Our tent and yurt sites are located on 5 acres of private woods and are 4 acres apart to allow for maximum privacy for our guests! Parking for both sites are shared. The tent is 50 yards up a rustic wooded path through the woods and the yurt is an 800 yard (10 minute) uphill walk from the parking area. Both sites are adjacent to our local network of hiking/biking trails that connect to the summit of Mount Agassiz, which offers stunning views of Franconia Notch. Additionally, within a half hour drive, you have access to some of the best hiking in the North East. We are happy to provide recommendations! The surrounding towns are home to three different breweries, numerous restaurants serving up delicious food and quaint main streets. The SiloSide barn and homestead is better known around town as the "Old Somers Farm" in reference to the day when the barn housed 60 head of cows. The farm was a part of the Cabot Creamery Cooperative, and closed this era in the late 1980s. Prior to being a dairy farm consisting of over 500 acres, the property served as a tavern, inn, tannery, and has always been a traditional, well-loved farmhouse. Our farmhouse was built in 1785, and the barn built around the 1830s and expanded in 1941. The soil here is rich, and the forest full of wildlife. We've named our home "SiloSide" as tribute to the magic we feel on the non-road facing, silo-side of the barn, where you'll be camping.

This beautiful, historic property was one of the first to be settled in the early 1800s. The credited first settler in Charleston, Vermont; Abner Allyn and his family owned this farm for 100 years! Our family began restoring the farmhouse as well as beginning a small regenerative farming operation in 2022. Currently we have a laying flock of about 250 chickens. We pasture raise meat birds and pigs. Our animals are fed an organic feed local to Vermont and are pasture raised. Freya and Luna are the Great Pyrenees' about the farm. They protect the flocks and pigs from predators. They are working dogs and have access to the entire property. For this-and other reasons, we discourage bringing pets to the farm. A sweet brook meanders through the property which all sites have access to as well as stunning views of bald mountain. Lovely farm views throughout the seasons. Multiple trails for exploring can be found on and off farm. Trail heads to multiple mountains are within a few minutes of campsites. If safe to have campfires, we sell firewood to campers. There is also an array of delicious products offered in the farm stand! Come check out our bacon, eggs and biscuits. With enough heads up, we can have fresh baked goods and sourdough available for your stay. Let us know, we love to host! This place is wonderful and so peaceful. The tent is wonderful, super comfortable, and clean. The bedding was soft and warm. And the view was just lovely--especially if you are into star gazing. The yard for each tent is well equipped, well maintained, lots of places to sit and eat. I absolutely loved it. And the bathrooms are immaculate and insanely cute. Look at the pics! Betsey was a great host and the glamping accommodations were perfect for my father-in-law. It was nice to have some protected space to spread out on a drizzly day, too. The outdoor shower was great after bike rides, particularly if you time it right after Betsey brings out hot water to refill the shower in the late afternoon.

2 nights at Mountain View Gardens & Apiary

This is a great little spot to get away from life. The walk-in is manageable, and at night the pathway is well-lit. The different lights and lanterns are quite magical! I didn't use the gazebo, but it would be a great place to spend a night by the campfire with friends. The yurt is nestled in a shaded spot in the woods past the gazebo and offers complete privacy. It has a covered porch with a cookstove and water station. A table/chairs, tiki torches, and a fire pit complete the site. The loo is further back, and that path is also able to be lit at night with tiki's. The yurt itself was very comfortable, despite the heat and humidity during my stay. I used the provided fan when needed and slept great on the very comfortable bed. There are some great reading materials available in the yurt, along with most everything you might need. The solar electric was more than enough for my needs. I'd never stayed in a yurt before and didn't know what to expect, but the way it is set up and decorated, it was really a cool stay!! The mosquitoes weren't bad. I did set up my ThermaCell, though, and that was enough to keep the few around at bay. Angela is readily available if you have any questions or concerns. What I liked most about this wa the "secluded" feel without sacrificing that sense of security. My dog was able to wander about and get in and out of the yurt at will with the mesh screen. It's a great location for exploring all the area has to offer in any direction. Book it!

Weekend Trip to Mountain View Gardens & Apiary

This was our first time camping in a Yurt, and I feel like all other yurts have been ruined for us in perpetuity! The owner is VERY responsive, and makes you feel very welcome (although we weren’t able to meet her due to our late arrival and her getting sick). We were arriving so late due to my truck breaking down, and she turned on the pathway lights to the yurt, lit the tiki torches that light the way to the loo, and had the entire place immaculate! Inside the yurt there was EVERYTHING you could possibly need or want in a camping experience. She had a fan blowing to keep us cool, and for the winter there is a wood fired heater, and a blanket heater for the bed. I felt like we got treated better here than at any fancy hotel. We will be coming back very soon. I loved everything about this experience, even seeing her honey bees!!! 10/10 recommend!

Weekend Trip to Vermont Rustic Retreat

Kathleen’s land is incredibly beautiful. The cabin is small but very comfortable. The views are incredible! You can literally watch the sun set over the mountains from the porch. Parking is very convenient, you back up pretty much right to the side of the cabin. The cabin is well equipped with basic cooking needs. John greeted us upon arrival and was very friendly and knowledgeable with the area.

2 nights at Private Mountainside Forest Retreat

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay there. The tent was very clean inside, the bed was pretty comfortable, and the outhouse was really inviting (weird thing to say but true)! There were some dishes and cooking supplies provided, the lantern was a great touch, and the sites were relatively private. I would prefer to have been a bit further from folks, but it totally beats a state park. You can see the other tents, but can't really hear them. The walk from the car to camp wasn't bad at all, and she provides a couple of wagons to load up and bring items to the campsite. There were very little mosquitos up on top of the hill, beautiful sunrises, and Lori is very sweet and will tell you about all the great local spots. Really fantastic general store down the road with great food, too.
