Super private and well equipped site! We were there during a muddy period, so the drive in was a little slippery. The property is incredible, and you can see the care put into every aspect of it. We had a visit from the sweetest farm dog as well! 11/10 stars if I could :)
Owen is a wonderful host and the property itself is stunning! I will say GET THE TAXI SERVICE the campsites are a bit of a hike but so so worth it. The campground kitties Elvira and Jynx are absolute sweeties and the pond was perfect for a dip after the summer heat.

We stayed at Site 3. Owen was very welcoming. Glad we paid to use the taxi service and have him provide fire wood. Loved our site, the pond, and the location near Athens, Strouds Run.

Really enjoyed our time at Firefly Forest. The campsite has a great atmosphere, and the pond was definitely our favorite feature—super relaxing and beautiful to hang out around. We’d definitely come back again!

Firefly campground has 80 acres to offer with lots to come including cabins. Owen is very passionate about his land and over joyed to tell you all about it, if you want. He respects your privacy and wants everyone that stays to enjoy themselves. If you do camp I'd highly recommend the taxi hauling service ($20). Camps 2 & 4 are mostly uphill and 1 & 3 are an up and down battle with gear to carry. Remember you're here to relax not lug things around. And after rain it is almost impossible to pull a wagon through the mud. Lucky we were able to add it as we would have never made it with all of our gear. He also offers tours of his working farm (add on as well) that you can here at your site. There's a pond to swim in with a platform to jump off, pool noodles and life jackets to use with the 2 kayaks. The wildlife is plenty as our first morning there we were woken by a woodpecker hammering on the picnic table, LOL and the frogs croaking at the pond will put you to sleep. We didn't even walk the whole 80 acres and it still took almost 2 hours. Some parts will even make your calves burn. If you're looking to get away from it all and recharge this is the place. If you want to star gaze you will have to venture to the pond as the sites have a very good canopy. We stayed at site 3, it's a side of the hill. He does offer a tent pad which is the only flat spot but it's for a 4 person tent. Ours 6 person tent was 1 foot to short on both sides, so be prepared to improvise and have fun

owen is a great host, and a very genuine man. lovely property with lots to explore. very peaceful spot to just unplug. if you don't mind roughing it, this place is just right
PLEASE GET THE TAXI SERVICE! These sights are a backpackers dream, but if you’re hauling more than what’s on your back, PLEASE message the host and purchase the taxi service. It’s so worth it and so convenient. We had so much fun and everything was perfect, If only we purchased the taxi service… But regardless our site was amazing! There was a little swimming lake with free floaties, and kayaks! So dreamy, and the host was perfect and super nice! Highly recommend this so anyone looking for a quiet stay in nature!

Firefly Forest is a great getaway for anyone looking for some relaxation in nature. My partner and I stayed two nights and Owen was a great host, very easy to communicate with and the taxi service is super helpful! The campsite was perfect with some trees to hammock in and the hiking trails are nicely mowed. It’s a great spot for bird watching too. Would recommend!

Our group had a great time at firefly forest! Tent site #2 had more than enough room for our two tents and picnic table and fire pit was super nice. Loved the views of the pond, and the provided kayaks and were a lot of fun!

Owen’s camp site is beautiful and secluded while still being close to Athens. The landscape was covered in spring flowers. We heard 20+ different types of birds, including a few owls that got very close to our campsite one night.
The taxi service is worth it if you are car camping and not backpacking.
Owen was super friendly, responsive, and gave us a good lay of the land and suggestions on what to do in the nearby area.

This was such a beautiful property, and I'm so grateful Owen is willing to share it with campers! It was fun to hike around and enjoy a quiet campsite.
Beautiful, spacious property with private secluded camp sites. Owen is an amazing host and was very helpful and provided great information for other things to do in the surrounding area as well. My son and I had an amazing time staying here and will definitely be back! I would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a wonderful adventure in the beautiful Appalachian foothills of south-east Ohio!

Firefly Forest was a great experience. Owen is very friendly and responsive, and they are doing some really cool things with their farm. The tent sites are roomy and spaced out. Good hiking and the swimming hole is amazing. Make sure to get eggs, not only are they pretty, they taste better than the store. Get the taxi service for your gear...this is the foothills after all and it's an uphill hike to the campsite. YOU CANNOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE no matter how confident you are. The road will not accommodate normal vehicles so you will have to hike in. It's totally worth it! The farm tour was amazing. We did it safari style with stops to see the grounds and the farm. Make sure to pet the goats, they're very sweet! We have found a new favorite spot and will be returning.
My partner and I stayed here for a couple of days and it didn't take long for the chats by the fire to turn to "oh, the next time we come here we should--".
It's equally obvious that Owen sincerely loves this place and wants you to enjoy your stay as it is that he respects campers ability to...camp. Meaning if you already camp often (and chances are if you read this review on this app, you do) than you will get the nesessary rundown and lay of the land from Owen and be left to just enjoy nature. There's ample wood available, compost toilets at every site, and fantastic trails full of love and attention to detail that I think only people that love the woods would appreciate.
Next time, I am definitely taking them up on the added "take your gear" offer so that I can focus on exploring those hills again. If you aren't experienced than Owen has you covered and if you are experienced, Owen has you covered. Dude clearly just wants you to have a good time regardless of your experience level. All in all this place is wonderful and I can't want to see it evolve because it's really doing something special.

Owen was extremely accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. We planned on camping at firefly forest and going to local attractions but everything we needed ended up being right there!! I don’t get a chance to spend time with all of my grown kids at once and this was a perfect place and made a perfect weekend. There are trails to hike, more than enough space at the campsite, kayaks to use and the swimming lake was awesome. I think our favorite thing was swimming.

Incredible place, even more amazing host
not only did Owen meet us late a night, he gave us a lift out to our site in the most fun off roading experience I've had, great place for any nature enjoyer and soooo much to see, will be back
We had such a wonderful and peaceful stay here on Owen's land. It was about a 5 minute hike from the parking lot to our campsite. Thank goodness Owen offers a ferry to help take your tent, coolers or any other heavy luggage from your car to your campsite and back for you for a small fee. It was super hot this weekend so our kids enjoyed jumping into the pond, swimming, kayaking, and our host Owen taught the kids how to catch tadpoles. The property is beautiful with plenty of tree coverage to keep you cool. My favorite part of the stay was at night when it was dark and the only lights were the stars and a few solar lights scattered throughout the property it felt like you were the fairies in the garden. It was beautiful. He has a petting zoo for a small fee that has peacocks, chickens, ducks, sheep, goats and the best thing ever PUPPIES. He let the kids help him collect eggs which made their whole day. Our only complaint is the weekend went by way too fast. The property is beautiful, campsite was secluded, swimming, hiking and the host is amazing. Thank you Owen for a wonderful weekend 😊. 10/10
