1 night at Pop's Place Camping

We enjoyed our stay at Pop's Place! They have a beautiful location full of country charm. Our site had a campfire ring, electric hookup and a gravel parking pad. There is also a large campfire circle with seating in the middle of the property. They have a clean porta-potty on site as well as a very cute outdoor shower. Even though our spot was near the road, there was hardly any traffic after dark. Michelle came out to greet us as soon as we arrived- she was a fantastic host! Thank you for having us Michelle- we had a very peaceful stay!

Weekend Trip to Triple D Retreat

If you’re looking for a quite place to relax With lots of fun things to do locally you will definitely want to check this place out. Lots of space for a couple or large group. The shelter is great along with a picnic table Fire Ring and a pit toilet. We will be back.

4 nights at EJT Retreat

The drive up to the cabin was a bit tricky. I was a little worried the first time up the hill in the car. But let me tell you, once we were up the hill, it was our little place of solitude for the week. The pond was my daughter’s favorite! So many frog and toad sounds at night. So fun. Fire pit and hot tub were also a huge bonus. The bed was very nice, we didn’t attempt to raise it at all; we just left it for our trip but it was the perfect little cabin for us. Esther was extremely attentive with anything I needed during our stay or any questions I had. Brent even surprised us with some fire wood one day. They were very thoughtful! We would absolutely stay again!

This was a special gem ; like no other ,more like a scene from a children’s book , because it was so beautiful. The energy was peace. That’s his name. I don’t know what the hell their name is. The hospitality was outstanding. From the host , very kind people. Nice and clean.

3 nights at Fruitdale Farm

Me and my boyfriend had a blast at fruitdale farm...the peace and quiet and listening to the wildlife was amazing...not to mention watching the stars and just relaxing. Thank you Amiee for the stay

We absolutely loved camping here! Fern rock is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect view for camping. The creek was also super gorgeous with a small cascading waterfall. We had a lovely fire and hammocked in the trees. There were so many fireflies from about 8-11pm that were the highlight of our stay. The way they lit up the rock was incredible. The winery was closed while we visited but there were a few others close by we were able to go to! Jim was an amazing host and was very responsive over texts. He has an absolutely gorgeous property and I highly recommend staying here if you visit hocking hills!

Folks, book it! Fruitdale Farms is the ideal spot for tent camping or enjoying quiet nights in one of their wonderful cabins on the property. There's solid trails, a refreshing pond to take a dip, a beautiful stream, along with plenty of shade in the woods. You will be kindly welcomed. It's an 11 outta 10!

It was a great spot that we choose. I wasn't aware that the whole property was first come first serve in a sense but when we got there, there wasn't anyone else so we had lots of spots to choose from. It was very simple to get there despite not having an cell service which was great in my option. It wasn't too far to the nearest gas station or the local town, just drive carefully. The rules were very clear and easy enough to understand and respect. The bathroom was very well kept and clean along with the shower. Overall we had a great time and would definitely come back!

The site was amazing, private and filled with nature! We loved the bison and being able to get away from the city for a night easily with the accommodations, a kitchen area and inside the tipi is so nice!

Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound. Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1). ***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.

Visiting the Hocking Hills ? No interest in crowded campgrounds ? you have found 75 acres mostly wooded with trails right at the start of the Hocking Hills. (easy access from 33 and to Logan) There are various places around the property to pitch a tent. There are also options for RV parking with no hookups as well as a site with 30/50 amp. I can transport you and your gear to the remote sites. ATV's are also welcome on the property. Firewood will be provided for free and in abundant amount. The site on top of the hill is a very secluded and mowed crest of hill surrounded by dogwood trees and the invasive Autumn Olive bushes. The site above the rxrwinery.com is a secluded, mowed clearing in the mature woods. There are also 2 sites in the valley that allow you to be near your vehicle. While on my property, clothing is optional but respect for other campers is expected. If you are traveling with an RV, the Sunny Rest location is the best with campfire. This is a valley and may get soft after heavy rain. Please keep wheels near the lane if there's any question to the ground conditions and maneuvering your vehicle, please contact me.

Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding. About

This state park turns up the volume on a hike in the hills. Wooded gorges open out into sandstone caves and caverns, where layer-cake cliffs tower overhead and waterfalls cascade into misty pools and gurgling streams. Popular hiking trails lead the way to Ash Cave, Whispering Cave, Old Man’s Cave, and Cedar Falls, while guided tours offer activities including horseback riding, kayaking, and 4WD excursions. Hocking Hills Campground has plenty of space for RVs and tents—alternatively, get back to nature at a hike-in primitive sites, or book a cozy log cabin or treehouse in the woods.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve one of 169 campsites at (including 156 electric and 13 non-electric sites) via the Reserve Ohio website. All sites must be reserved in advance.
Campsite reservations open six months in advance, and all sites can be reserved online.
Campsites can book up fast, so reserve as early as possible, especially if visiting during peak season or on holiday weekends.

When to go

Hocking Hills State Park is open year-round from dawn to dusk. In summer, the shaded trails and cool caves provide welcome relief from the heat, while winter visitors can bring snowshoes and admire the frozen waterfalls. Fall foliage peaks from the second weekend of October, making this one of the most magical times to explore the forest.

Know before you go

Hocking Hills State Park is 55 miles southeast of Columbus, or about a 1-hour drive.
There are no entrance fees for Ohio State parks, but camping reservation fees apply.
Facilities include a visitor center, park store, picnic areas with grills and drinking water, and restrooms. The campground has flush toilets, hot showers, and vending machines.
Cell phone service is patchy throughout the park, but the visitor center offers wifi.
Accessible campsites, picnic areas, and restrooms are available at Hocking Hills State Park. Ash Cave and Conkle’s Hollow lower trail are accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

Old Man’s Cave Campground

It's Old Man's Cave! Hard to go wrong here. Another spot that seems to be more suited to RV camping than tent camping. WE actually paid to stay in the group area because were with a few other families. Loved the spot. Close to the restrooms, showers, laundry, and the kids favorite: the pool! It was hot when we went to s it was nice for the kids to get to cool off in the pool. The restroom was clean. If you find yourself needing to use the laundry (like we did thanks to some rain, and a leaky tent..... thankfully it was just some wet towels) make sure you have some change, and bring your own detergent and fabric softener. We definitely plan on going again.

Old Man’s Cave Campground

Something between an RV park and a state park campground. Don't let the crowds put you off, tho. Grin and bear it at the campground, then during the day take full advantage of the lovely trails, the caves, the natural rock formations and those rivers. Bathrooms are new-ish, but there's a real bug problem at this campground (maybe because the water treatment is right on site); bathrooms swarmed. My campsite (G1, right between the public swimming pool and the sewage treatment area) is best avoided but try to score the larger group campsite next to G1, and you should be okay. What I loved: the trails through rhododendron jungles, the rush of the river and the falls.
