Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family. Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile. Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy. Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

HomeGrown HideAways is a farm, lodging, and event facility nestled in a hundred-acre holler in the Appalachian foothills near Berea, Ky. Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a bunkhouse, retro camper, water/electric hook-ups, and campsites. We also host weddings, retreats, and other events so advance reservations are required. For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse). All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH! Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap. The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge. For other activities, restaurants, shopping, music, and more, we're happy to share our favorites, but highly recommend checking out the Berea Tourism website.

We loved our trip here! It was private, peaceful, beautiful.. the perfect chance to unwind. The property was well taken care of, our kids loved it, me and my husband had a wonderful time just sitting on the porch at the end of night.. you won't regret staying here! If you have very little ones, a baby gate for the steep stairs and a pac n play or pop up pen for the porch would be ideal. But all in all, a perfect family trip

I loved staying at the lake house. It absolutely exceeded our expectations. The cabin was clean and cozy. We enjoyed fishing all day, exploring the woods, and grilling dinner right on the deck! I was sad to leave. We will definitely be back.

Peaceful slice of heaven in the bluegrass! Bridgett is very welcoming. Once you are checked in, you will feel like you are in your own world. It’s so relaxing and tranquil being right on the water. The wrap around porch gives the perfect place to sit and enjoy sunrises and sunsets! Perfect place for a couple or family to get away and make memories. Happy to be a return customer. Looking forward to another future visit to the Hurrican.

Weekend Trip to The Harrican Lakehouse

We spent a women’s weekend at this lovely lake home in January, and it was such a restorative experience—even with the rain! The house is beautiful, with a thoughtful and welcoming use of space that made it easy for all of us to spread out. Brittney truly has the art of hospitality, and it shows in every detail of the home. Although it rained most of the weekend, we still spent time outdoors under the porch, mesmerized by the raindrops falling on the lake—a simple but magical experience. The beds were comfortable, making for cozy nights in. A few suggestions for future guests: bring paper towels, dish soap, a pillow and snuggle blanket for winter, a sponge for the sink, extra toilet paper (especially for three women!), and an open mind for time away. Two of our three phones worked but not consistently, so plan accordingly. Overall, this is a serene and welcoming home perfect for a getaway with friends. We will be back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bridgett’s Harrican Lakehouse! The property is exactly as described and the photos are completely accurate. Our family stayed from late December to early January and the cooler weather didn’t stop us from enjoying kayaking, canoeing, hiking, relaxing on the porch, and so much more. We can’t wait to return when the weather is warmer, so we can add swimming and fishing to our list of activities :-) Bridgett was incredibly kind and communicated regularly before and throughout our stay. I HIGHLY recommend The Harrican Lakehouse and we will definitely be coming back!

Wow where to start. The farm is beautiful. So much land to hike and enjoy nature. The hosts were so kind and helpful with everything. The bunkhouse was great - with good sleeping bags and some blankets it works great in winter. The farmhouse/kitchen was incredible. So cozy and everything you could need to cook great meals and feel at home. Honestly could not recommend this place more. Affordable, beautifully designed, warm, and so many thoughtful details like yummy coffee and tea. They have so many options to stay- great place for everybody!

Weekend Trip to The Harrican Lakehouse

We loved our stay at the Harrican Lakehouse. It’s peaceful, clean, and tucked right between the trees and the water — exactly the kind of quiet reset we were hoping for. My husband tried his hand at fishing off the dock, our dog explored freely, and I soaked up the stillness with some cross‑stitching and a soundtrack of 70s Love Songs drifting through the day. Campfires, good food, and even a few rounds of cards made it the perfect weekend getaway. Notes for Future Visitors A few practical things that might help you plan: • The coffee maker is a small one (about 5 cups), so bring a larger one if you need more. • The indoor stairs are very steep. Our dog could go up with help but needed to be carried/assisted coming down — something to keep in mind if you’re bringing a bigger four‑legged companion. • There isn’t a traditional grill, but there is a Blackstone. The auto igniter wasn’t working, and there were no matches or a lighter in the cabin. We messaged Bridgett, and she immediately offered to have her husband come light it or to lend us a small charcoal grill. We borrowed the charcoal grill and cooked our steaks with no problem — great hospitality. Overall, this lakeshore spot is a 10/10 for anyone wanting a calm, cozy escape surrounded by nature.

I loved the lake house! Waking up and watching the ducks on the lake while we prepared breakfast was a delight. We watched newts (we think?) play in the water during the day and walked in the woods. By night, we enjoyed the fire pit and had cozy times in the house playing board games and cuddling with our dogs. This was truly a dream location and can’t wait to come back.

Very unique camping experience with all the anemities you need. It's cozy, fun, and had a great morning sunrise view. Waking up each morning to the sun popping up between the trees was awesome. The outdoor area and patio over looking the small pond is relaxing as well. And close to Big South Fork, which was a gorgeous hike was a bonus as well.

This cabin won me over the moment I walked in. It was warm, cozy, and the loft was surprisingly spacious. The porch is the real showstopper, and even though it was too cold to sit out for long, the views from every window were gorgeous. It even started snowing while we were there, which added this wild, magical atmosphere to the whole stay. The only downsides were the not-so-comfy seating, the heat being a little too powerful overnight, and the outhouse being a long chilly walk with a very rustic setup. None of it ruined the experience, but it is worth knowing before you go. Leslie loved the lake and all the open space to explore. I even had to hop in a kayak to fetch her ball when she refused to wade into the cold water, which felt like peak dog mom adventure energy. Slippers were clutch since the floors get cold and they were perfect for padding out onto the porch. The best moment was watching the sunrise roll in over the misty lake. Quiet, spooky, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. I would stay again without hesitation.

My parents, myself and two dogs had an awesome weekend at the Harrican Lakehouse. It was super quiet, restful and exactly as marketed. It was chilly at night and we all stayed super cozy in the house and by the fire. The only thing I would recommend to future guests is to bring your own pillow and coffee pot if you and your guests drink multiple cups. The one provided is just a little small.

I stayed at this lake house on a road trip around Kentucky while visiting from Oregon. The location is very remote and private and the hosts were great! I even ended up adopting a puppy from them lol The lake is gorgeous especially at sunrise and sunset. There’s chairs on the wrap around deck, multiple kayaks, a fire pit (bring wood), and a dock. The lake house provides you with hand soap, towels, bedding. The kitchen has utensils/plates/bowls/pots/pans, a radio, a fridge/freezer, stove/oven, and sink. Bring your own dish soap and paper towels if needed. We spent the day fishing on the lake and doing a puzzle inside. I’d bring extra blankets if you are visiting in the fall as it gets chilly. Overall, a wonderful stay and I’d definitely visit again if I’m back in Kentucky!

Nice little place on a pond. Morning coffee with the sunrise on the porch. Evening sunset with the campfire. Woods for hiking and fields for walking. My dogs have decided that they love fishing and require a pond at our house now. The place looks well cared for and the host was friendly and quick to reply to any questions. I would definitely book again/recommend this place.

We loved our stay on Matthew’s land. The barndominium was so cute and had everything we needed for our weekend away. We were there for an event in the area so didn’t get to take advantage of the canoe, fishing poles or the patio space and grill.

It is not first come first serve because if you can book them on the website, it doesn't mean that they're first come first serve.So therefore, when you go to get a site, you will have a hard time.Because people online will have already booked them even though they're showing available.I do not recommend this place unless you book online

Koomer Ridge Campground

Do yourself a favor and go camp just north of here in the Red River Gorge. Go to the visitors center and you can get a parking pass so you can park within the Gorge overnight, and then you can camp off any trail. There are tons of official trails, and even more unmarked trails that are some of the coolest hikes and scenery you can imagine.
