A designated waste disposal barrel is provided on site. Please be sure to properly secure your waste before dropping it in the barrel.
Dogs are welcome on leash. Well-trained dogs with reliable voice commands may be considered off leash. Dogs may not be left unattended at the site. I do have a long line for your dog which can be utilized at the campsite.

The 40 acre pond is 65 feet deep. It is a kettle pond which is spring fed with no river inlets to pollute it. Access is a little tricky with 100 yard hike from the parking area down a steep slope. The 10-acre light station includes the 59 ft. tall lighthouse, historic structures such as two keepers' houses, an oil house, and a lantern room (now a gift shop). ABOUT THE CAMPSITE
Enjoy off-the-grid coastal living at the Bakers Island Light Station Campsite. With only three camp sites, it's an intimate and private retreat — set up your tent on a raised platform, meet the summer lighthouse keepers, stroll the island trails, and unwind — just three miles off the coast of Salem!
GETTING TO CAMP
The only way to reach the campsite is by boat. Three options are available:
1. Our landing craft, the Naumkeag — $70/adult, $50/child (ages 4–12). Departs from Blaney Street Dock. Contact us to purchase tickets. You must provide the first and last name of each passenger.
2. Your own boat + mooring rental — $50/night. You will need your own dinghy to get ashore, as there is no dock. Contact us to reserve a mooring.
3. Kayak — For experienced kayakers only. The island sits in a busy channel with potentially rough waters.
All campers must arrange transportation after booking. Details will be sent upon confirmation.
IMPORTANT
The $60/night fee covers up to 4 people per site. Maximum capacity is 4 people per site, and names of all guests must be provided before arrival.

What a beautiful camping spot! We went with our kids (4&7) and site 1 was ideal since it’s the closest to the outhouse and has rocks on the brook that are really fun to explore on. Having the woodshed with plenty of firewood on site accessible (easy to buy with Venmo) was awesome, no need to bring it along and it was always dry. And the platform made setting up the tent a breeze. The rock to jump into the lake is super fun! We must’ve done it 10 times. We plan to come back. First tenting trip with the kids and it was a success!

Weekend Trip to Ponderings at White Pond
Claudine and Henry were so welcoming and accommodating! The lil cabin is so nice, more well equipped than the pictures shows. Swimming in the pond was excellent. We’ll certainly be back :)

Beautiful site. I love camping next to a brook or stream. There were no other campers, so we had the whole area to ourselves, which was great.

I thought hickory heights was a quiet private and comfortable campsite . I would highly recommend staying here . The host were very nice and showed interest in making it an enjoyable stay . I would definitely return here and intend to .

Second visit to Bakers Island. Once again timed for the full moon. Beautiful location, sitting and watching boats in the channel between Bakers and the Misery Islands. Took part in the flag lowering ceremony. Dave and Wendy our hosts, extremely helpful and friendly. Even got a swim in. Rocky beach, but beautiful water. Plan on going back next summer.

We had a great time with Lukas! He is very knowledgeable about the local plant life, and we really enjoyed the guided tour. The farm is so cool, and it was wonderful to see what he's done with the property and his future plans for it. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and the cute stove built into it. We would definitely return to the campsite if we are in the area again.
