We offer six shelters and nine primitive tent sites. We are incredibly close to the various trails located across the Cuyahoga Valley. THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK! 1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm. 2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time. 3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots 4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use. 5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property. 6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns. 7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers 8. The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels. Within about a half-hour drive, there are many opportunities for hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, hunting and fishing, and birding.  Nearby parks and forests include Hocking Hills State Park, Hocking Hills State Forest, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest, and more!Set up camp wherever you like!  There are 12 acres of open field space, surrounded by 50 acres of wooded hills and hollows with hiking trails and level spots to pitch tents. Vehicles can be driven to the field sites; we are still working on a road to access the hill sites by vehicle.  The fields have about a dozen "permanent" sites with stone or metal fire rings and log seating.  Portable fire rings are also available that can be moved anywhere.  Dead wood for campfires is free to gather, or split firewood is available to purchase for $5/bundle. A toilet and solar shower are located at the center of the property. An outdoor water spigot is also available. Guests are expected to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles. Any trash packed onto the property must be bagged and taken with you.

McKee Farm is rich in memories and rich in history. It has been in the family for over 150 years and we were told that it was one of stopping points for the underground railroad. The 240 acre farm boasts a hidden cave, wide open fields, breathtaking forest land, and historic and rustic barns. Nestled at the edge of a wooded creek, Tullihas in the Trees treehouse boasts a beautiful sunset view with rolling hills. Tullihas combines comfort with the thrill of being immersed in nature. Built using recycled electric poles, Tullihas in the Trees has a deck perfect for hammocking, an interior dressed with windows so that guests can feel as if they are living amongst the trees, and two small lofts ideal for a restful night's sleep. Oxley in the Woods is our newest treehouse cabin. Nestled in the woods with a view of the sunset, the lovely A Frame is filled with lovely woodwork, vintage parquet flooring, and private wooded views. The deck is huge! We've had guests set up a tent on the deck beside the treehouse for fun! Swings, and a slide make the Oxley a fun adventure. The double bed in the loft and the two stacked single beds are comfortable and cozy. The McKee Farmhouse was built in the 1800s and is rich in memories. It's a rustic old house, with wood trim, hardwood floors, and plenty of imperfections that make it unique. You can sit on the porch and drink your coffee with a view of the barn and pastures, or cozy up in one of the house's four bedrooms and sleep in. The house is fully air conditioned and heated, has all the amenities of home, but takes you back to a simpler time. Our campsites are all set apart from one another in various locations on the 240 acre farm. Secluded and unique, each campsite has its own charm. We provide guests with a fire ring and a shovel, and some sites have a picnic table. Hiking trails are marked throughout the land. Guests can hike with views of horses, cows, wildlife, corn fields, large boulders, and rustic barns. The dirt roads provide great places to drive ATVs and four-wheelers. An Amish farm borders McKee Farm. Guests should know there is minimal cell service, however, this can offer a great opportunity to unplug. Tullihas in the Trees provides a perfect remote and rustic getaway for anyone. In October and November, access to hiking is limited.

The Peace Portal: --------------------- This comfy, rustic tiny house sits next to a beautiful pond. Watch the wild birds and animals through its large upcycled window, or sip your morning coffee on its sunny front porch. Enjoy a private picnic table and fire ring, as well as access to a shared standard half bath. Booking includes a farm fresh breakfast (kindly let us know of any dietary restrictions in advance) and one load of firewood. Tent Camping ------------------ Deep in our property is our camping area. You'll have a wide open view of the stars, plus a large picnic area + fire ring all to yourself. There is a composting toilet right at the campsite, or you may use a (shared) standard half bath a short walk away. Most days you can park right at the campsite (unless we've had a lot of rain and the ground is soft). This means you can bring your pop-up camper, teardrop, or sprinter van and have a private camping experience. Add breakfast and let us do the cooking for you! Blue Cabin: -------------- Located just down the road from our farm, the Blue Cabin is a private, off-grid cabin on a heavily wooded lot. Enjoy lots of shade, and a space that often stays cool, even in the heat of summer. Amenities include a picnic table and fire ring (comes with one load of firewood), water via a Berkey filter, and a composting toilet. We have two finished studio cabins. They are very close (2 miles) to the town of Mount Vernon, OH with hiking trails on the property. Pets are allowed but there are free range animals on the property so their safety is priority. We have added a 2 acre fenced in area for dogs off leash. It's our version of a Dog Park. Plenty of bike trails around town and only 20 miles to Mohican State Park. Farm fresh eggs from our rescued chickens and local honey are available for purchase. Money from our vacation rental helps with feeding our rescue animals and expanding our non-profit animal sanctuary.

Weekend Trip to Pop's Place Camping

The Bear Cabin was superb. Very comfortable, they had already set the AC before we got there. They had firewood available, if we wanted it. This is our second time here and the owners are amazingly friendly and helpful.

Weekend Trip to The Viking Longhall

Our stay at the Viking Longhall was wonderful! We stayed with a small group of friends and, lucky for us, we basically had the place to ourselves for the weekend. We played in the creek and spent time around the fire. It's a really chill environment, and especially fun for a bunch of ren faire/DnD nerds like ourselves! We had the Creekside Cottage and our friends were in the Yurt. Both shelters were awesome. They provide tons of options for cooking and all the little things you might forget. My only regret is that we only had a few days! The grounds and Longhall are truly something to behold. Hearing about the history of the place made it even cooler! We can't wait to go back! Super close to Serpent Mound, also closeby are other sacred Native American sites, hiking areas and state parks, and more. Thanks, Dave, for the hospitality! Can't wait to meet Iveagh too next time!

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres

We had an amazing stay at Woody Acres. We stayed in the Hickory Hut while our friends stayed in the Peppermint Patty Wagon, and both accommodations were thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. From comfortable bedding and extra linens to cooking supplies, serving ware, and other little incidentals, it was clear the hosts put a lot of care into anticipating guests' needs. The property is absolutely beautiful and truly feels like an immersive nature retreat. The nature-inspired décor is intentionally curated, with so many personal touches that make each space feel warm and unique. We also appreciated that Woody Acres is dog-friendly, making it easy to bring our pups along for the adventure. Kate and Austin were wonderful hosts—kind, communicative, and available whenever we needed them while still giving guests plenty of privacy. One of the highlights of our trip was joining them for a plant identification walk. It was incredibly informative, engaging, and gave us an even greater appreciation for the property and the surrounding landscape. The mowed walking trails throughout the property were perfect for exploring, and the beautifully landscaped sites offer plenty of privacy between campers. The outdoor composting toilet and shower were both very clean and only a short walk from our hut. We also loved how close Woody Acres is to the Hocking Hills attractions, making it easy to enjoy the area's hiking options.

We had the absolute best time, Carie was an incredibly kind host. Our Tipi was set up and ready to go when we got there with everything that we could possibly need. I can’t recommend this place enough. My kids, dogs and I had the greatest time and have never been more relaxed or happy. Thank you so much for sharing your space with us. We will be back. If you’re thinking about visiting this place book, it do yourself a favour and book it right now. I guarantee you will not have a better stay anywhere else. The bison were so cool to see up close. The creek is perfect for swimming in. The water is clean. The grounds are gorgeous and wonderful to explore. It’s quiet and peaceful on everything you could ever want.

We had a great stay on the farm during an overnight trip to visit Cuyahoga National Park. The peaceful location was within minutes to the visitor center & local trailheads. Our kids loved the little lending shed which had books and games for borrowing. Portapotties were the cleanest we have ever experienced. The a-frame was a convenient option to store stuff in case of bad weather. We’d enjoy coming back on future trips. Beware that specifically at campsite 6 there is no level ground, especially for a larger tent. It would have been difficult to find level space for a small tent as well. We appreciate the need to use the firewood on site but unfortunately the box we received was very wet wood which made lighting & maintaining a fire difficult- plan accordingly.

Awesome hipcamp! Location was super easy to find— maps took us right to the well-marked campsites. The Hickory Hut was adorable and well stocked with camping essentials should anyone forget to bring along matches, bug spray, etc. The outdoor shower and toilet were both clean and functional, and both were only a very short walk from the cabin. AC works well, and even on a toasty night the cabin stayed nice and cool in the evening. Thank you Kate and Austin (and Rubeus!) for a great stay! Also, check out the pond if you have time. I braved a refreshing dip— highlight of the stay!

What a unique and incredible experience! Thank you Carie for the experiences and memories to last a lifetime. Our experience echoed that of the many positive reviews left before us. Carie truly did think of everything and we had everything we needed for our stay. We purchased some bison meat to take home and my son was excited that he got take home some peacock feathers as a souvenir. We hope to be back!
