Heritage Farms, located in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, is a 5th-generation, family-owned Christmas tree farm founded in 1848.
Camping began ten years ago. We offer six shelters and nine primitive tent sites. We are incredibly close to the various trails located across the Cuyahoga Valley.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm.
2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.
3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots
4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use.
5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property.
6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns.
7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers
8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours
9. Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re arriving after 7:00 p.m., please let us know. Checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Please use the dumpster for all trash. Gray water stations are available for the disposal of used water.
10. Only campers registered to HipCamp are permitted to overnight on Heritage Farms property. We do not allow parties and underage or excessive use of alcohol at any time.
11. DOG POLICY: We welcome dogs who have received prior permission from the farm owners. A dog registration form including proof of rabies vaccination must be filled out upon arrival. Unvaccinated dogs are not permitted on the property. All dogs MUST always be on a leash and in the physical control of their owner(s). No pets may be left unattended at any time.

Turkey Hollow is nestled in the rolling hills of Holmes County Ohio. We are right on the edge of the largest Amish settlement in the nation. The primitive campground is in the corner of a small 40 acre farm owned by Matt Polcyn. He started the campground 13 years ago because of his love for nature and real camping. He enjoys traveling in many places in the States and the Caribbean islands and loves finding places off of the beaten path and not commercialized. Because of his interest and love for primitive camping he decided to open the campground in order to provide the same opportunity as a getaway primitive camping location that he tries to find when he travels.
We now just added a shower in the trees, warm water rinse off area. (this is available between Memorial Day and until it get too cold again in the fall)

With over 230 acres, a lake, trails, the Grand River, plenty of wildlife, and FREE firewood. Bass and Buck Adventures is the perfect place to get away. Once known as Parkman Gorge the valley was a hub for water powered industry in the early 1800's. The river and valley is home to a wide array of wildlife. Deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, owls, mink, river otters to name a few. The area also attracts many song birds including a wide variety of warblers. There is also an abundance of wild flowers. The valley is rich in Native American history. Many artifacts have been found on the property. My great grandfather talked about the last Native American to live in Parkman. He had a cabin on one of the bluffs along the river. In the 1820's there was a water powered sawmill, flaxseed mill, and forge on the river. The boy scouts used the valley for a camp in the 1920,s. My grandpa purchased the property in the 50's from Ohio Edison. Ohio Edison's plan to dam up the river for hydro power never materialized. The valley has been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting. Many of the items used for the camp sites have been reclaimed. The fire rings are old tractor rims and scrap steel. The tent platform is from reclaimed deck lumber. The firewood is excess cutoffs purchased from a local sawmill.

Leftovers of an abandoned mine give Lake Hope State Park its rustic charm, where a nearly 3,000-acre lake provides ample opportunity for outdoor fun in the sun. Seven hiking paths and eight biking trails mean you'll have multiple chances to discover the steep gorges that characterize this densely forested area. Hunt in the adjacent Zaleski State Forest or catch some crappie or bluegill in the expansive lake for some fresher than fresh dinner. No houses in sight in the summer on my land and no houses in site at all, year round in camping locations. Bathroom is an outhouse. Water provided from around April 1st to November 1st “weather dependent “. After that will fill tanks or jugs at main house with non potable water. Potable water available from a natural spring on property. Very little noise from people. Gather fire wood for free from fallen trees, or I will provide firewood at a small fee. Mostly sound of nature. Surrounded by well over 100 acres of woods “ NOT part of the property”. About 1,800 ft off of very quiet low traffic Township rd. Only about 9 miles from the Mohican state park and forest with over 4,500 acres! Also plenty of things to do in Loudonville. Kayaks, canoe, inner tubing , swimming, fishing, hunting and much more all less than 10 miles away. Also 2A friendly location, provided all , federal, state and local laws are followed!

The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables.
The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner.
Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures).
Trash. This sustainable farm has no garbage hauling, please carry away your trash.

Summer brings on the bullfrogs, butterflies, dragonflies and fireflies. Fall is a great time to pull grapevine to make wreaths & to build stick forts in the woods.
We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper.
We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river).

Our peaceful 20 acres has a good mix of woods, wild meadows and maintained cleared areas as well as a small pond, all of which can be explored via our nature trail. Enjoy the sounds of nature and an incredible night sky.
FIREWOOD and seasonal farm goods are available for purchase at a self-serve stand (several payment options available). There is also a wonderful sauna on the property that can be reserved (go to sauna to reserve a time).
Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound.
Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).
***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.

Your Tipi Stay
Spend the night in our spacious 22-foot tipi, thoughtfully placed to immerse you in the sights and sounds of the ranch. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable queen platform bed provided for your convenience. Guests should bring their own sleeping bags, linens, pillows, and blankets.
The tipi comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests—two on the provided queen bed, with ample room for additional cots or air mattresses you bring. Cots are available to rent as an add-on. You’re also welcome to pitch additional tents or hang hammocks in the surrounding trees, allowing space for up to 10 guests total.
The Ranch Experience
Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch is a working ranch, home to plains bison, honeybees, chickens, and peafowl. We are proud to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat, Certified Firefly Habitat and Monarch Waystation.
Explore our scenic hiking trails that wind through rolling hills, wildflowers, and native grasses. Nature lovers will delight in the abundance of birds, butterflies, and wildlife throughout the property. After your hike, cool off in the clear, pristine creek bordering the ranch (water shoes recommended).

We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Lexi and Little Bits can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There are chickens and Brindle the barn kitty. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe. We allow kayaking in the pond when our dogs are inside. But fishing has been restricted due to unfortunate incidents.

Need some additional relaxation? Book a Reiki Healing at the Jug House next to the pond for an extra fee. Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes healing. Contact your host for availability before booking the extra.
We also have the option to book all our sites for a 15-person retreat, with special extras only available for that booking, including a pavilion teepee tent.
Portable toilets are available, pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted.
Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.
They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.
In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.
The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.
We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

We all survived our first solo mission!
I picked the hottest couple days this month to bring us camping. No sun burns. No ticks… no broken bones, avoided getting poison ivy this year🙌🏻
I recommend Fruitdale Farm in bainbridge for a really wonderful easy getaway.
The highlight of the trip was escaping the heat with our feet in the water getting our toes nibbled at the dock. The boys wanted a dip before we headed out… their favorite spot. we headed to the pond this morning with handmade soap from the farm. Going back this fall when it’s not the hottest day of the year. Thank you for creating this wonderful oasis. We’ve been singing your praises.
Also a bird visited me in the privy. That was a private moment I enjoyed without my kids☀️

We can’t say enough about our camp hosts, Jay and Heather. They were so welcoming and hospitable. They were very helpful to all our needs, and provided a wealth of information regarding the history of their property, and the surrounding area. If you'd like, they're more than happy to take you on a golf-cart tour of the property. Rusty the cow was adorable, and so were his two little sidekick’s the miniature horses.
We planned our camping trip around the Union Pacific's Big Boy locomotive, which was on display in Fostoria for the day. Unfortunately, we succumbed to the great crowds, poor planning, and early closure of the train display—like thousands of other rail fans—and were turned away without seeing it... after waiting three hours in traffic!
Jay, our host—who did get in to see Big Boy—felt sorry for us, and gave us his souvenir train-whistle and some post cards from the event, to lift our spirits. The next morning, Jay endeavored to let us know which crossings the train would be heading out on. Thanks to him, we were finally able to see the train!
To sum it up, Jay and Heather are a reflection of the kind, outgoing and thoughtful, people you'll meet in-and-around Fostoria—and we met many.
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay and plan to return. Thanks Jay & Heather!

We had a great time here. We wanted to be close to Mohican without staying at one of the crowded campgrounds. This was peaceful and quiet. Rick was super helpful and kind, we appreciated him as a host. We did okay making it down the drive with two Honda Civics but definitely better suited for an suv/truck. There could be some improvements for it to be more campsite like but it suited our needs for the weekend. Would absolutely come back again for tent camping near mohican.

Altenbrauch farm was mostly a dream spot. I happened to be the only one there and it was private, and quiet-- save for a few vehicles on the gravel road from time to time and their mowing. I had a shaded spot next to a shallow water course which was excellent given the heat.

We loved the shade on a hot week. If you're used to camping without your normal amenities (electric, running water, etc) this is an amazing place to camp. The staff were nice and the area had lots to do. P.S. the showers at Pilot are $17, are clean, and they give a towel/soap with the shower.

We had a great weekend on Rick’s property. We stayed at the Forge Hill campsite which was large and well cared for. Our young teenagers loved playing in the pond, boating, and fishing. As birders we loved listening to all the different songbirds throughout the day. We’d love to return again for another camping trip in the future!

We had a wonderful time here. It was spacious and clean and peaceful. The directions from Google were accurate. Limited cell service on T-Mobile. The field was mowed and well cared for.
Bugs were moderate at night but we didn't notice any major issues with biting flies or mosquitoes. It was mostly just moths and gnats and the kinds that buzz around your head.
We were a little surprised/disappointed that there was not a dumpster or other waste disposal option available on site. We had to travel a fairly long distance with garbage bags on the car to "pack it out". Our particular campsite had lots of broken glass and aluminum cans in the fire pit that we had to cleanup and haul out.

Weekend Trip to Camping at Heritage Farms
We loved tent camping at Heritage Farms! We chose site J because it was the furthest out and it was perfect! We were just far enough away where we weren't too close to anyone else, but not too far away from our car and the bathrooms. The bathrooms are just a couple porta-potties, but they were so clean and well maintained. We didn't know ahead of time that there was a flea market on Saturday, but it was a lovely surprise! We spent the morning browsing the different stalls and brought home some locally made goods. We didn't interact with the farm staff very much, but the few people we talked to were super friendly and helpful! This was our first tent camping experience so we chose Heritage Farms because it's only 15 minutes from home for us and it was perfect! We really enjoyed our weekend!

I enjoy camping on Jay’s land. He offers you choice of site amongst 13 acres as well as use of a large covered deck, very clean private bath with a hot shower, microwave, and small fridge. The area is quiet and private and not far from interstate or town. I would stay again.

Great place to camp with the whole family. Only stayed 1 night and didn't have time to explore the property but I understand there is plenty of it. Site have a bit of privacy and are easily accessible. The free firewood is an added bonus. Rick is an excellent host.
