We can accommodated small respectful groups of campers looking for a quiet stay in nature. It's a great spot for local Scout Troops to pitch their tents and explore nature. Message for more information.

Our 2 acre property and house is located in the center of the small town of Leverett. We have two sites, a private camping spot located down by the stream, and a yurt at the edge of the yard. We are near a paved road with moderate traffic.
The property abuts many acres of woods and there are a number of great walking trails nearby. A half-mile walk behind the house takes you through the forest to an outlook on Leverett Pond.
The Peace Pagoda is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby destinations include Cushman Market and Cafe, the Montague Bookmill, and Mt. Toby waterfall, caves, and lookout tower.
Leverett Pond has a public boat launch nearby. We have canoes, paddles, and lifejackets available for rent--inquire for details!
The area has excellent bike riding as well. We enjoy all these activities and are happy to share further destinations, routes, and suggestions!

As always we are excited and can't wait to share our place with you! We are a small farmette with goats, chickens, ducks, fruits, veggies, and Irish Wolfhounds. The 1.3 acre parcel across the street from the house and farm has a forested peninsula that the A-frame is located on. Our street ends in a small stream that continues to separate the farmstead from the A-frame site.
Come stay in our tiny rustic A frame cabin built of mostly reclaimed materials. Enjoy being across the stream and over the bridge from the main house on a private peninsula. Enjoy the privacy of a "single site" camp! Use the fire pit, grill, outdoor wood stove, single burner butane stove or umm the bathroom :) without having to leave your site! Please be aware we are in town and you may hear road noise, lawn mowers, dogs, ect. You may also see and hear wildlife ex; deer, beavers, ducks, muskrats, rabbits, geese, foxes, and coyotes. We encourage native plants and work to provide a sanctuary for many threatened bird species.
The cabin is 100sq. feet with sloping interior walls the flip up side wall is permanently open and screened in. There is no running water or electricity so unplug and unwind. A place to plug in and the water spigot a short stroll from your cabin in the driveway The cabin has a a full size mattress with sheets, blankets, throws and pillows. Lanterns, cooking utensils, camp mugs and camp coffee pot are provided. Please request the cast iron skillet and butane burner, it will not be in the cabin if you do not ask for it.
You are also welcome to set up your own tent. Please note cleared space is limited and the tent should be a 1-3 person smaller tent.
Outside on the deck are tiki torches, woodstove and bistro table. There is a hammock, picnic table, and 2 sets of outdoor chairs at your site. We do not have a swimming hole but the town beach is 5 minutes away and requires a day pass.
If you forget something you are a short walk to Cumbies, and several farms, bakeries and a large grocer are a very short drive away. Venture farther (10 minutes) to one of the nearby hiking trails.
We are within 15 minutes of the Blackstone Gorge, Southern New England Trunkline Trail, Cornier Woods, Franklin State Forest, Wojcik Farm, Cook's Valley Farm, the New England Bonsai Museum, Diamond Hill Vineyards, Caroline's Cannabis, Shire Conservation Area, New England Country Club, and many stables.

Salamander Hollow is a private, evolving honeybee and human being
sanctuary on 17 acres of land abutting Massachusetts State Forest. We
currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags.
'Forest Bathing' for miles!
If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors.
Note that Kula Bata Tiny Cabin abuts the wheelchair accessible larger bathroom/shower which is available to those at the Salamander Hollow main camp, yet you are secluded with your own private entry points and private bathroom.
A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain. There is a grill, wood fired pizza oven, two fire pits and a hygienic Incinolet electric toilet on the property for night convenience, with small camp sinks for washing & teeth brushing.
Take a short hike off the property to organic Chase Hill Farm for milk, eggs, seasonal veggies, grass fed meat and other goodies. Say hello to their cows, chickens, pigs, goats, pups and kids. Nestled across the road from Salamander Hollow is Timber Haven Farm, where you can schedule your pickup of bacon and eggs, while loading up on delicious Owl Energy Bars for your adventurous excursions. For those interested in the glamping side of camping, you will enjoy a remote rustic experience with a few creature comforts to keep you well read, clean and fed. Please bring your own bedding - pillows, sleeping bags, comforter, teddy bears.There is a wall mounted blue tooth car radio/CD player in Sleeping Library, so bring your pre-digital favorites. Bring fire-starters/newspaper for tinder. We suggest if you are staying more than a night or two in winter, you bring supplemental wood or we can direct you to a nearby stand. Next season, our own cut and split wood will be seasoned and available on site. We ask that you carry out trash and recyclables.
An established Western facing four point sacred Medicine Wheel site being established on Askari Ridge - our name for the slope starting with the two fire pits - 'Askari' being Swahili for night guard.
Here is where we envision a great touch-point area for those leading groups to be for a base-camp by day or night, where eventually a multi-use tenting platform/performance stage will be constructed for outdoor entertainment, creating an authentic 'stadium style' seating on the hill.
You will see on your way up to Salamander Hollow main clearing - the Kula Bata Tiny Kabin on the left of the dirt road- now available to rent with its small guest room for two, infrared sauna, hot shower, kitchenette, dishwasher and laundry.

You can enjoy glamping in our greenhouse-tent for peace and tranquility. There is a cabin built inside the tent. It is under a canopy of trees with a cool pond breeze prevailing. The bed and linens are first rate for a very comfortable stay. There are shelves, potable water and a table within. It is heated in the cool temps and fan cooled in the warmer days. There is a kayak and paddleboard available to borrow. There is a dryflush toilet, hand sink and outdoor heated shower in the back of the tent. Cooking is on charcoal grill and toaster oven. There are dishes, cups and utensils for your use. as well as coffee press and hot water boiler.
The 40 acre pond is 65 feet deep. It is a kettle pond which is spring fed with no river inlets to pollute it. Access is a little tricky with 100 yard hike from the parking area down a steep slope. The pond is stocked with bass and trout for great fishing. The birds are amazing. Henry David Thoreau wrote about White Pond in his book, Walden as the "emerald eyes of the world." This is a place that magic happens.

Weekend Trip to The Cabin
Beautiful property with nice views. Cabin was comfortable and clean, as was the outhouse. Rainwater for washing was an added bonus. Julie the host could not have been nicer and accommodating. She knew it was going to be colder the night we stayed and left an extra blanket, which made all the difference. Also gave us lots of recommendations for eating spots. There is a great deal of wildlife, we heard owls and coyotes at night, but nothing bothered us. Would stay again.

Weekend Trip to Ponderings at White Pond
We celebrated my birthday weekend here. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a laid back, peaceful weekend by a beautiful clear pond. Claudine and Henry were excellent hosts and gave us a tour so we knew where everything was. They were 100% accessible to us, but we still had our privacy. I enjoyed using the paddle board.
We used to do more rustic camping for my birthday weekend but this was just the upgrade I needed for my beleaguered middle-aged body. The tent/cabin was very cozy and clean, with electricity so we could curl up to a movie at night with our laptop. A hot shower was much appreciated after a day of swimming. Very comfy bed.
We used the rocket stove for most of our meals, which is great for cooking in a pan or open flame grilling with just a small amount of wood. Also used the charcoal grill. The toaster oven was perfect for roasting potatoes.
I also just really enjoyed talking to them! Laid back, kind people and I would 100% visit again.

Incredible location, hosts, and cabin. This was the perfect setup. It wasnt overdone to ruin the experience of the natural surroundings but still comfortable to stay in after a day of exploring. Julia and Dave were so kind and accommodating. I would highly recommend and plan to go back when I can.

We had a wonderful time, on a very hot summer day & night, at Claudine's glamping spot on White Pond. Very comfy bed and indoor set-up, and lots more creature comforts/amenities. We would happily return and our dog loved the experience (especially the swimming) too!

We absolutely loved our stay! This was such an amazing and unique experience and definitely one of the most memorable stops on our road trip. The kids and the hubs loved spending time with the horses, and it was so much fun getting to stay somewhere completely different from the usual hotel or campground.
And I have to give a special shoutout to the bed because after four nights of sleeping on a tent floor, it may have been the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. 😂
The hosts were incredibly nice and welcoming, the whole experience was wonderful, and we'd absolutely stay again. If you're looking for a unique place to stay and love horses, this is definitely worth it!

If you're in the mood for 'shack on an island in a New England pond', here it is! I very much enjoyed swimming, resting, going ashore for forest walks, and a nice campfire at night. Mary is a friendly and helpful host, and knows how to hold space for solitude.

Weekend Trip to Ponderings at White Pond
Claudine & Henry are very sweet & accommodating! Their property was amazing as it felt like being at a fancy hotel with nature's touch! Swimming multiple times in the pond and enjoying meals on the floating dock really made our trip! The electric kettle and toaster oven were also extremely useful especially during bad weather!

We had a Hobbit themed party on this property and it was perfect. It’s beautiful, very on brand with The Shire. Very spacious, most of us slept in tents in the yard. When it rained everyone slept in the barn so it’s nice to have the option. Jocelyn is excellent, she came to say hello, checked in to make sure we had everything we needed with her dog Pepperoni. She also gave us a great recommendation for a swimming hole nearby! 10/10

A night in the bell tent at Foxtrot Farm was a perfect way to avoid the heavy rainstorms set to come our way. We had a restful and cozy night, and the farm is such a splendor to see. It was a beautiful and very peaceful spot to spend a night! Comfortable sleeping arrangements in the bell tent, with lovely gardens, scenic view, and we even got to see a cute little porcupine waddling through the field at dusk. Abby was very good about giving us clear directions to the farm and helpful info. Would definitely recommend!

Wells is a great place to see wildlife and find peace and quiet
The pond is as seen and rarely swimmable
But attracts alot of wildlife. So it depends on why you camp....wanna swim?,....not here,....hike?,..... no doubt you will love it,....and quiet!
