Greene Kitchen Farm has been farmed by the Greene family since 2013.  If you step back in time a few owners, the Kitchen family with 8 boys and a girl farmed the land that surrounds the little tributary to Montour Run.  The Greenes have been pasturing the majority of the land in nature's image with an eye toward biomimicry and an agro-forestal, savannah landscape.  The herbivores pulse through the landscape with flocks of birds following them.   Since the livestock have been fenced out of the creek, a little jewel of a wildlife refuge traverses the farm from northwest to southeast.  This riparian zones shades the creek, protects the water quality, and provides great habitat for coyotes, minks, eagles, white-tailed deer, groundhogs, hawks, squirrels, woodcock, and a variety of songbirds.  Greene Kitchen Farm camp sites are situated on this varied section of brook.      Learn more about this land:Bring your tent or park your pop-up along the spring at Greene Kitchen Farm. Our property features private creek access, a fire pit with tons of campfire wood, and a clean portapotty for guests to use. There is also seating areas at the creek for guests to enjoy. We have many deer who call our property home so you should expect to see them almost daily. We also have a variety of other animals including raccoons, farm cats, and tons of birds including woodpeckers. We do live in an agricultural area so at times, you may hear farm equipment or cows. We also live near the Numidia Dragstrip and you may hear the races at times too. Attractions very close by include Knoebels Amusement Park (voted #1 in the Country and still free admission), Numidia Raceway, and Weiser State Forest. There are plenty of farms and shops to check out including Rohrbach's Farm Store and agro tourism space, Catawissa Opera House, and Roaring Creek Provisions. Plus, we have tons of restaurants within a 20 minute drive. In addition, Calm Creek has an onsite healing studio where you can book a personal energy healing session, Reiki, or card reading sessions. We do live onsite and you may see us at times walking our golden retriever or having a campfire down at the creek. You do have your own personal space where you will be camping.

It is only 1.8 miles off the Route 25 approximately 1/2 hour drive north of Harrisburg. It is down a dirt road through the woods. At the edge of the field is the woods of the mountian. The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. The Season House, one of the two foreman homes, features additional guest accommodations while Doug resides in the other foreman house. Visit and experience a piece of PA history! The White Squirrel Properties include a cabin, rental pavilion and camp site. The camp site sits at the top of a hill and provides a secluded flat site to pitch your tent or park your van/truck camper/truck top tent. You will have this space to yourself. The view is breathtaking - you have a gorgeous view of the Susquehanna River, numerous sets of mountain ranges, and you are surrounded by beautiful fields. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! We have used HIPCAMP in the past, this place was great. The only feedback would be a little more weed wacking and brush cutting, but otherwise was just as expected! We stayed 3 nights, and took some walks on the property, said hello to the Dogs, Emus, Guinea Hens, Peacocks the Goat. Theresa was very nice and came around each day to make sure all was good. I would return if I need to stay out there again. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Secluded BLT Cabin

BLT Cabin was fantastic! 10 out of 10! It was amazing to disconnect and spend some time relaxing at the cabin. We built fires each night which was super easy bc of all the supplies provided by the host. You can tell that this place is well-loved + well looked after. This place is super well stocked with things you might need or have forgotten. We hiked throughout the property and explored the trails. I really enjoyed simply walking along the 0.8 mile gravel road and absorbing all the good nature smells and sights. My dog had an absolute blast being off leash in nature. He walked straight into the pond when we arrived and he enjoyed exploring the creek and woods all weekend. My boyfriend's brother/wife/kids live the 10 min away and came up to visit us for a few hours. They were able to catch and release sun fish in the pond. They also found newts and crawfish in the creek! The water is not drinkable w/o boiling and we weren't able to get the water pump to work, so we bought water at the target in town. As far as outhouses go, this one is lovely. The outdoor shower was refreshing and cold after our hot hikes. We barely used the generator, only to do some food prep inside in the evenings. Otherwise it was just the sounds of nature! It was such a treat to stay at the cabin, to nice to hang out amongst the trees, and be off the internet grid. Thank you!! Excited to return :)

4 nights at Forks Farm Campground

This place was great for our framily camping weekend. The store across the way is well stocked, along with plenty of firewood and ice. The land itself is beautiful - I almost don't want to tell people about it! Several varieties of mushrooms all over, the flowing creek, the birds & animals - was just perfect. It thunderstormed for hours the first night we were there and the land reacted so well to it. The tree cover broke the day time heat beautifully. We will be back!
