Salamander Hollow is a private, evolving honeybee and human being
sanctuary on 17 acres of land abutting Massachusetts State Forest. We
currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags.
'Forest Bathing' for miles!
If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors.
Note that Kula Bata Tiny Cabin abuts the wheelchair accessible larger bathroom/shower which is available to those at the Salamander Hollow main camp, yet you are secluded with your own private entry points and private bathroom.
A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain. There is a grill, wood fired pizza oven, two fire pits and a hygienic Incinolet electric toilet on the property for night convenience, with small camp sinks for washing & teeth brushing.
Take a short hike off the property to organic Chase Hill Farm for milk, eggs, seasonal veggies, grass fed meat and other goodies. Say hello to their cows, chickens, pigs, goats, pups and kids. Nestled across the road from Salamander Hollow is Timber Haven Farm, where you can schedule your pickup of bacon and eggs, while loading up on delicious Owl Energy Bars for your adventurous excursions. For those interested in the glamping side of camping, you will enjoy a remote rustic experience with a few creature comforts to keep you well read, clean and fed. Please bring your own bedding - pillows, sleeping bags, comforter, teddy bears.There is a wall mounted blue tooth car radio/CD player in Sleeping Library, so bring your pre-digital favorites. Classical CDs to listen to. Lots of eclectic books to peruse.Walkie talkies, a set of 4, are available upon request. Chess & poker sets, too.

Bring fire-starters/newspaper for tinder. We suggest if you are staying more than a night or two in winter, you bring supplemental wood or we can direct you to a nearby stand. Next season, our own cut and split wood will be seasoned and available on site. We ask that you carry out trash and recyclables.
An established Western facing four point sacred Medicine Wheel site being established on Askari Ridge - our name for the slope starting with the two fire pits - 'Askari' being Swahili for night guard.
Here is where we envision a great touch-point area for those leading groups to be for a base-camp by day or night, where eventually a multi-use tenting platform/performance stage will be constructed for outdoor entertainment, creating an authentic 'stadium style' seating on the hill.
You will see on your way up to Salamander Hollow main clearing - the Kula Bata Tiny Kabin on the left of the dirt road- now available to rent with its small guest room for two, infrared sauna, hot shower, kitchenette, dishwasher and laundry.

The cabin itself is a short walk from our house along path ... down a line of maples and under a garden arch. Listen to the gentle brook and barred owls while nestled into the woods of Ashfield, MA on a small herbal homestead. The forest hut is a screened in platform that is lovely for camping on a warm summer's night. It has large windows and screens to keep out the bugs while enjoying a cool mountain breeze. There is a newly built composting toilet on site and small fire pit. This is not a cabin, no electricity, running water or plumbing. It is not well suited for winter camping unless you’re well equipped.

Please note, that we ask that guests do not enter the barn or fenced pasture without one of the farm owners (Molly & Diego). Our animals are accustomed to people, but livestock is unpredictable, especially to people that they do not know. There is plenty of area outside of the pasture that guests can enjoy. Weekend Trip to The Cabin
Beautiful property with nice views. Cabin was comfortable and clean, as was the outhouse. Rainwater for washing was an added bonus. Julie the host could not have been nicer and accommodating. She knew it was going to be colder the night we stayed and left an extra blanket, which made all the difference. Also gave us lots of recommendations for eating spots. There is a great deal of wildlife, we heard owls and coyotes at night, but nothing bothered us. Would stay again.

Weekend Trip to Wapack Trail Cabin
We had a great stay, the cabin is historical and comfortable. Jon gave us a brief tour and some lore about the land; the cabin is located a little ways past his home on a dirt road which was once a major route. He provided a metal detector that we used to uncover an old bucket and some nails along the road. Lots of old metal to be found which we did not know we would enjoy so much. Thanks again Jon! 🤘🤘

My partner and I spent two nights in the cabin and had such a great time! We went to a concert at Treehouse, visited Mass MOCA, and did a guided white water rafting trip at Zoar Outdoor. 2 nights at Wapack Trail Cabin
Fantastic getaway spot! A private, peaceful, and perfect place to unplug for a few days. The location was beautiful with great hiking trails nearby! The host, Jon, was very welcoming and incredibly responsive to questions. There is great cell service here (Verizon), a fire pit with chairs, camp stove, king sized bed, a speaker !!, pots, pans & utensils. Many games and books to play/read. Lots of outdoor equipment! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway! I will absolutely be coming back!!

Enjoyed a peaceful stay at Wapack Trail Cabin. The cabin was clean and had everything I needed. I took a weekend getaway with my two dogs - needed to get away from the day to day AND this place was perfect. Jon was very nice and friendly, explained the amenities, the trails, weekend local activities and gave me fresh eggs from his chickens. My visit was mid-July and the temps were very comfortable, I wasn’t swarmed by bugs, most of the cabin windows have screens and the cabin has a portable fan for additional comfort. I’m just an hour away and look forward to more visits.

The Inn on the Horse Farm is a wonderful place to stay. Feels secluded and the rooms are beautiful. The hosts are great, a nice walk around the property. Would be aware of ticks though. Would go back

This is a cute little cabin, and was better than anticipated! Lots of pots and pans, dishes etc. The porch tent was so comfortable and relaxing. If you want an off the grid experience this is a perfect opportunity.

Julie and her family were incredible hosts! They were so welcoming and inviting and gave us a some great info on the area. The space is even better than pictured and was so peaceful and cozy. It was a perfect place to come back to after a busy day running all over the place.

Weekend Trip to Winimisset Brook Farm Retreat
our second time visiting the cabin was as magical as the last. The weather was beautiful the breeze was just right and mistys hospitality was unmatched and communication was a breeze.
The only downside in the summer is the bugs which as you can expect in the summer can get brutal when the sun goes down and the breeze is no longer blowing. perfect time to visit here is spring or fall or even winter when you can cozy up to the fire and not worry so much about the bugs. we love this cabin and look forward to it being part of a new tradition for our family of 3

Wells is a great place to see wildlife and find peace and quiet
The pond is as seen and rarely swimmable
But attracts alot of wildlife. So it depends on why you camp....wanna swim?,....not here,....hike?,..... no doubt you will love it,....and quiet!
