Howard is a great host and really cares about you having a great stay. He came with local pamphlets for site seeing and places to eat. We felt very secluded and the beach is fantastic! You can walk for miles it seems like. It’s a hidden gem!!

3 nights at Private Wooded Camping on the Lake

We are return campers here! This is our favorite spot. Very private and gorgeous area, the private beach and cheap kayak rentals are always a plus and make for a fun time! The host is very helpful and responsive, there’s always been firewood there everytime as well. There is a port a potty there that is stocked and has always been pretty clean when weve been there (for a porta potty). Great place to come with friends to have a fun camping trip instead of having to get multiple campsites in a public campground where you can hear/see your neighbor campers the whole time. Thank you for another great camping trip in the books!

It's a small but beautiful site, with direct beach access. It was very quiet except for the Cranes and frogs haha. Will definitely keep this on my will go back to hipcamps. My trailer is 27' 9" and my truck is 22'. I recommend coming in from the south as it was impossible to back in from the north.

This site is absolutely magical. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. It's private but also super close to porcupine mountains and Ontonagon gas stations and cafes. There also were ZERO flies and mosquitos which was shocking for end of May. I will 100% be back!

Thoroughly enjoyed this spot. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay instead of going to a new campsite. We had it all to ourselves the full week which was even better. The stars at night over the water and from the fire were phenomenal. Such a serene location. There is a home right behind the sauna and many others nearby which was unexpected but didn’t pose an issue just much less of a secluded campground than initially expected. Great location to travel the UP on day trips.

Beautiful property out in nature, by a pond with lovely vocal frogs & insects. Host was super friendly and helpful, came and met us & showed us in. Loved his outhouse loo (it is a walk a way but no more than a store car lot to the store for example). Basic amenities but lovely and clean, ground is off road but firm and my minivan was fine. Beautiful open sky, view of the lake and sunrise / sunset was beautiful if you walk to the open field where lake view is.

It was a nice and well looked after property, they have a shower and sauna all in one building, spacious places for tent, picnic table and fire ring, you only have to talk to someone by messaging, and they are prompt at responding, we definitely plan on going back, only downside, no WiFi, phone in SOS mode, I’d rather pay a little more for WiFi though. But well worth the stay.

This was a really good place to park our converted van for a couple nights. The views were amazing and lots of wildlife! Definitely make sure you back in as it is very sandy! It's very secluded but not at the same time. It is right off a dirt road and you'll have a few cars go by, I was kinda under the impression it was more remote. You have a few neighbors but there's a privacy fence. Super thankful for the outhouse and the fire ring! And the beach was wonderful. Would definitely come back again.

Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! The bird calls were nice, even heard a barred owl, an eagle flew overhead and a hummingbird stopped by for a visit. The beach is so clean and we found some yooperlites! The fire pit ring was best I've ever had the pleasure of burning a fire in. We will stay here again.

The very quick response time before checking in was extremely helpful as we were coming from NW Indiana. Madelin was such a great host on her own for our stay as the Mr. was under the weather. Perfect location between cities and recreational attractions we were wanting to visit. Nice property and the animals are fun!! Will have to come back when warmer to play disc golf!

Loved this spot. We were here in November and it was perfect, absolutely beautiful. The beach is very nice and there is a park about a mile down the road. The only suggestion I would make is if you don’t have 4x4 to keep your car near the road or the porta potty as the sand gets pretty soft further in. Also, regarding the sand, I was surprised that it does not stick to the bottom of your shoes and dogs feet. Even after it rained. We had almost no sand in our camper over the weekend. I would highly recommend this site!

Keep your eyes open for wildlife as you cross the boardwalk to the beach. Bring your kayak and or paddle board for a unique experience. A boat launch 1/2 mile away can easily accommodate 16 ft motor boats if fishing is of interest. Enjoy waterfalls? Bond, Agate, Bonanza, and O Kun-de kun and many more are all within an hour. ATV trails are abundant as well and all county roads allow both ATV and snowmobile traffic, with appropriate permits.

Down the gravel road about 1/3 miles are logging roads to hike, bike and explore. OHV trails are a couple miles away but check local maps for detailed information. Intentionally being minimalists beyond a fire ring and picnic table, there is a port-a-john (of humble means) to make your stay comfortable. For guests we also have a community fire pit in our yard and host fires most nights that we have guests.
