4 nights at Riverside Acres--Little Miami RiverWe stayed here for 4 nights, Wednesday through Sunday, and honestly had a great time. If you enjoy primitive camping, getting away from everything, and actually being out in nature, I would highly recommend staying here.
The campsites are very spacious, clean, and well maintained, and the property is beautiful. We loved being right along the Little Miami River and having a secluded place to set up camp. There was no power or running water at the sites, which was exactly what we were looking for. It really gave us the chance to slow down, enjoy the fire, cook our meals over the fire, play games at the picnic table, fish, hike, and relax in our hammocks. The Porta-potties were also clean and well maintained.
This is also a great campground if you like to ride bikes. We rode our bikes from our campsite out to the road and over to the recreational trail, then rode the trail into Oregonia. There are a few places to eat along the way, including Little Miami River Bar & Grill, which you can easily ride your bike to or drive to. If you want to go a little farther, you can continue toward Corwin and stop at Little Sprouts Cafe. Morrow is even closer and has a few places to eat if you head south.
We also drove over to Fort Ancient, where we spent quite a bit of time walking around the property, taking some of the hiking trails through the woods, and touring the museum. I would highly recommend that as well if you enjoy hiking, being outdoors, and learning some of the history of the area.
Our first night was especially nice, just sitting around the fire warming up, playing games at the picnic table, and enjoying the quiet. There was only one other group camping while we were there that came on our second night, and they were very respectful. The owners were also very respectful and made us feel welcome.
Dirk was a great host and does a fantastic job taking care of the campground and his guests. I really appreciate him opening up his beautiful property for people to enjoy and camp on. You can tell there is a lot of care put into the property.
We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back. My parents also stopped by one day to ride bikes with us and really enjoyed the area as well.
If you’re someone who loves primitive camping, biking, hiking, fishing, campfires, and getting away from the normal day-to-day routine, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. We couldn’t have asked for a better 4-night getaway, and we’re already looking forward to coming back! 🌲🔥🎣🚲❤️
