Great little getaway close to Cowan Lake. Loved the shack, the fire pit and picnic table in the woods were great. The fish feeding pond with covered dock was a wonderful bonus!
I do a lot of tent camping it is a wonderful time ofc setting up & taking down your camp site is a task itself . We wanted a night out of the house & enjoy the outside life & this spot is absolutely amazing to have had just that . A very relaxing peaceful private spot! Looking for a nice simple place to get away I highly recommend this place I will definitely be back . I actually probably will be booking another night getaway this weekend . Thank you have a blessed day

Fantastic spot! Loved the privacy of the fire pit/picnic table area and the shack is a very cool setup. Would absolutely stay again!
Stayed in the hideaway. It was a very hot weekend, it is July! Even in high humidity and a heat index over 100°F I was comfortable in the shaded area behind the tiny house. The outside was clean and stocked.
I was carrying a heavy mental load this weekend and this was the perfect place to sit quietly in nature and just exist away from the world.

Great place to stay! The area is peaceful, quiet, and beautiful.
Amazing sotr and location. This was the muddiest vacation I have ever been on, but that is not at fault to the site owner a cabin in the woods during one of the heaviest rains of the year is found to be muddy. A cute quiet place in the woods to listen to birds and reconnect with your loved ones. I only worn campers to stay on the path as there is poison ivy all over camp in the grass areas (even near the toilet) and verify what type of stove/gas is needed before arrival we made the mistake thinking it was closer to our portable Coleman and we were incorrect.
We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing/private weekend at the shack, everything was great, watching and feed the carp in the pond to catching a few fish ourselves and hanging out in the shaded area where the picnic table and fire pit is located, so many birds to watch and listen to this place is amazing

We loved staying at The Shack! So cozy, home away from home!
We loved staying in the cozy little shack! Relaxation at its best right here. Quiet, secluded little spot, great for my wife and I!
The land is beautiful. The cabin sits on the host's property but is secluded. Love the little fire pit space tucked away. The cabin is well build and was perfect for what we needed!
I did think there were cushions on the cots based on photo 6 by the host, but there is not. While decently comfortable without them, but they are squeeeeeky cots. Would recommend putting down a mattress and skipping the cots if you're a light sleeper like me.
The little terracotta heater was a nice touch. Definitely puts out some heat for as simple as it is! It got down to 40d toward the morning and even with a 25d sleeping bag, it was chilly enough to need the little bit of heat so we were thankful for that!
Would definitely stay again. Such a cute little cabin. I'm not a fishing gal, but the lake was super cute.

We have 2 small boys and brought our dog. We have a great time exploring the woods, fishing and making s'mores on the fire! Being so close to the lake was definitely convenient. The little cabin was great so we didn't need to set up the tent. We will book again.

When a rainy night was in the forecast during a camping road trip the Hideaway ended up being the perfect spot. I was saved from having soggy equipment and instead got to listen to the rain hitting the metal roof. The large windows are a plus in this cozy little accommodation surrounded by beautiful woods.
My partner and I had booked a campsite at the nearby Cowan Lake State Park campgrounds for the weekend as we visited the Ohio Ren Faire. Our first night was MISERABLE - other campers were far too close, the surrounding people were rude, it was awful. So awful we scoured the web the next morning to find somewhere else. Luckily the Hideaway was less than 10min away so we grabbed it - and it saved our WHOLE weekend. It is such a quiet, beautiful, pleasant little spot to crash when in the area - and still 20min from the Ren Faire! I'm unsure if we will ever be back in the area, but if we are best believe we'll be staying here!
Love the Shack!!! This property is so cute!! The pond is so fun to fish and watch the carp eat. The cabin is adorable and secluded. We love that the lake is so close, it's basically a lake house cabin! We don't often go back to places but this was our second trip here and we'll probably be back!!

The Hideaway cabin & surrounding land was very comfortable, quiet, & relaxing. The directions were easy to understand and the mowed grass walking paths were invaluable. The lake is a short walk down the lane and there is a hiking path entrance at that same location. We had a geeat time. Thank you!

Had a great stay! Cabin is tucked just inside the woods giving you privacy, has lots of windows, perfect for viewing nature, a comfortable bed and a clean outhouse which is located just short walk from cabin. Phyllis is very accommodating and quick to respond. Would highly reccomend the hideaway! We hope to be back and stay longer

Absolutely loved our time at the Shack! Phyllis was so kind in showing us her pond, where we saw the most beautiful sunset. We also got to feed the biggest fish we'd ever seen. Overall it was a blast and we will definitely be back.

Wonderful, private, and listening to the birds every morning was great. Short trip to the beach at Cowan Lake, swimming and hanging out was great. I’ll be back sometime soon.
Great place! We stayed at the little tree house. It was a perfect spot. Tucked into the edge of the woods and right next to the fire pit with picknick table and the Loo that were nestled in a clearing in the woods. The edge of the pond is visible from the front windows. We had the place all to ourselves. We fished the catch and release pond that had HUGE carp, and had dinner on the cute dock. We took our kayaks down to Cowan Lake, of which there is access to, about a mile down the road from the property. Owners were friendly. Offered us another night if we wanted, but even though their house is on the property (around the corner and barely visible) they gave us our space and we felt that our privacy was respected. There was a heating terracotta pot with candles which was so exciting! It got a little chilly but that heated us right up. The one burner stove is butane, not propane like stated, but B brought our little camp stove to make coffee anyways so we were all set. Bring everything you need to go camping and this place will be an absolute dream. I can't wait to go back! Check out more of my pictures. #Kentuckyhotwine

Cute little spot close to the lake! Loved being able to bring my dogs
Stayed for two nights but the first night there was a tornado watch and we decided to play it safe and got a hotel nearby. Came back the second night for a beautiful stay. The pond is right next to the shack which makes it a good place to go fishing! The host was kind and accommodating.
