The peaceful 20-acre country farm has food gardens, a frog habitat pool, a barnyard for the chickens & ducks, a bluegill fishin' pond, a pollinator maze, a prairie garden, and an outdoor stage. After crossing a winding creek into 10 acres of woods, you may see deer, turkey, fox, coyote, mink, eagles & barred owls.
In early spring, the peepers are peeping, wildflowers are abundant & the vernal pools welcome the wood frogs, salamanders and fairy shrimp. Summer brings on the bullfrogs, butterflies, dragonflies and fireflies. Fall is a great time to pull grapevine to make wreaths & to build stick forts in the woods.
We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper.
We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river).

You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a fish in this pond! Swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, cornhole, small beach area for the little ones, and 2 acres of wooded trails for those who enjoy a peaceful walk. Wildlife is abundant and they prefer to be left alone. Please stay on the trails to preserve all vegetation. If you see a fawn or other babies, please do not touch these animals. Momma will be back! The community area at the gazebo offers a charcoal grill (charcoal available for purchase), seating, electric outlets, and water. Please be considerate to other guest while using this area. Trash receptacles are available at different areas on the property.
Fresh eggs and produce will be available when in season. Please ask if you are interested.
Campsites are located in the woods and are primitive. Sites include picnic table, fire pit, and trash can. Campers have access to a bathroom with a shower that is located in the basement of the cabin. All campers need to check-in with the on-site owners. All gear can be transported with a golf cart.

Yellow Springs: With a bike trail that is part of a 360 mile paved system in southwest Ohio and 2000 acres of preserved woodland to the east, Yellow Springs is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. Explore over fifty small locally owned boutiques featuring one of a kind merchandise from handcrafted pottery to custom designed jewelry to designer shoes. A truly unique shopping experience.
Urbana: Nice small town with lots of shops and restaurants in the square. Freshwater Farms of Ohio is the largest indoor fish hatchery in the state of Ohio. Pick up some trout and check out the sturgeon petting zoo with the kiddos!

A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site offered. Madden Farm has been in the Madden family and its descendants for seven generations. The original farmhouse on Madden Farm dates back to the 1860s. In 1980, a second dwelling was added to the property when a cabin on a nearby farm was moved across the fields and placed near Madden Pond. In recent years, the family has endeavored to be good stewards of the land by planting trees, growing fruits and vegetables while incorporating sustainable practices. Also of interest, since 2014, family members from Madden Farm have hosted the Madden Road Music Fest, a one-day music festival held annually on the second Saturday in August.
Our camping sites are secluded, offering a variety of shade and sunshine. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit. Connected to the sites, we have walking trails that meander through woods where you'll see a variety of trees and wildflowers. While at Madden Farm, you can relax under the trees in Sweet Gum Hammock Grove, witness spectacular sunsets and star-filled night skies like no other, and enjoy the beauty and serenity of Ohio farmland. I live on the property in a separate cabin, with three indoor cats - Artemis, Luna, and Nemo. They can hang with you or I can keep them away depending on your preference. When I book individual rooms, I fix breakfast for my guests. When the entire cabin is booked, I can still provide breakfast or you can have the place all to yourself. You’ll always have my contact info and I won’t be too far away.
Nature is strong here. The cabin is rustic, some of the native plants can be prickly, and pollinators are everywhere - including the honeybees with stingers (who live in three different natural hives on the property).
In other words, stay aware of your surroundings.

Absolutely beautiful. Nice and spacious campgrounds so neighbors aren’t a problem. The grass path was easy to drive on even in a fwd car in the rain. Nice campsites, they all seem a bit different so use the photos to pick what looks best. And the pond has some feisty fish. 10/10 would camp again

What a delight! A lot of time and care has been taken to manicure such an elaborate labyrinth of campsites and paths at the Madden Farm Campsite. We felt incredibly welcome and would love to return to this beautiful property.
Highlights of our stay:
• The Hospitality: The hosts left a helpful map to our site, and when we met one of them at the firewood stand (which is very affordably priced!), she was incredibly kind and inviting.
• Privacy & Layout: We were fortunate to have the woods to ourselves, but the clever layout offers plenty of privacy even if others are sharing the land.
• The Grounds: Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed walking the secluded paths winding through the shady woods. We also loved relaxing on the hammocks in Sweet Gum Hammock Grove, right next door to our site (Sweet Gum Glade).
• Amenities: A sink with running water is conveniently located near the port-a-john at the center of the campsite area.
• Things to do nearby: Only minutes from Ohio Caverns, Piatt Castle Mac-O-Chee, and Kiser Lake State Park.

I enjoy camping on Jay’s land. He offers you choice of site amongst 13 acres as well as use of a large covered deck, very clean private bath with a hot shower, microwave, and small fridge. The area is quiet and private and not far from interstate or town. I would stay again.

The site is beautiful, perfect for our large family. When you walk down into the campsite, it looks like a fairy glen! Beautiful, clear water in the creek, great for wading through. There's even an area deep enough to swim. We loved the sounds of the animals, and how it was quiet otherwise. Very private, with no other campers to worry about with the dogs. This is the first time we've been able to bring all our dogs, and they loved it as much as we did! The family are wonderful, kind people that truly seem to enjoy hosting families on their property. Honestly, not a single bad thing to say! We would recommend it to anyone and everyone we know!

We pulled a 30 foot travel trailer and had plenty of room to turn around. It is very quiet despite the frogs. I think the frogs helped me sleep. We stayed in late June, the breeze kept the trailer cool at night. We caught lots of fish for fun. Heather and her family were very pleasant and explained what is in each Pond. 110 electric was offered as well as water. We will keep this location for travel out east again.

I loved where we were able to pitch our tent near a small pond - it was far enough away from other campers to not be bothered by outside noise and still close enough to everyone that it felt safe being there with my son. Also, only a short walk to the bathroom/shower. Beautiful grounds, very well maintained. We were in town for an event at the convention center and were trying to save a little money camping vs. splurging on a hotel. Camping was a great decision! Would highly recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great spot if you want some privacy and a peaceful patch of nature without being far from town. It feels tucked away and is very convenient—only about 20 minutes from downtown activities, restaurants, and shops. Would definitely stay again!
