Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

There's a portable toilet on site seasonally for guests staying on the lower half of the farm. We can accommodated small respectful groups of campers looking for a quiet stay in nature. We are near a paved road with moderate traffic. The property abuts many acres of woods and there are a number of great walking trails nearby. A half-mile walk behind the house takes you through the forest to an outlook on Leverett Pond. The Peace Pagoda is just a few miles up the road. Other nearby destinations include Cushman Market and Cafe, the Montague Bookmill, and Mt. Toby waterfall, caves, and lookout tower. Leverett Pond has a public boat launch nearby. Once written about by Henry David Thoreau in Walden. He called it one of the "emerald eyes of the world" . A magical place yet so close to Boston. Learn more about this land: You can enjoy glamping in our greenhouse-tent for peace and tranquility. There is a cabin built inside the tent.  It is under a canopy of trees with a cool pond breeze prevailing. The bed and linens are first rate for a very comfortable stay. There are shelves, potable water and a table within. It is heated in the cool temps and fan cooled in the warmer days.  There is a kayak and paddleboard available to borrow. There is a dryflush toilet, hand sink and outdoor heated shower in the back of the tent. Cooking is on charcoal grill and toaster oven. There are dishes, cups and utensils for your use. as well as coffee press and hot water boiler. The 40 acre pond is 65 feet deep. It is a kettle pond which is spring fed with no river inlets to pollute it.  Access is a little tricky with 100 yard hike from the parking area down a steep slope.  The pond is stocked with bass and trout for great fishing. The birds are amazing.  Henry David Thoreau wrote about White Pond in his book, Walden as the "emerald eyes of the world."  This is a place that magic happens.

Weekend Trip to Ponderings at White Pond

They greeted us upon arrival and told us some fun stories. They showed us everything we needed to know and then let us enjoy. The dock/raft/boat thing was such a fun surprise. We got to cruise around the pond, fish and jump in. Comfortable bed in the cabin/tent as well. Nice temperature inside despite the warm temps outside.

This was my second time staying and it was just as lovely! April is a wonderful host, and the space is wonderfully peaceful and stocked with basically everything you need. It is such a convenient location too---took only 90 minutes or so even with traffic from the Boston area! It's nice to have a getaway without having to drive all the way up to the lakes region or White Mountains. Could not recommend more!

2 nights at Sip Pond Lakefront Cottage

My wife and I booked this as a couples' getaway and had a wonderful time. Despite rainy weather for much of our stay, the pondfront setting was beautiful and peaceful. The wood-burning stove made the cottage especially cozy, and we found ourselves enjoying the sound of the rain and the view across the water. A perfect place to unplug, relax, and spend quality time together. We'd definitely come back.

1 night at Winimusett Brook Farm Retreat

This cozy cabin is the absolute perfect nature retreat. Me and my wife stayed during some rain and listening to it fall through the leaves with the wood fire crackling away was soul nourishing. Getting to the location was very easy, although it did require a bit of steep hiking to get there. My only complaint was that I only booked one night! Our dogs loved it too. The loft is a bit tight but cozy and comfortable. We loved our time here and we're looking forward to our next visit!

The perfect feeling of elevated camping! The wrap around windows and bench seats make this place so cozy. You have most everything you may need as noted in other reviews. Worth noting electricity is on generator only but there was even a charger battery pack left for us with outlet/USB connections should you need it to charge phones and such. Only turned electricity on for use of coffee pot!

Weekend Trip to Red Maple Farm Riverside Cabin

This place was absolutely magical! We booked it for a girls’ trip to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and it exceeded every expectation. The river was the perfect temperature and quickly became our favorite spot to spend the day. You can tell the hosts put so much thought into every detail, with all the little things you might need already there and ready for guests. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the privacy was unmatched. It truly felt like our own little slice of paradise. If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway surrounded by nature, this is it. We made amazing memories here and are already talking about our next trip back. I can’t recommend this place enough!

Mary is a great host. We loved staying in the tiny cabin for a quick getaway- nothing beats a night by the campfire looking at the stars. Super comfortable with all the amenities, and easy to locate. Loved it.

What a beautiful place to “rough it!” The yurt was beautifully decorated, had everything we needed, and in a very picturesque location (on a mountain top). Shannon was super easy to work with, very communicative, and oh so helpful! Even the outhouse was a new/unique experience- super clean, high tech, and odor free. Wish we could’ve stayed there longer and will definitely plan to in the future.

Everything was as advertised or better! The Safari Tent site is very private and quiet. The “loo” is sparkling clean and the site was very well equipped. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! The hot shower near the hot tub was LEGITIMATELY HOT and the hot tub was clean with a great view of the pond.

The sight had the most serene view of a waterfall. It was a very large & private area that included everything needed for a wonderful camping experience. The hosts also provided so many so many little accessories ie inflatable tubes, dog line, rain ponchos, fire lighters etc. this site provided a wonderful camping experience without doing all the work.
