Welcome to our beautiful house in a tree. Take your dreams of sleeping in a treehouse and make them come true in comfort. The amenities of a home, fully surrounded by nature. The property is 1/2 a mile down a forested private dirt road, 5 miles from the center of town. You pull into your parking space off our driveway and see the house above you, a large fire pit area, flower gardens, lawn games below the house and the outhouse and shower tucked in the woods. Follow the path to the stairs that lead you up to the large porch overlooking the forest surrounding you. Our treehouse is on a driveway with our home further up and a full-time tenant below and you will find you have all the privacy you need. You will have the whole treehouse and its surrounding area to yourself. Inside you will find the kitchen, dining area, sitting room and sleeping loft. A full kitchen welcomes you with an induction stove, spices and every cooking supply to cook your meals. Cozy up on the couch by the fire to read a book or pull out the full-size bed for additional sleeping space. The loft has a queen bed, some storage and the most beautiful place to wake up. Look out over the wooden banisters, all harvested within 100 ft of the property, to the full wall of east facing windows. Take it all in before you have your coffee by the stove or out on the sunny deck. We built this from all locally sourced wood with our own hands and truly have put our hearts into every part of it. The great outdoors are waiting for you in every direction. You can start a hike out your door, the woods and trails are welcomed to be explored, and you will not see "no trespassing" signs in the woods often, so feel free to walk on the many trails or dirt roads right here. Take a short drive to Putney Mountain or Black Mountain for hikes with stunning views. Local swimming holes and waterfalls are easy to find for a cool dip. For the winter, we are an hour from 8 large ski valleys (Magic Mountain, Mount Snow, Okemo, Stratton, Ascutney, Prospect, Killington and Bromley) and there are smaller options closer as well. Brattleboro even has a ski lift with $5 lift tickets. Southern Vermont has many offerings for food, shopping, art, music and activities in rain, shine or snow. You are near everything you could need, all while living in the woods for your stay. In Putney Center, you will find a few restaurants, our local food coop, the general store and some shops. Don’t miss our year-round farmers’ market or the local theater and music offerings: Next Stage Arts, Yellow Barn International Music Center, and the Sandglass Theater. Brattleboro is only 17 miles south and offers a wider variety of shops, restaurants, galleries and venues. Farms and orchards are scattered all over for a visit and seasonal local festivals and events are frequent. Vermont is known for its local faire and adventures, and we’d love to share our favorite recommendations with you. We are available at any time via text or phone with questions, recommendations or assistance of any kind. Some logistics to note about living the woods: Water: The water in the sink is not for drinking, and there is drinking water in a separate container. The hot outdoor shower is stunning and an amazing place to get clean and bask in nature from April to November and is closed during the freezing months. The outdoor sink is cold water only and not on in the winter. The toilet is a composting toilet in an outhouse with simple instructions on how to use it. It is very clean and does not smell. We use a local organization for waste called The Rich Earth Institute in Brattleboro. The Pellet stove: This is a luxury for heating up the space as needed. there are detailed instructions available upon arrival. The heat fan can be a bit noisy. Induction Stove: The stove top is induction and we're happy to help if the instructions for use are unclear. Also, it is not recommended that people with pacemakers cook on induction stove tops. Electricity: The switches and plugs are wired to the grid inside, and the outdoor lights and motion lights are solar. When the weather is cloudy for days on end, we will help with other options for light outdoors if needed. The Road: Our property is very private and rural, we live on a private road 1/2 a mile from the main road. In the winter or mud season, you may need 4x4 or all wheel drive if there are poor conditions. Please go slow on the road in all seasons. Putney village - 10min Brattleboro - 20min Mt. Treehouse Haven in Putney
Great Treehouse
This treehouse is amazing! Swift and Brian thought of everything in designing this space. It's clean, comfortable, and really fun. The pellet stove is noisy - Swift warned me about this ahead of time - but I just shut it off at night and the treehouse stayed warm enough until morning. If you're at all on the fence about booking a stay here, just do yourself and favor and do it.

A beautiful retreat!
The treehouse is absolutely amazing! So much care went into building this gorgeous space. There is beautiful integrity in everything about it. It’s warm, clean, has a wonderful little kitchen that is simple and full of spices and oils so I could cook to my heart’s delight. My hosts were wonderful and accommodating, and they were always easy to reach. The treehouse is located on their gorgeous property, and my favorite activity was exploring the woods right out the front door. Thank you for an amazing stay!
