Dogwood Cabin is an off grid experience. Think glamping. It is set on 25 acres in the rolling hills of Morgan County in southeast OH, close to the village of Chesterhill. Hidden in the woods, back a gravel driveway. No electricity, no running water, no central heat, no WiFi, no cell service. Truly getting out into nature without distractions. Hang your hammock between trees. Build a fire to grill your meals. Relax on the porch swing or by the fire. Hike the property, play in the creek. Dogwood Cabin has a small kitchenette. There is a propane camping stove and some pots, pans, coffee maker, and dishes. We have a grill to place over the fire pit. There are 4 mattresses in the loft. No linens. Bring sleeping bags, etc. No running water. Bring water in jugs for drinking, cleaning up and dousing the fire. Buddy propane heater to take off the chill inside, but not make it cozy. Bring a flashlight or lantern. We have several battery lanterns. On low, the lights should work for 6-8 hours. On high, much less. An outhouse (think wooden porta potty) is not far from the cabin. No cell service or internet. Chesterhill is about 2 miles and has service in numerous places on Main St. We have gone up the hill at the church in Todds - right on Goshen Run, left on St Rt 377, about 2 miles. Firewood is not provided. You can bring your own or scrounge the woods for dead branches and twigs. Please douse the fire before leaving. Rake leaves away from the fire pit. Dry materials could easily start a forest fire. 8 plastic deck chairs are stacked on the porch. Please put them back and secure the cover before you leave. We encourage you to get groceries on your way to the cabin, since it is 30 minutes to a decent grocery store. Chesterhill has Ron's Convenience and Restaurant where you can buy subs, pizza, burgers, fries, and groceries. Triple Nickel Diner in Chesterhill is another neat place to eat. No motorcycles on the driveway. You may enjoy hiking the 25 acres on the property. Nature is awesome, but check yourselves and your pet for ticks. 24 hours before your arrival, you should receive a message with the code to get in at the digital entry door, plus a bit more information that you may enjoy.

Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet. Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails. From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location. We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres

Everything here is magical. We stayed in the peppermint wagon and two days was not enough. July 4th weekend Temps were 95 but we found shade under the outdoor kitchen. And the trails were pleasantly cool under the trees. At night a little fan provided and the windows open kept it at a comfortable temperature. We loved the outdoor shower! And the Privy is stocked and clean. We really enjoyed our campfire visits from Austin. He really made you feel welcomed on his property. We are coming back next month and bringing our mother. She's going to love it just as much as we did! So close to all the hocking hills trails. We never ran out of things to do! It was fun to hike a trail, come back to camp and cook lunch and then head back out to our next trail. Thank you Austin and Kate for sharing your beautiful land with us. Can't wait for the next trip out there!!!. Would love to rent every spot and bring the entire family sometime !

6 nights at EJT Retreat

We loved staying at Esther's place! It's just as advertised, if not even more charming. We were there during the hottest week of the year so far (temps near triple digits), and the A/C & fans kept up well. The furnishings were comfortable and along with the items we brought from home, made for a cozy stay. Thank you!!

3 nights at Hocking Hills Family Fun Center

Pay attention to the pictures. The cabin itself is as follows: 1 bunkbed with a queen/full size bottom bunk bed. And an additional bed. 3 total. A microwave, mini fridge like in a dorm room and a small window unit air conditioner. The bathroom/showers are about 100 yards away depending on what cabin you stay in. It is very peaceful. The air conditioner does cool the cabin sufficiently. Picnic table. Fire pot. There is electricity. You Can plug in other things easily. No TV but honestly we didnt even care. So much to do on the campground itself. They have putt putt. A monstrous inflatable water park for the kids. Showing movies at night. Very nice. Very clean. Very good experience and I am usually too bougie to be honest.

Great place to stay! Had all the essentials we need to chill by a fire and cook some food. Cabin was small but comfy, shower down the road was perfect to cool off and clean up after a hot summer day. Would 100% recommend to a friend and hope to come back!

1 night at Appalachian Retreat Camp

This little a-frame was wonderful!! I was on my way home from NYC so I needed a quiet woodsy recovery space and this was perfect. Nestled in the hilly woods but not too far to walk to, and a screened window to open to hear all the woods sounds. I fell asleep to the sound of rain too early to hear the owl, but apparently there was one! I also love the history of this place - the a-frame was built in the same spot as an old cabin that eventually fell apart. J's grandfather was born in that cabin way back when.

Weekend Trip to The cozy mountain log cabin

My family and I had a lovely time in our little cabin. We were greeted when we arrived and got all the info we needed for the weekend. Even the resident dogs came to say hello, which the kid loved. Mornings at the cabin were particularly beautiful- so peaceful and full of song birds. There were other cabins on the property, but the lush forest made you feel secluded. It was a nice little getaway.

The peppermint patty wagon was such a nice stay over the weekend. we had no issues whatsoever. it was such beautiful land to be on. The stars at night were gorgeous and i definitely recommend anyone to stay here on kate and austin’s land.

Haught Run Campground

Unfortunately, this site does not exist anymore as the campsites were washed out in flooding from the little muskingum river. Was my favorite secluded spot for all of my youth.
