive fire pit beckons you to gather around its warm glow—delight in the camaraderie of fellow adventurers, sharing stories and laughter under the starlit sky. Let the crackling flames ignite your spirit and forge connections that will last a lifetime. If you need replenishment, a water jug will be awaiting your arrival. Should you require more, our friendly staff is always ready to fulfill your requests. For those chilly evenings, we offer firewood at a nominal fee, ensuring your comfort as you embrace the serenity of the campfire's embrace. Nature's call is met with our on-site primitive enclosed composting toilet. We strive to harmonize modern convenience with environmental consciousness, ensuring your stay with us is comfortable and sustainable. Please note that while we adore pets, our resident dog brings joy to our property. Please leave your furry friends at home during your visit to ensure everyone's safety and tranquility. Our dog is typically kept on a leash, but occasionally, she gets one over on us and gains her freedom. She is aggressively friendly and loves to love but is a bit large and jumpy. If she does get loose, we will be by very quickly to gather her up. Beyond our camp, the wonders of Vermont's wilderness await. Set off on the trails that meander through our property, inviting you to explore the breathtaking landscapes. Whether you prefer leisurely walks or thrilling mountain bike rides, nature's beauty will unfold before your eyes. Lose yourself in the tranquility of the woods and find solace in the embrace of the great outdoors. When it's time for a refreshing dip, venture to the nearby rivers and streams that weave through Vermont's picturesque terrain and discover hidden swimming spots where crystal-clear waters invite you to immerse yourself in nature's embrace, please ensure that you select public swimming holes, respecting the landowners' rights and preserving the delicate balance of these natural wonders. Thank you for choosing to be a part of our story. We are honored to host you and dedicated to ensuring your stay with us is extraordinary. Welcome to a world where history, nature, and the art of craftsmanship unite perfectly, creating an unforgettable experience for all who venture here.Hillside Campsite is located in a wooded area. The tent platform and fire pit rests on a portion of a huge rocky outcropping that overlooks a lovely wooded area. Guests will enjoy multiple acres of wooded area and miles of walking and mountain biking trails, but please note that there may be another group a quarter mile down the hill. Guests have access to a communal composting toilet. There is a 5-minute uphill walk the site. We have a neighborhood bear. Please be careful with food and keep it in a tight container outside of your tent. All trash must be taken with you. Pack in / pack out is required. * There will be no water access from our house. We will set up a water jug at the site prior to your arrival, but you are responsible for anything beyond the 5 gallons we provide. The Hillside Camp: The tent platform is 8'x8' square, and set atop a large rock outcropping looking west.  There is a primitive fire pit made of stones. We can also provide firewood if needed for $15 per bundle. We have a friendly dog that lives on property so we ask that you please don't bring your pet to our land. Local activities: While there is no swimming hole on our property, there is a great spot at the intersection of RT. 30 and Depot Rd (5 minutes away). There are also plenty of swimming holes all along the rivers and streams of VT. If you use Google Maps, if you find a river with a lot of twists and turns, you are more than likely to find a good hole or two.  Please make sure you find a swimming hole that is public.  You may see folks swimming holes in back yards. You may see a bunch of folks swimming in these places, but they will have permission from the land owner to swim there.  Thank you, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us.
