Camp under the shelter of towering ancient trees. Just off a quiet paved country road, this property is well-located yet still offers seclusion. Across the street, Manistee National Forest land features a spring-fed lake with a canoe, kayak, and rowboat launch. The Little Manistee River is within walking distance, offering first-class trout fishing and paddle sports. Nearby outdoor activities include: • North Country Trail Trailhead – 3 mi. • Manistee River Highbridge Boat Launch – 9.5 mi. • Tippy Dam Pond Boat Launch – 11 mi. • Nordhouse Dunes Lake Michigan Recreation Area – 23 mi. Listen to songbirds as you relax at the picnic table with a drink in hand. Hike, bike, paddle, and fish to your heart’s content. Amenities include a picnic table, a fire ring for cooking, a porta-potty, and provided firewood. Come enjoy our beautiful property!This site is sheltered under a canopy of huge trees. Guests will enjoy exclusive access to a secluded 2.5 acre site. There is enough room to set up a couple good sized tents or carefully pull in a small RV. Although there's room to park several vehicles, large vehicles or trailers will not be able to turn around. A picnic table and small fire ring for cooking and firewood are provided, as well as a porta-potty. A footpath winds through the cedars, perfect for a morning stroll with a cup of campfire coffee. Directly across the road is Elbow Lake Boat Access. Elbow Lake is 61 acres, spring-fed, and virtually surrounded by National Forest. The Little Manistee River is about a ten-minute walk. Free Soil Trailhead can be accessed by paved or gravel roads. In addition to a porta-potty, a privacy screen provides a place to set up an outdoor camp shower or change clothes. Amenities will be added once we get a few bookings. Work is ongoing. This is a brand-new listing and a brand-new host, so any feedback is appreciated.

Birchbark Campsite

Easy spot to get to driving; location and directions are accurate. Appreciated the heads up of minimal cell service for Verizon customers. Beautiful spot in the woods. Sandy, flat soil makes tent stakes easy to go in. Plenty of privacy from the road and nearby buildings. A little more road noise than anticipated, but not that bad. Host provided everything needed at the camp site and more: private area for showers/changing, plenty of firewood, picnic table, drinking water, extra table (very helpful!), fire pit, portapot that was exceptionally clean and fully stocked. Host was great at communicating before and during the stay. Location is convenient to all rivers, hiking, etc. in the area. Would stay here again and recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the area!

We loved the site. It was private, had nice amenities, and was easy to find. Host was great, made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

Birchbark Campsite

This site was exactly what I was looking for: private and secluded, but not totally isolated. I felt very safe here as a solo female traveler. Ideal for car camping, camper vans/small trailers. There is a clean port a potty, garbage can, fire pit and picnic table. The site has its own road that leads to it. Surrounded by national forest land and less than 30 minutes from Lake Michigan beaches. Will definitely be camping here again soon!
