Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm

I loved staying at the Cedar Sanctuary site! This place is absolutely magical, I will be back!

Kelli and her husband were incredible. After meeting both for mere minutes I felt like i had been a friend for years. Then friend and family camp is huge beyond belief. The other sites I saw were all very private and more than spacious. They are all in the steep hills of Kentucky though and when they say they recommend four wheel drive, believe them, but you can still enjoy their camps. They were more than happy to haul my gear to camp in their side-by-side when my motorcycle couldn’t make it so don’t let that scare you. This place is worth the adventure!

We tent camped on this beautiful creekside, viking-themed respite and were quite comfortable even within rain and heat. There are plenty of trees for shade and dipping our feet in the creek to cool off was a delight. David, our host, was warm, welcoming, gracious and friendly. We stayed there while visiting Serpent Mound which is very close-by. We cannot wait to return. We truly felt so refreshed. There's something magical about hearing that creek at night.

What a beautiful farm to camp at! My 8 year old daughter and I had such a lovely time in the A Frame exploring the wildlife trails, hanging out with the koi fish, the chickens and Aimee! Everything is so well thought out and obviously a lot of care has gone into this property, it’s absolutely magical, we can’t wait to return!

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a magical place to reconnect with nature but still sleep in a bed. The creekside cabin was very clean and cozy! David and Ivea were incredibly kind and accommodating. The place is clean, artistically beautiful, and honestly just felt magical.

This site is so nice. It's the perfect spot to unwind and relax with your spouse or chill with your family. We were lucky enough to be there on the 4th of July (also my birthday) Aaron was so nice and invited us to his get together and fireworks. We had such a good time, and got to meet some of his family too. They were just as sweet and welcoming as Aaron, the all even made it a point to come tell me happy birthday too. His daughter and her husband were my favorite part of the weekend! She is so sweet and her husband is the same. We didn't really go exploring, as we just wanted a relaxing weekend, not exploring weekend. We did however venture to the little gas station down the road, they have really good food! We really just hung around and did whatever. It was so nice. The cabin is really nice, the host really has thought of everything in there. The bathroom is even outside, which really gave it an added touch of charm. He has completely stocked that place, he has everything a lady would need. The site itself was so beautiful, especially at night. It's really the perfect amount of off grid camping to disconnect, but enough convenience to create an amazing camp site. We will be back for sure!!

Fantastic asthetics. Beautifully done and maintained. Hosts were very hospitable and knowledgable of the area. The yurt was very comfy and inviting. First time in a yurt and it was a blast. Hosts went above and beyond by providing a battery unit for my CPAP machine.

The property was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful sunsets. Rolling green fields. You will probably be visited by some cattle as they wander and graze, along with an adorable herd of little goats. The drive way is long, winding and hilly but worth it to get back at the edge of the open fields. The hosts were very sweet and accommodating. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound. Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1). ***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. Possum Ridge Ranch

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $15 per bundle and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is located at the tent sites), you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.

The Viking Longhall

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen. The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also. The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities. The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles. Come out and share the land that we have loved for the last 30 years PLEASE NOTE….WE WILL NO LONGER BE SUPPLYING BEDDING OR TOWELS.

Learn more about this land: Come relax atop the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio. Enveloped in the heart of Tranquility Wilderness Area, our 11 acres has a mix of native pawpaw, peach, pear, and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, a small swimming pond, and a large, accessible field for ample flat for tents and room to play. Trails through the woods are being worked on, and facilities expanded as the seasons pass. Mellow nature’s soundtrack of birds, crickets, and frogs and enjoy an incredibly clear view of the night sky. Hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, hunting, swimming, and more are available at several state parks and historical sites like within 10-30 minutes of the farm. Amish country is likewise near at hand with several bakeries, markets, furniture shops, and greenhouses. Our primitive sites are spaced for privacy, with a gravel parking area near the cottage and additional field parking is available near the road on the opposite site of the main house. While most sites are walk-in only, the upper field sites may be able to be parked near and the Lower Meadow, Boneyard, and Oak Grove may be able to be driven to, as weather and site conditions permit.

Hideaway Hills Primitive Camp

**ALL SITES ARE ACCESSIBLE BY 4WD OR MODERATE UPHILL HIKE ONLY** Located in Boyd County, Ky (less than two miles from US 23), our 50 acres are on a one-lane, dead end road which makes for a peaceful, quiet night’s sleep under the stars and amongst the trees. Our sites are completely primitive (no running water, no electricity, no sewer) hike-in or 4WD accessible only, in several locations on the hills behind our residence. Potable water (2.6 gallons in a jug with spout) and portable toilet in privacy tent provided. (Privacy tent can also double as a shower if you have a portable shower system) All sites are ideal for tent campers, overlanding-style rigs, or possibly a small, off- road trailer/camper, with fire ring and firewood provided at each site. You will have access to all trails (for hiking only) and shared access to the fishing pond (Catch and Release only at this time). There are plenty of trees for shade, hammocks, etc. There is also an abundance of wildlife: Birds, deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, bobcats, coyotes, and even an occasional black bear. Large firepit at pond for socializing, if desired (Quiet time from 10pm to 8am as a courtesy to other campers). We are pet friendly as well as off-leash friendly (on leash on trails or pond area if not friendly). *We do have two off-leash dogs on our property as well* Whether you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a few days or just looking for a safe, quiet place to spend the night on your way to your next destination, we hope you'll choose to spend it with us at Hideaway Hills!

The Campground is just a 8 min drive from downtown Jackson, where you can stop in and sample some of their locally famous places! If your feeling pizza, then you have to try Cardo's or, LaRosa's Pizza, If you want some good local BBQ, hop on over to Rowdy's Smokehouse. If you want to try a Western themed Roadhouse, there's Dakota's, or you can relax by listening to some live music while you eat over at Stockroom 601.
