We are minutes from award winning fishing spots on the Big Manistee, Little Manistee, Bear Creek Trout Streams and the Platte River. There are many opportunities to canoe, kayak and paddle board. We are 10 minutes from the Lake Michigan shore, and many beaches are close by. You have a choice of gorgeous sand beaches with picturesque dunes, and rocky beaches for those looking for fossils, agates, beach glass & beautiful beach stones. We are within an hour of Sleeping Bear Dunes with award winning hiking. Traverse City is 40 minutes away with many activities, especially the Cherry Festival. This area is known for live music venues, and lots of weekend art festivals. Manistee is also home to the Little River Casino. We have firepits at each campsite, dry firewood is available to purchase, feel free to pay by cash, Venmo or CashApp, cost is $15.00 a wheelbarrow and can be found by the wood burning stove under shelter. Fresh flowers bouquets are available to purchase seasonally at our Floral Stand & Market. We have local NON GMO Pasture raised eggs $5 a dozen, Sourdough Bread $10, organically grown garlic, peaches, scones & fishing lures & our Guest Book! An outhouse is available for use and is supplied with toilet paper & hand sanitizer. There is a garbage can and recycling bin near the outhouse. We installed a water hydrant close to the flower bed near the wood pile so you can get potable water to bring back to your site, or hose off with on the spot. We love Blue Lake Biergarten! Our family joined two other families for a fall camping weekend, and had a lovely time. The camping areas are so spacious we all had plenty of room. The grates on the fire pits were perfect for cooking our meals, and the kids had a blast playing capture the flag and collecting dead sticks for campfires. Our weekend lined up with a tasting event from Long Road Distilling, which was a fun treat when we visited the biergarten. We're already looking forward to the next time we go!

This is all before we get to the quaint Biergarten with a food truck, a small assortment of mixed drinks and beers from local breweries who use hops grown on the farm. I hiked Owasippe Scout Reservation’s trails, which were nearby, and visited Lake Michigan. Great visit!

My husband and I rented a site here for our anniversary and we had a great time! The owner was very welcoming and super chill! The showers and restrooms are very clean and smelt good. We will bring our kids here too since there’s an open area with things for kids to do and places for parents to hang out! We came up to ride the trails and there are plenty of spots to start that fun! Thank you, Thomas for being a great host! I’m sure we will be back.

Randy's spot on the Betsie River was truly perfect. It was a great, quiet place in the woods with plenty of open space for a camper, tent, and yard games. We really appreciated that the open space was grass and not sand or dirt like many camp spots end up being. Randy was incredibly helpful when a small problem came up and took the time to make sure everything was 100% perfect. We would highly recommend this space and would love to come back next year.

The sight is amazing with a large grassy area, nice fire pit, and is private. We enjoyed our stay and Randy was quick to respond to our question. We stayed in a travel trailer and it was an easy time leveling and setting up. The river is not visible from the campsite or very easy to access. However, there is a spot to fish or put in close by.

5 nights at Secluded Campsites

The main road in (12 Mile Road) was way more rugged than I had expected. That being said, the site was very remote and extremely peaceful. You can probably make it in (as others suggested, come in from the west off Hemlock) with 2WD, but I was glad I had 4WD for peace of mind. Also, the site it beautiful! The electric hookup was super convenient. The shower appeared to be hooked directly to the well water line. However, there was a heater there ready to be installed. We used my solar shower which was decently warm. There are plenty of trails on site and my dog had a blast being off leash the entire week. We did venture into Hungerford for a much longer hike. There was a super nice couple there our first night, but we had the place to ourselves the rest of the week. What a gem of a site. Would love to have a group camp there in the future.

Really nice campground - felt very rustic, but also had clean outhouses and a water pump! Site G was nice and large, but not great for hammock camping (we had to go back to the car for our backup tent because we could only hang one hammock). Sites F, H and E would have been better for hammocks. Was great for a tent though - lots of soft sand and very level area for tent, and it had a shortcut path to the outhouse through the site (which was very nice for those midnight bathroom trips!). All in all, it was a cool campground to go to. We did it to take our 5 year old daughter on her first "backpacking" trip to get her used to more rustic camping and carrying everything in. Since it was only 1 mile, it was a perfect starter trip for her!

Jack Pine Campground

Though the almost 1 mile hike to the sites was long with our poorly packed rolling cooler and backpacks, the proximity to the beach and lack of smothering by other campers was well worth it! We reserved site E, which is the most secluded and tree covered, other than the firepit that is awkwardly placed near the entrance of the site looking over on site C & D.

Jack Pine Campground

Great campsite! The mile hike in is not hard at all, but there isn't any running water once you get there, so fill up your bottles beforehand. A few hundred yards from the beach make for great sunsets and hearing the waves crash on the shore throughout the night.
