McKee Farm is rich in memories and rich in history. It has been in the family for over 150 years and we were told that it was one of stopping points for the underground railroad. The 240 acre farm boasts a hidden cave, wide open fields, breathtaking forest land, and historic and rustic barns.
Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep.
Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy.
The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time.
Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table.
Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone.
In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

With over 230 acres, a lake, trails, the Grand River, plenty of wildlife, and FREE firewood. Bass and Buck Adventures is the perfect place to get away. Once known as Parkman Gorge the valley was a hub for water powered industry in the early 1800's. The river and valley is home to a wide array of wildlife. Deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, owls, mink, river otters to name a few. The area also attracts many song birds including a wide variety of warblers. There is also an abundance of wild flowers. The valley is rich in Native American history. Many artifacts have been found on the property. My great grandfather talked about the last Native American to live in Parkman. He had a cabin on one of the bluffs along the river. In the 1820's there was a water powered sawmill, flaxseed mill, and forge on the river. The boy scouts used the valley for a camp in the 1920,s. My grandpa purchased the property in the 50's from Ohio Edison. Ohio Edison's plan to dam up the river for hydro power never materialized. The valley has been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting. Many of the items used for the camp sites have been reclaimed. The fire rings are old tractor rims and scrap steel. The tent platform is from reclaimed deck lumber. The firewood is excess cutoffs purchased from a local sawmill.

This property is tucked away and you wouldn’t even know you’re close to town once you’re on site. Valley Vineyards is right down the road to enjoy a bottle of wine and cook your own steak dinner nights. Take a trip to visit Fort Ancient with a day hike. A Native American earthworks complex, the largest hilltop enclosure in the world and soon to be a World Heritage site! Enjoy some canoeing on the Little Miami River a State and National scenic river which is within walking distance. We have kayaks on location for the kids to play in the creek and creeks to hike with numerous fossils deposits. Southwestern Ohio is famous for its Ordovician fossil deposits. Kings Island is approximately 20 minute drive and the Ohio renaissance Festival is near. Caesars creek state park in Cowan lake state park is within a short drive. Smallmouth Bass fishing is awesome on Todd’s Fork and we have plenty of area to Wade fish.

Our farm has been in our family for more than 50 years. It was lovingly purchased by my Cherokee grandmother with the intention of gifting each of her children a piece of land. The tipi comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests—two on the provided queen bed, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses you bring. Cots are available to rent as an add-on. You’re also welcome to pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the surrounding trees, allowing space for up to 10 guests total.
The Ranch Experience
Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working ranch, home to plains bison, honeybees, chickens, and peafowl. We are proud to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat, Certified Firefly Habitat and Monarch Waystation.
Explore our scenic hiking trails that wind through rolling hills, wildflowers, and native grasses. Nature lovers will delight in the abundance of birds, butterflies, and wildlife throughout the property. After your hike, cool off in the clear, pristine creek bordering the ranch (water shoes recommended).

What We Offer
We provide four primitive camping sites on the banks of the Little Miami River, with two primitive camping cabins coming soon. Guests have access to 5 of our 11 acres of peaceful woods with walking trails to explore. Each site accommodates up to 6-8 guests, two leashed dogs, and three vehicles. Portable toilet facilities are available on-site, and we maintain a quiet, generator-free environment for authentic outdoor experiences. Our land is a prime location for fishing, tubing, swimming, and river activities, situated just minutes from Lebanon and Morrow.

Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.
They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.
In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.
The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.
We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also.
The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities.
The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles.

Glamping Cabins
We have two glamping cabins that include beds and lanterns so you get the feel of sleeping in nature but comfortably. Each cabin has a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. One cabin has a queen-size bed and the second has a full-size bed and a trundle bed with 2 twin-size mattresses. The cabins do not have electric or water. A porta-potty is located near the barn (a 5 minute walk) and a lug-able loo or portapotty will be available closer to the cabins depending on when you stay.
We are happy to help get your gear back to the cabins with the farm cart and then it is an 8-minute walk along a hay pasture to the parking area.
Tent Camping
Our tent camping spots are located under Mother Oak, a 100-year-old oak tree in the middle of our farm. With ample shade, a fire pit, and nearby portapotty, you can relax under the stars into the night.
Hiking trails weave through the back of the property and you are welcome to explore those as well.
Because we are a working homestead and farm, a few things are true:
-Sometimes there’s mud. We suggest boots for walking around the property and in the woods.
-Our farm animals are great - and may also bite. Please do not pet or chase them. We are happy to arrange opportunities to interact with the animals. Just ask!
-Not always, but at times, our neighbors will start farming early in the morning and you can hear their machinery.
All of our sites have privacy but are not truly remote. We want you to enjoy yourselves but please be mindful that our house is on the property as well as our neighbors. Music needs to be turned down to a low level by 11 PM.
We can accommodate pop-up campers, camper vans, etc near Mother Oak as well. Please message with any questions before reserving. Additional fees would apply.
We can also accommodate larger tent camping groups depending on the day. Additional fees would apply.
The homestead is located near 58 so you can hear cars during the day and night. The cabins are about a ½ mile from the road so the noise is greatly reduced.
We regularly host modern homesteading workshops, full moon yoga, and sound baths at the farm. If you would like to inquire about booking one of these as an add-on to your stay, please message us!
Conveniently located 1 mile from Oberlin College, 6 minutes from the turnpike (I-80), and 35 minutes from Cleveland, Heartland Homestead is like stepping away from the hustle of everyday life and into nature. Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet.
Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails.
From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location.
We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

Several sites available on an organic blueberry farm near Oberlin College and Lake Erie. Blueberries are ripe in July. Site #2 is down by the Chance Creek, about 1/2 mile from the driveway. Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site. Site #1 is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed. Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and/or there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. We don't have a latrine. We have two "luggable-loo's" if you need them, have liners, too.

Firefly Forest is a working family farm located on 75 acres in beautiful Athens County Ohio. We raise goats, sheep, waterfowl, poultry, and livestock guardian dogs. Guests will have access to miles of hiking trails, two ponds, viewing areas for our homestead's many different species of livestock, picnic areas, fire pits, star gazing areas, and more. We are also always working to bring new attractions to the farm. Our property also plays host to lush flora and fauna, from deer and foxes, to paw paws and persimmons.

Jennifer and her husband are amazing hosts. The land is beautiful, and the campsite offers a private experience with lots of amenities and luxuries. I highly recommend any and all of their campsites, I know I will be returning in the future!

It was such a joy to come back to our beloved campsite on the river. Dirk and Lori put such care into their land and were incredibly gracious hosts. The return of wildlife to the space was a highlight. I've only recently gotten into birdwatching but Merlin picked up so many that I've wanted to see and hope still to catch site of - scarlet tanagers, indigo buntings, baltimore orioles. The red-shouldered hawk made a couple appearances and Lousiana waterthrushes were bobbing around on the rocks. We got to share this with new-to-camping friends and it was a perfect experience despite the rainy Saturday. Sunday was tubing and paddle-boarding, reading by the river. Looking forward to many more lazy weekends riverside.

Bass and Buck Adventures was a great place to camp and explore! The property is vast and has many trails to check out. I’d recommend having a charged phone with AllTrails with you because it’s easy to get side-tracked looking at the rivers and cool features of the property.
My friends and I stayed at the Lake View campsite and it was awesome. One thing to note is you might hear gunshots from adjacent properties during hunting seasons (as expected anywhere with this amount of land). Great place, great amenities (free firewood), great time!

Incredible, David was incredibly welcoming, checked in regularly, stuck around for some chit-chat. The longhall straight up saved us when a storm came through and we could take shelter there (if no one had reserved it already).
There's so many little nooks and crannies to hangout at, a creek to explore if that's your vibe. That outhouse really is great; we were met with the unfortunate timing of come in the weekend after a large party came through, but it was very well cleaned.

Weekend Trip to Sawdust FarmCamp
Perfect weekend getaway. Hosts were great and very helpful. There is a little hike down the hill to the creek. Morgan told us about the rocks and some history about the land. Very very friendly. 10/10 would stay again.
The only downfall we noticed is there is no way to lock the cabin at night from the inside.

We’ve been to Bass and Buck multiple times before, but this was our first time at the Lakeview site.
We arrived on the later side, and it was nice that it was a fairly short walk from parking area. However, it still felt very private and secluded. Waking up to the view of the lake was beautiful, and the site is spacious and fully wooded. I have two young kids, so I was a little worried about how close we would be to the water in case one of them woke up during the night to use the bathroom, but that wasn’t an issue at all. You’re close enough that the view is nice, but no one will accidentally wander into the water.
As always, Rick was an excellent host. He gave us good driving directions on how to park at the site, and checked on us the next day to see how our stay had been. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Our group had a great time at firefly forest! Tent site #2 had more than enough room for our two tents and picnic table and fire pit was super nice. Loved the views of the pond, and the provided kayaks and were a lot of fun!

Beautiful property with an absolutely mighty Oak Tree! Our children really enjoyed seeing the animals and even though it was kinda cold and windy we really enjoyed our stay and had a lovely family campfire. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing/private weekend at the shack, everything was great, watching and feed the carp in the pond to catching a few fish ourselves and hanging out in the shaded area where the picnic table and fire pit is located, so many birds to watch and listen to this place is amazing

J was very attentive and thorough with my needs and communication. The camper was so cute and had a great rustic and modern style on the inside. The shower and the outhouse was the most impressive. Upscale and clean for a camper vibe. There is access to trails you can spend hours walking in just behind the camper. Its also 20 min from town so a doable drive just in case you need to pick up anything you forgot.

I loved camping on Nick's land got to explore the river and he has fresh fire wood for my family. It rained quite a bit and my car got stuck not once but twice and he quickly ran to the rescue. So kind and accommodating. I would definitely camp there again. The site was near a train track but it honestly wasn't bad. This was my first time using hip camp and I couldn't have had a better host to get me excited to camp more this year using the app.

Tent camping here was amazing! We were super close to the horses, so we were able to say hi to them and even the goat! This site is at an angle so it’s a bit tricky to find a flat spot especially with multiple tents

After studying Norse Mythology, my 4th graders had a culminating overnight at this Viking Longhall. It was exactly the experience I was hoping for! David was very accommodating and hospitable. They loved the archery, creek swing, fire pit and the ambiance of the longhouse and yurt!

Every thing was exactly as stated. What a super nice guy. Responded within minutes of my initial question’s. This is a beautiful site to camp. Easy river winding through the outside. Firewood, walking area, wonderful graveled roads. Within 10 minutes of a small town with all the amenities you might need.
Folks, do yourself a favor, reserve anyone of Marks sites and you won’t be disappointed….
We will be back, and we have invited a few friends of which we plan to reserve for the same evening.
