Heritage Hills isn't called Heritage Hills for nothing! It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. We don’t have a dump station or trash cans so please pack in and pack out. Phone signal is good throughout the area and we are close to civilization for necessities and only 20 minutes from Marquette. So much stuff to do in this area!

We are 7 miles from downtown Marquette, 8 miles from the shores of beautiful Lake Superior and 53 miles from Pictured Rocks National Park. We are about 4 miles off of US 41 nestled in a quiet forest like setting. We built our home here in 2019 and are continually making improvements to the land. We tap our trees for maple syrup in the spring-you will drive by our "sugar shack" and raise chickens in our very nice coop -no roosters to awaken you! Come and enjoy some peace and quiet at our Northern Oasis! There is guest internet but its patchy in camping area-better closer to the house and large firepit area There is a charcoal grill near communal firepit area. We are near 2 river basins(McClure Basin and Dead River Basin) for fishing, swimming and boating ( kayaks and canoe for rent on this site-see extras! ) We are on the route of the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike epic and not far from the North Country Trail. We have options of open sites and a couple more private wooded sites. There are at least two areas for small campers and several choices for tents and/or hammocks.. There is a communal/central fire pit, picnic table area as well as a larger fire pit with picnic table closer to house. We have nice fire wood available on site -see "extras" or for purchase when you get here! There are yard games, extra chairs and a small table in the red shed. This can also be used as a storm shelter if needed! There is a "port-a-john" on site- extra TP is kept in red shed hanging on nail in a bag. Please let us know if this needs attention.

We are located in a quiet area of the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We currently have camping space available both for tents and camping with an RV. We are a working farm and home to cows horses, pigs, chickens, a handful of ducks and some of the softest rabbits you will ever meet. 120 acres of country paradise to use as your base camp for adventuring in the Keweenaw. 20 minutes from Houghton and 20 minutes from Baraga/L’Anse. Snowmobile and ATV trail #3 is just a short cruise down Donken-Tapiola Road. Furry friends are always welcome and are able to be off leash! Turtle Pond Site has an approx. 12x30 foot level gravel pad and a fire pit on a small pond frequented by turtles, ducks, deer, birds, and even an occasional beaver. There is a 100 year old Finnish Homestead a short walk down a mowed trail. Guests are encouraged to take a look, but please don't enter the buildings as their integrity is unknown. We strive to continue to improve our property every year. This year, we are working to improve the pond health and its borders. Site 2, The Garden Site, is 50 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site. Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, is a century old hunting cabin with 2 cots on the main floor and 2 singles in the loft. Site 3 includes an outhouse and sauna. All sites have a picnic table, firepit and outhouse. Campers are responsible for removal of all other waste. The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended. These isolated sites are beautiful and rustic and nestled in the midst of the Noquemanon Trail Network (cross country skiing and mountain biking) and North Country Trails and are approximately 2 miles from Lake Superior, Harlow Lake and Dead River. 4 kayaks/paddles/life vests and a 12 foot boat are available for camper use. You'll be camping on our Stanley lake sugarbush property. Lakefront sites have power and water - are located in a grassy clearing on the shores of Stanley Lake. ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGING OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES ON PROPERTY!! Primitive sites are amongst the maple trees of our sugarbush operation, within walking distance of the lake. These sites do not yet have water or electricity, but water is available from spigots at the lake clearing. Stanley lake is just shy of 400 acres, known for walleye and bass. It is an all sports lake with no limited wake hours. Feel free to roam our woods - you will notice the blue maple lines come to an end at our east and west property lines, as well as a no trespassing sign on the lake clearing to the west line. Deer here are plentiful, and you can often get them to eat from your hand, provided you have apples. Iron county has a tremendous ORV/snowmobile trail system. Doc Bell operated his veterinarian practice from this farm starting in 1915, giving his name to the creek running through the property and the lake it feeds. A family from Finland purchased the property from the Bell family in the 1960s and lived on the homestead until 2020 when we purchased it. We hope to continue the tradition of generational homesteading, while sharing this piece of God’s country with you! We loved camping our RV at the Homestead site at Heritage Hills! Our hosts were so kind, helpful.and friendly, and have the sweetest dogs. We had a beautiful site in a clearing near the woods, and were right in top of the RAMBA mountain bike trails. There's a really nice extensive path through the property where I could walk the dogs each day.

Such a beautiful property with walking trails throughout. The fall colors were at peak and it was lovely & peaceful. Phil and Joni were wonderful hosts -- the kind of people that makes your stay even better. Both were very kind and fun to chat with. I mustn't forget to mention their sweet dogs. The little one, Becky, was my little guy's new best friend. And Silver - what a gentle soul. The beautiful black Collie is a bit stand-offish, but she finally let me pet her. If you're lucky, the two horses will visit you at your campsite. Heritage Hills is truly a gem. 💕

Weekend Trip to Heritage Hills

Very cool camping experience. Quiet and wooded but with views of the stables and horses. Joni and Phil were often out and about and were very friendly and helpful.

The lake was beautiful and we enjoyed the Fishing Kayak with trolling motor. There was noise with the Highway being so close, but we still enjoyed ourselves ! We would stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Blueberry fields campground

We enjoyed our stay on Tom's land. It is extremely private with camp sites spaced very far apart on 70 mostly untouched acres. We chose to camp in the furthest spot from the road, which was very peaceful and secluded. Would recommend for folks who want lots of privacy and enjoy rustic wilderness and nature as much as we did. Thank you, Tom!!

1 night at Heritage Hills

The location and campsite worked well for my one night stay. Phil was available at arrival and showed me the way to my site. The site was grassy with some shading. Quiet and peaceful. There were horses nearby, but you would never know unless you looked and watch them grazing quietly in the grass.

Beautiful Spot! Owners are very responsive, friendly, they have just about everything you need to get away for a few days sunny or raining. They offer so much recreation it’s unbelievable. There is not one thing I can think of after being there for 7 days that could use improvement 1000 stars for Ruth Lake Resort. And Thank you so much!!!!

Weekend Trip to Blueberry fields campground

Beautiful land, secluded and quiet yet close to beach (1 mile to the left when leaving the property takes you to a scenic spot with beach access). Saw deer, a cute little skunk and enjoyed the birds. Easy drive to Marquette for a rainy day.
