Weekend Trip to The Little Witch Cottage

I cannot recommend Caitlin’s incredibly cottage enough. My girlfriend (now fiancé) stayed here after our engagement and I couldn’t have asked for a better place. Gorgeous, romantic and so incredibly peaceful, the cottage is impeccably decorated and so so cozy. There is a beautiful fireplace that keeps the whole cottage warm, and the record player was a really nice touch too. The shower and outhouse were clean and well maintained. I’d recommend this spot to anyone. 10/10

Weekend Trip to The Little Witch Cottage

Had an absolutely incredible time at this property. Caitlin Rose was a fantastic host and made sure my girlfriend and I had all we needed during our stay. Outdoor shower was toasty and cottage is as cozy as can be, especially with a nice fire. The chimney draws nicely but good to have kindling and fire starters to make sure you’re set up for success. Would love to return.

Loved it! The small trek to waterfalls was a little challenging while it was raining but totally worth it. The cabin seemed to be quite new as well. Some other reviews mentioned they could hear vehicles passing by the Fulton road. I did not hear a thing during my stay and the campfire setup was also nice. Would totally visit again!

I loved staying at Sarah’s cabin. It was really peaceful and cozy. I brought my 9 week old Pomeranian puppy Rosie. She had a great time romping in their fenced in yard. The location is very convenient to local stores and restaurants. I highly recommend Sarah’s cabin.

4 nights at Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

This was our second time camping here, and it was again wonderful. Jo was incredibly accomodating as we navigated getting out of the city, and the a-frame is so cozy! We also loved the (brand new) outdoor showers. On the rainy day we checked out nearby restaurants and Berkshire towns - especially recommend Great Barrington. We'll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Queen's Cabin

My boyfriend, our two dogs, and I had a wonderful weekend at Queen’s Cabin! The property and cabin are lovely, private, comfortable, clean, and we would definitely return. The location was easy to find, but definitely off the beaten path. The cabin was stocked with plenty of firewood, propane, blankets, and essentials like olive oil, salt, and foil. Unfortunately, there was only one skillet and one sharp knife, which made cooking a little difficult, but we managed. I saw in another review that there is a Nespresso machine, so I brought pods but I got the wrong ones. If you plan to utilize it, be sure to get the VERTUO ones. There was coffee provided though, which was very nice. The property is set up very well for dogs with plenty of dog beds, food bowls, and shaded space with a yard, trees and big rocks for them to run and play. We also found the perfect hammock trees to tie two hammocks to side-by-side. The wood stove was easy to use and there were detailed instructions. We woke up to rain on our first morning, so it was great to build a fire. The propane grill was large and great for making dinner. The igniter worked just fine, so we didn’t have to light it with a match. The cabin is quiet and the sounds of the birds are enchanting. It was nice to get away from the sound of traffic for a few days. All the products in the house are eco-friendly. It’s evident the owners really care about the cabin and that good energy came through in our experience. Thank you!!

4 nights at Brook Hollow Homestead

We had a wonderful time at Todd’s beautiful property. We stayed at his RV site overlooking the pond in our 5th wheel. It was quiet and very peaceful. Hubby did some fishing but no catching! Todd was very nice and informative. He met us at front of the property and showed us where to go, when we pulled in. He was always available if we had any questions. We didn’t have a chance to hike his 100+acres, but hopefully next time. The well water was some of the best water we’ve ever had—crisp, cold and refreshing. Overall, it was a wonderful, relaxing time spent in the Eastern Catskill's.

Joanna’s sites are beautifully and thoughtfully laid out. The airstream was comfortable and fun to sleep in. Joanna was communicative and helpful. We saw turtles in the pond, a barred owl, lotsa birds and deer walked by too.

lovely stay- the cabin was warm & cozy. they really thought of every little thing to make the stay as comfortable as possible. you do have to park up the hill & carry your things down but it’s not a huge or long walk. the showers are camp bag showers, I do recommend bringing your own if you have one & some straps to hang it. the waterfall is stunning & ther is a lot of good day hikes around.

This was my second trip to Uppershire. It’s a wonderful piece of property with amazing hosts Barb and Joanna. Each site is curated carefully and the amenities keep being added. Last year a hot outdoor shower and this year a new log cabin for a glamping experience. Although I am a squaredrop camper (think queen bed on wheels) I really appreciate the serene land coupled with the amazing hosts, and cute town ta boot.

2 nights at Palsgraf estates

Great spot nestled in the Catskills back country... the property and accommodations are ace, but the real treat is the king of the castle, the host with the most, Mr. P... he made sure everything was safe and everyone was warm and happy. Kids had a blast hiking around the woods and it was just really nice to be with and connected to nature. Couldn't have asked for more... especially on such short notice. Thanks again for everything, will be back for sure... Til then, keep on keepin' on...

4 nights at Queen's Cabin

We had a terrific time at Sara's Cabin. The cabin is clean and uncluttered with high ceilings, a huge kitchen, amazing windows and views, is in a very quiet area, and is within 45 minutes of everything we wanted to do. The fire pit was gorgeous, and the wood stove worked well (instructions on how to use it were very helpful). My spouse, teenager, our two small dogs, and I were there together--which was admittedly a little tight. It's best for two people but we made it work and it was super fun. The set up for dogs is perfection; large secure fenced-in yard, a big fenced-in porch, and dog beds and bowls are provided. Great spot, great place. We will be back for sure!

The woodfire stove in the yurt was to die for - the skylight view was amazing, especially during a bout of snow. The land was quiet, beautiful, and close enough to drive to anything you needed quickly. The sounds of nature existing around you pour through the yurt, run through it like water through a stream, pulling you closer to it and dissolving the separation of yourself from it. While easy to use your phone, perhaps consider a time to put it down and be with yourself, your loved one(s), and to step back from the onslaught of technology and back to a time of just existing - of talking truly, of writing, of reading, of pondering, of meditating, of experiencing the world the way it was meant to be - with your true senses, not with distractions of the modern world, or the onslaught of awful happenings in the world.

This very private property features a babbling brook, wide open fields to play lawn games, horse shoes, volleyball, corn hole, kickball, and ladder ball . A twenty-five minute drive to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts (sight of the 1969 Woodstock Festival). OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE: Please respect our non-smoking policy. There is absolutely NO smoking of any kind allowed in the cabin. A $200 charge will be applied if you do smoke inside to cover the additional cleaning costs. No Drugs or illegal activity. No Smoking or vaping. No incense or candles. We always like our guests to know ahead of time that there is mild to moderate vehicle and foot traffic near the hiking trails during the day. As this location has become more and more popular, the individuals who come to hike, bike, fish, hunt, etc. are required to parallel park their cars on the opposite side of the road. Nature is calling you but you'd rather sleep with the comfort of solid surroundings and air conditioning or heating. We get it! THIS is for you! So book your stay today....you will not regret it! When the temperatures drop, usually in November, we must turn off the water hose in order to preserve the hose and keep it from freezing. We provide water in 5 Gallon jugs for cleaning dishes and for personal hygiene. Please note, sometimes it gets so cold that the water freezes! During those times, we suggest bringing in water that you will use on a daily basis. You must bring in your own drinking water! We will provide you with a supply of paper plates, cups and plastic utensils! Water is typically turned back on in April. Winter camping adventure awaits! Staying at The Wasburn Cabin in winter months has proven to be an absolutely magical experience for hundreds of our guests. However, it does require a little extra planning and an understanding of winter in the Hudson Valley. Between November and April, the weather can have its extremes and does not allow for running water as the pipes will freeze and crack. Unfortunately, even leaving bottled water often just ends up being blocks of ice and not useable for our guests. We simply ask guests to bring in water during their stay to ensure a safe useable water source. We also ask guests to bring proper clothes. The insulated cabin does reach comfortable temperatures, however, extreme cold snaps can make it necessary to bundle up and cuddle with your main squeeze. If you are open to a little adventure and a little planning, come and enjoy our little oasis! If you are looking for high end amenities with hot showers and instant heat on demand, this is probably not for you and we suggest trying our outdoor experiences in warmer months. While we are located in a neighborhood, cell phone service can be spotty. We personally have not had any issues. We hope that once you arrive at the cabin, you’ll settle in and realize that disconnecting will help you reconnect to yourself! We offer limited wifi. Meaning, the signal may not be super strong but can help in getting you online to search the internet but may not be strong enough to stream. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. Sacred Waterfall & Quiet Retreat

NOTE: THIS IS A QUIET AREA for reconnecting with nature. Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty and power. It is considered a sacred site that has been central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka, also known as the Mohawks, the original inhabitants of the Schoharie Valley. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, Kahonrakén:ra Waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into a hidden pool, which then empties again into the river, running into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. The effect is transporting. Truly, it is one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that makes you feel like you are in another world. There are two tiny cabins on the property. They are both accessed by separate footpaths through the forest, below an old red barn, surrounded by ash and walnut trees, singing birds, deer, wildflowers, and wild medicines. One cabin is in the forest, just beyond a grass circle clearing. The other is down the hill through a wildflower grove. Both sites have extra space to set up a tent if needed. The Forest Cabin is insulated with hemp, has electric lights and outlets, is bigger inside with a work desk, has Anderson crank out windows, a bigger deck, and two twin mattresses under the bed if you need them. The Wildflower Cabin is a bit deeper in the forest, a little smaller, uninsulated with two walls of old-school wood-pane windows that open out to the forest completely, one twin mattress under the bed and a powerstrip for light electric use. Both sites have private fire pits, solar shower stalls, fans for cooling and an electric heater for chilly nights. We do not allow partying. There is a profound healing process happening at the waterfall. we ask that you to respect the sacredness of this land. Thank you! It's a 10 minute hike down the gorge to the waterfall from the campsites. Each campsite has a private path down to the waterfall, where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire at your fire pit and fall asleep under the stars listening to the waterfall and the river below. Be aware that the hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Please be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and to keep noise down after 10pm to chillax and enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside that makes Schoharie so special. In the big red barn at the entrance to the campsites there is a community room with a charging station, cold water sink, mini fridge, coffee maker, grills, and a port-a-potty for your use. There are also 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water. :) This is a leave no trace campsite. Please take all your trash with you when you leave. And please bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty! Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log. Instructions for payment are in the community room next to the red silo at the barn. The wood is stacked at next to the red shed just uphill from the barn. You can also buy your own fire wood en route. We recommend that you buy kindling at the gas station on your way in. The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms with fresh produce and organic meat within 5 miles of the house. There are several farm stands and a general store a few miles away, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, and the Sap Bush Country Store and Café just up the hill in West Fulton. Mustang Valley, a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue center, is just down the road. Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, among many others.

We are in the mountains with great climbing, next to a state park. The campsite is on top of a massive boulder that looks out over the grounds with tons of wildlife surrounding. On a dead end road in the middle of the woods with no other houses within sight. ***PLEASE NOTE: BATHROOMS ARE THE SEASON. A little bit about us. This is a small campground. We do have one Glamping site as well as well as a super luxurious pool house available. We rent small retro RV's as well, see our other listings!! There are 40 acres here to explore with small streams, wetlands and forests. We have 4 modern brand new bathrooms with a hot showers in a beautiful new bathhouse with a charging station for phones and tablets. Its pretty amazing!!!!! We do have sulfur water, its great for your skin but smells! Each site usually has a 2 chairs, a table , a grill and a fire ring..... We also offer 3 vintage campers for a unique glamping experience. We have a 1984, a 1975 and a 1966 all with solar electric lighting. Running water is located at the camp store. Take a look at our listings or ask me. Boulder Point Camping is centrally located among indoor and outdoor activities, great restaurants, local shops, and antiquing. We are close to loads of hiking trails, state parks, restaurants, creeks, swimming, fishing and more. Sam's Point, Ice Caves Mountain, and Minnewaska State Park just to name a few! In addition there are plenty of microbreweries, wineries, and farms where you can pick your fruit right off the tree (or vine) as the case may be. We are also a few minutes from Angry Orchard, Gardiner Brewing Company, and Baldwin Vineyards and many many others... Dogs welcome with an additional $20 fee. Overview

Although the world-rocking festival that took the town's name actually happened about an hour away in Bethel, the mountain town of Woodstock, New York has its own bohemian, counter-cultural spirit. Creativity and tolerance still thrive in this leafy, free-spirited town, which visitors can get a taste of by exploring its art galleries, music venues, and shops. Plus, with the Catskill Mountains on its doorstep, Woodstock offers plenty of adventures. Those wishing to set up camp nearby will find lots of options.

Where to go

North of Town

The trailhead for Overlook Mountain begins around 10 minutes from Woodstock. The moderate loop takes about three hours and leads to several overlooks, including a fire tower with 360-degree views and a ruined 1930s hotel, which offer sweeping views of the Hudson Valley and Catskills.

South of Town

A 10-minute drive south of Woodstock, a gentle stroll along the Ashokan Reservoir’s two-mile-long, paved walkway offers stellar views of the Catskill Mountains and the chance to spot bald eagles and deer.

Sloan Gorge

Ten minutes northeast, Sloan Gorge Preserve offers an interpretive geology trail that leads past various Ice Age geologies, as well as creeks, quarries, and cliffs.

Haines Falls

A 30-minute drive north of Woodstock, Haines Falls is gateway to several sites of natural beauty, including the very popular, 231-foot Kaaterskill Falls, the state’s highest waterfall. The small hamlet itself is a pleasant place to visit for its handful of restaurants and antique stores, and just to the north, the Catskill Forest Preserve’s North-South Lake Campground offers access to hiking trails and swimming beaches.

With its promise of long, sunny days ideal for enjoying the trails, waterfalls, and great outdoors, summer is by far the most popular time of year to visit Woodstock and the surrounding area. However, the season can bring crowds and booked-up campsites, so try to make reservations far in advance. September and October can also get busy with visitors arriving to see fall foliage. Winters are relatively crowd-free and offer skiing and snowshoeing.
