This was my first time at Geneva Hills, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The staff was friendly, and the location was easy to find. The property is heavily wooded, and all the roads are gravel, so keep that in mind before arriving. It was also very quiet during my stay, with only a small youth group and a men’s retreat on-site—though there were some unexpected gunshots early Sunday morning around 3am.
My campsite itself was decent but somewhat exposed, with only one truly flat area, which could make setting up multiple larger tents difficult. Since I was camping solo, it worked out fine. The site was clean, which is always a plus, but the picnic table and fire ring were positioned on a slope, which wasn’t ideal.
One downside was that the closest restrooms (at the pool house) were closed, so I had to drive up to the welcome center to use facilities. Additionally, many of the campsites around the pond could benefit from some regrading and added fill dirt. Grass was minimal, so I imagine it could get quite muddy after rain.
Overall, it’s a decent place to camp—as long as you know what to expect going in, you’ll likely have a good experience.
