Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven. There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided) Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay. We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away! Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat! Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more. It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

It is tucked in between the Hudson River (8 miles to the East) and the Catskill Mountains (10 miles to the west). It is just 6 miles from the Village of Saugerties and 14 miles to Woodstock, NY. The piece available for camping is 10 acres, but the entire Garden is comprised of 98 acres of rolling land (most of it in a forestry protection plan) bordered on the west by acres of marshland. Many trails criss-cross the Garden and lead one to pretty or interesting vistas including a large mountain laurel patch, ancient graveyard, and different stands of mixed wood forests. The Little Witch Cottage is a rustic charming cottage from 1929 with timber framing and Catskill blue stone flooring. It sits in the middle of our yard about 200 feet from our more modern home. We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette. The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, toaster oven, french press for coffee and an induction stove top. There is basic cooking supplies such as pots and pans. We wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower. For July 4th weekend, and Labor Day weekend drive-up sites are a 2 night minimum. In the off season starting after Thanksgiving through April, there is no water or toilet or shower facilities available. Our 75 acres is a wonderful, diverse mix of habitat, harmoniously integrated with our small farm. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool. The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time. Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land. Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site. There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing, Very rural and private, even though we are only 25 miles SW of Albany, NY the capital of NYS, here it is quiet and peaceful. We do have 3 very friendly dogs that will want to be your best friends. Also farm animals that you can meet. There will be farm noises, roosters greeting the morning and various grunts and snorts... far less noise than any modern city. Albany, along with the surrounding areas, have many events etc going on. There's hiking, biking, nature parks, horse racing, concerts, festivals and events and so much more. Weekend Trip to Bearkill Brook Campsite

Our family had an amazing stay at Bearkill. The site completely exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a quiet, private campsite to enjoy with our young kids and this spot was perfect. There is tons of open space to spread out tents with complete privacy, along with a super cozy cabin. The other amenities like a grill and a shower with hot water really made camping with kids more enjoyable. The kids really enjoyed the creek and toys Peggy and David provided. Really great site, really great hosts.

Weekend Trip to Otters and Eagles Cabin

Our mother/daughter; aunt/niece weekend at Otters and Eagles Cabin was a top-tier glamping experience. We liked everything about our stay. As someone who loves to camp and cook, I was thrilled to find that the thoughtful host provided plenty of kitchen items, making it so easy to prepare meals for our group. The cabin itself is nestled right in the beautiful woods with nature all around. We spent our mornings drinking coffee and our evenings sipping wine down by the gorgeous pond. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the toilet facilities were well-maintained. I had only to ask if we needed anything, like an additional propane canister for cooking, and Mark would run it down the hill himself! This level of care and comfort made the whole experience smooth, accessible, and relaxing, which was especially appreciated by my 79-year-old mom. Between relaxing by the pond, nature walks, birdwatching, gathering around the amazing outdoor stone fireplace, and having the extra option for platform tenting, the setup was flawless. There was a slope down from parking, but a cart is provided to help move your gear. I have absolutely no criticisms of this property. We would go back anytime!

Weekend Trip to The Little Witch Cottage

We absolutely adored our stay at the Little Witch Cottage and honestly wish we could have stayed longer! It was the perfect way to kick off our vacation in New York. The cottage was cozy, thoughtfully put together, and had such a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Caitlin was an amazing host super responsive, incredibly kind, and she shared some fantastic local recommendations that made our trip even better. Her property is beautiful and so quiet, making it the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Everything was exactly as we had hoped, if not better. We can’t recommend this little gem enough and would absolutely love to come back!

Weekend Trip to Bearkill Brook Campsite

We typically would not spend this much to camp but, since we (2adults & 2 dogs) only had 2 nights, we really did not want to bring all of our camping gear. Well, I must say it was worth every dollar and we really wish we had more time to stay and play. We may have been a bit spoiled with all of the amenities, not to mention, the space and all of the fun outdoor games provided. Our 2 dogs had as much fun as we did… maybe more. It was like we had our own private campground with facilities ALL TO OURSELVES. The mix of sun (big open field) and shade was perfect. The creek along the camp was fun and fantastic for hiking and frolicking. Star gazing was amazing in the big field with a masterfully made fire pit. We applaud David’s craftsmanship on the cabin, as well as the bathhouse and other structures. This is definitely the perfect spot for first time campers, especially with kids and pets. Peggy and David were outstanding hosts and we were quite grateful they were just up the road, as we needed a jump start upon our departure. We certainly hope to be back for an extended stay with more people. Thanks for everything Peggy & David!

The host was very nice and helpful, cabin was clean, sheets were clean, bed very comfortable, big fire pit and plenty of firewood. The only downside was the porta potty, just did not match everything else, it was full of flies and felt uncomfortable.

2 nights at Sunflower Retreat

Stacey is absolutely lovely. Her gardens are amazing, her chickens are so well cared for, and the cabin — absolute relaxation and tranquility. It was exactly what we needed. It rained one day and I haven’t experienced such peacefulness in a long time. Listening to the rain fall through the trees, it was a tiny bit of paradise.

The site had beautiful touches that made us feel cared for: lanterns, books, fresh flowers, fire supplies, and a well stocked outhouse. The property is truly beautiful, and we saw fireflies, deer, a frog, and the neighbors riding around on horses. Great area.

The Little Witch Cottage was absolute perfection in a stay. The bed was so comfortable, the place was clean, and there were little details everywhere that showed the care Caitlin put into the guest experience. A couple appreciated details: -The wood for the fireplace was well dried and stacked, with a bundle of kindling pre-separated. It made fire starting so easy. - The shower, outhouse and composting toilet were set up to be private, comfortable and clean, with extras you may need right at hand. - The kitchen had items for whatever kind of morning ritual you enjoy. -Art materials were provided in case you felt inspired to sketch and draw. Caitlin was courteous, friendly and accommodating without being overbearing. Directions were easy and the recommendations about the surrounding area were appreciated. I would love to visit again someday and I highly recommend this stay!

Weekend Trip to Moon In The Pond Farm

We loved our stay at Moon in the Pond Farm. We had our first camping trip with our 8mo and were so pleased with the place. We booked the cabin which offered electricity which we found helpful so we could use a fan in the heat, and have her monitor plugged in while we enjoyed the campfire nearby. Dom had great local recommendations for hiking and watering holes and it was so nice to have farm fresh food, firewood on site and to be able to explore the property and see the farm animals. Our friends were able to book the tent sites on the property and we all communed at our site for meals and a fire. We all said it was a place we would go back to!

Weekend Trip to The Little Witch Cottage

I thought it was very appropriate to celebrate my 40th in a witch’s cottage and my instinct was spot on. This place was exactly what I had envisioned for the weekend. The property is very special, it was a perfect place to sip on a slow contemplative cup of tea while admiring the surrounding garden and woods and taking in all the sounds of nature. Caitlin and Andre are excellent hosts, they were very friendly and accessible. Andre gave my friend’s toddler a full tour of the gardens. He was delighted by the truck and sampling strawberries. It was perfect, we hope to return to witch cottage soon. Thanks so much for hosting us!

Copake Falls Campground

Stayed at Copake Falls for 4th of July Weekend. Had a great time! Beautiful campground and only a short hike to Bash Bish Falls. Campground has several sites that are close together which are a perfect option for traveling groups. There are also a number more spread out sites which offer a good amount of privacy. Campground also offers an awesome swimming area in an old quarry if you're looking to cool off.
