PJ and Michelle always offer wonderful hospitality. They have spent a great effort into updates to the cabin, such a new flooring on the first floor and new furniture. It feels very homey and relaxing. It is a great place to relax, recharge and catch up with family or friends. We look forward to this weekend every year!

What a great place. So much to explore. I enjoyed it greatly.
The cabin is cozy, and there are acres of privacy; the scenary is beautiful. There is plenty of space inside the cabin for people to walk around, get comfy, and eat a hearty meal. The upstairs has 2 beds that are at queen-sized. There are plenty of books and DVD movies, a wall-mounted TV, 2 big sofas (3 seat and 2 seat), a massive bean bag, and a dining table. The restroom includes a toilet, sink, bathtub shower, and a washer and dryer. The kitchen has a mini fridge with a freezer, dual sink, microwave, gas stove, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of pots, pans, and dishware. There is plenty of heat to keep you warm in the wintertime. The place is very clean - vacuums included.
Wi-fi and cell phone signals are not really accessable at the United Cabin but they are at the host's home property, which is a 3 min drive away.
Nearby, there is a small pond, a cornfield, plenty of hills, and forests with trails.

We had a quick stop over at James farm on a road trip West and it was everything we needed. He responded quickly and even got us some fire wood last minute. We didn’t get to meet as we arrived late and left early but it was a beautiful place. The bathroom in the barn a great plus!

Weekend Trip to Ashcraft Hills
We stayed at the A-frame this past weekend and absolutely loved it! The place was super clean and had literally everything we needed (we definitely overpacked 😅). There was plenty of firewood for us, which made hanging out by the fire so nice.
PJ was awesome — super friendly, available if you need anything, and honestly willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. When we arrived, a few lights weren’t working, and he was super concerned it might ruin our stay. He even offered to come fix them right away, but it really wasn’t an issue for us at all.
We also loved that we could bring our dogs! They had the best time running around off leash and exploring. Cell service isn’t great out there, but honestly, that was exactly what we needed — the perfect little disconnect.
This was our first time using the Hipcamp app, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. We’d 100% come back again!

Some of the reviews are overly critical of Matt's camping area. The campgrounds are easy to get to, with improved gravel roads. The road leading to his land is mostly paved, but only one way. The 4x4 camp sites are well marked. I had no issue getting my pop-up camper in and out from one of the close to the road spaces. Kermit's bottom did require 4x4 when climbing the gravel hill. He clearly states this many times in the listing.
All of that being said, the campground is peaceful, serene, and very colorful during the fall. Firewood is provided for a small fee, as well as a fire ring and picnic table. Close to town as well - you can get whatever you need within 10 minutes. Currently there are outdoor showers and a porta potty. I will definitely come back, and I'm sure it will only be a better experience.

4 nights at Ashcraft Hills
I'll tell you, the pictures are great but they don't do justice to the peace and comfort this place brings.
When we arrived the camp host told us to ask for anything we needed, and they held true to that. The property has tons of places to hike. Everything around you is gorgeous. The beds are comfy, and the cabin is warm.
There's no wifi or cellular signal, which was a benefit in my opinion.

It’s an awesome little camp ground! Nice swim/fishing pond, an outlet to charge a phone, outdoor showers with a propane water heater, firewood available and a porta potty. The property was really pretty! Walked the creek bed to see some cool rock formations, bunch of wildlife and had owls hooting to wake us up both mornings. 2nd time there now, I will visit again! I walked past the cabins while I was there also, definitely want to rent one of those, they look really nice.

My kids and I had an absolute blast camping at Tullihas in the Trees! It's just as amazing as it looks in the pictures and so much more!
The beds were unquestionably comfy, the cabin very well appointed, and despite the freezing night temperatures, the little heater in the corner kept us toasty warm without a struggle.
My kidds loved the swings, I enjoyed the hammock quite a bit, and that was easily the nicest latrine I've seen in my 30+ years of camping.

1 night at Tranquil Acres Cabins
We had a great time at Shady Maple cabin! It was a beautiful place to unwind, de-stress, and be in an amazing setting! The cabin had everything you would need for a relaxing time. We love a good log cabin and this did not disappoint! It was clean, had snacks, jacuzzi tub inside, a hot tub outside, board games, was private enough and everything worked as it should. Shout out to the hosts for sharing this beautiful property with us! Will definitely go back!

About
In the heart of Ohio's Amish Country, Mohican State Park is a popular getaway for horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking, with convenient access to the 25-mile Mohican Mountain Bike Trail. Natural features include Lyons Falls, Clear Fork Gorge, and the Mohican River, while Pleasant Hill Lake—ideal for canoeing and kayaking—is nearby. If you want to stay the night, Mohican State Park Campground has 186 campsites and 25 camper cabins, with a mix of full hookups, electric, and non-electric sites, plus shower houses, flush toilets, a dump station, a camp store, a basketball court, and a seasonal swimming pool.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can make reservations over the phone or online by calling the Ohio State Parks reservation line. Walk-ins aren’t allowed.
- Campsites are available from six months in advance of your stay, while cabins are available up to 12 months in advance.
- Cabins must be reserved at least one day in advance, while campsites can be reserved up until the day of your stay.
- Weekends require a minimum 2-night stay, except on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, which require 3-night stays. To stay just one night, either book a weeknight or wait until seven days before your stay (for campsites) or 10 days (for cabins), when last-minute, one-night stays are released.
When to go
Each season offers its own special charms, with ample opportunities for hiking, fishing, and camping in warmer months and great snowmobiling in winter. Summers are the busiest time to visit, particularly between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Autumn is a great time to visit, when crowds are fewer and the trees begin to change color. It’s usually still warm enough to comfortably camp overnight well into October.
Know before you go
- The park’s camp store sells basic supplies, with more extensive options available in Loudonville, just outside the park.
- Up to two pets are allowed at each campsite, and some cabins are also pet-friendly.
- Some tent sites and pull-through sites are ADA accessible.
- Group camping is available in a separate area of the park, away from the family campground, and offers a more primitive experience, with fire rings, drinking water, and pit latrines.

Dispersed camping is allowed, and in my opinion, is the best, along with "park and pack" sites. But there are also primitive camp sites at the campground, with toilets near by, as well as RV and electric sites. Lots of hiking trails, mountain biking trails and equestrian trails. If you want some off the beaten path, longer, more challenging hikes, I'd suggest using the bike paths or the horse trails, just be respectful to others. Yield to bikers and horses, speak a friendly hello to riders and their mounts, so that they aren't afraid of you ( trust me I ride horses and sometimes they think your giant backpack and trekking poles will eat them).

We camped here for 3 nights last summer. Mohican State Park is kind of spread out in the state forest. There's good hiking, tubing down the creek & a picturesque covered bridge with a picnic area. The falls are a little sparse in August, but we still had a good time hiking.
The campground has over 150 electric sites. There are cottages too. Flush toilets are scattered all over the campground, while the main shower
house is by the pool. There's laundry facilities also.
The best sites are by the creek. We had site 78, which had a partial view of the creek. The best sites were : 86, 100, & 142. Large, & right on the creek. Reservations are a must, especially during the summer. It was pretty crowded when we were there.
