Best Ever
With pets
In my four years and 24 nights camping with Hipcamp, this was hands down the best campsite and host experience I’ve ever had. Miss Peggy and Mr. David were incredibly warm, welcoming, and super responsive. Bearkill Creek exceeded all our expectations.
The site is massive—our group had four tents and a screened canopy, yet we still had plenty of room to spread out, relax, and enjoy a family field day. The hosts provided so many thoughtful extras, including additional tables, chairs, bikes, and games, that I realized I didn’t need to bring nearly as much as I did. Everything they provided made our stay incredibly comfortable, easy, and fun.
There was a misunderstanding with one my companions regarding disposals that I could have prevented, and Miss Peggy and Mr. David handled the situation with incredible understanding, and grace. Their kindness is truly a testament to their character.
We couldn’t have asked for a better campsite or lovelier hosts. Would love to camp here again!

The very best of camping!

We loved this cozy little spot! They had everything we needed & more! Yard games, lights, canopy set up, wood, a cozy cabin, plenty of room to explore and play. The bathroom was a nice amenity at camp, so we had our creature comforts! The host was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Peaceful, private, fully equipped.

Our family had an amazing stay at Bearkill. The site completely exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a quiet, private campsite to enjoy with our young kids and this spot was perfect. There is tons of open space to spread out tents with complete privacy, along with a super cozy cabin. The other amenities like a grill and a shower with hot water really made camping with kids more enjoyable. The kids really enjoyed the creek and toys Peggy and David provided. Really great site, really great hosts.

Two Adults Two dogs Too short
We typically would not spend this much to camp but, since we (2adults & 2 dogs) only had 2 nights, we really did not want to bring all of our camping gear. Well, I must say it was worth every dollar and we really wish we had more time to stay and play. We may have been a bit spoiled with all of the amenities, not to mention, the space and all of the fun outdoor games provided. Our 2 dogs had as much fun as we did… maybe more. It was like we had our own private campground with facilities ALL TO OURSELVES. The mix of sun (big open field) and shade was perfect. The creek along the camp was fun and fantastic for hiking and frolicking. Star gazing was amazing in the big field with a masterfully made fire pit. We applaud David’s craftsmanship on the cabin, as well as the bathhouse and other structures. This is definitely the perfect spot for first time campers, especially with kids and pets. Peggy and David were outstanding hosts and we were quite grateful they were just up the road, as we needed a jump start upon our departure. We certainly hope to be back for an extended stay with more people.

Dog-friendly site w water access!
David and Peggy’s property exceeded our expectations! It was much larger than the photos give credit for. Everything was as described and they were very responsive and easy to coordinate with. We gave them a heads up that our dogs were reactive to other dogs before arriving and they were very kind and understanding. The inside of the cabin was much more spacious than we expected, and there’s plenty of room to pitch a tent if you want to sleep separately! They have citronella oil lamps set up that work beautifully and add to great campfire vibes, plus had a ton of camp wood available for use and we didn’t even have to go out and purchase our own! Our dogs had an absolute blast zooming around the field and splashing in brook to cool off on the hotter days. I’m sure we’ll be back again soon!

We had a great time at this camp site as a group of 8 friends. It was perfect for our trip—spacious, private, and really convenient to have a bathroom and shower on-site. The hosts were great, and communication was smooth and easy. Highly recommend for any group trip!

Best Family Camping Trip Yet!

What a lovely set up, from the privacy of the space to the babbling brook and the amenities and games to enjoy! David and Peggy are super hospitable and quick to respond, this whole situation is truly a gem. If you want an easy and relaxing place to stay this is it! Make sure to check out the Gilboa Fossils!

Being from New York City, this was our very first camping experience ever, and David and Peggy have made this a very unique experience. The camping site was very well prepared and included all the amenities that made our stay extremely enjoyable. They've had all the firewood we needed to start our own campfire, which was the highlight of our trip. The site was secluded enough that felt like we were completely removed from society while it gave us comfort that it was also a short walk away from the main road and the farm house. I would highly recommend this place for first time campers like us. When we visit Catskills area again, we will definitely keep this place in mind and make an effort to stay here for a few days! Thank you for everything!

We arrived just in time to see the start of Fall Foliage. This campsite was very private and had everything we could ever ask for -- from a brook right by the cabin to an indoor bathroom & shower. We had a blast!

We had a great time staying by the creek. My 9yr old son was in the creek the entire time we were there. This was our first time ever "camping" so we didn't have many expectations going into it. But the 2 acre site had everything you could need from bikes, and all sorts of sports equipment to a covered mini kitchen area with gas grill and a covered place to sit and eat. The only negative was the air mattresses in the cabin. Every time one of us moved in either bed (we were sleeping 2 on each bunk bed) the mattresses made loud noises and our sleep was not the best. Other than that we had a wonderful time and it was a great introduction to camping for my family of 4.

Perfect nature getaway!
Group trip
We loved it!! The camp house was a little smaller than we would’ve liked but the beds were very spacious and the outdoors was huge!!! Plenty of room for many kids or for a “camping party”. The owners were very welcoming and inviting and they even left us maple syrup from their town! We would say to bring flashlights because it does get very dark at night. So much so, that you can’t even see your hand in front of your face 😂. This is the perfect family area with plenty of games, space, bikes, activities, and not to mention necessities. They provided tents, soaps, coal and plenty of wood for fires. Will definitely be coming back!
