Dean was an excellent host who told us about different things to do in the area and gave us a fresh loaf of bread when we first arrived. Campsite was private with plenty of space.

I went with five of my buddies to this beautiful property, and we had an awesome time. There were plenty of trees for hammocks, a nearby swimming hole, and fishing spots everywhere.
Dean is a great host. He supplied us with bikes and kayaks and pointed us to all the best hiking trails and swimming spots. We came prepared to camp, but if you don’t, the campsite already includes chairs, firewood, a fire pit, and a small axe for chopping wood. Overall, this campsite is beautiful. It’s on a large private property, very secluded, surrounded by trees, with a trail that loops around the property. I strongly recommend staying here, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Dean was an awesome host and the campsite was amazing! Upon arrival he provided us with fresh bread, gave us a great rundown of things to do nearby, and was available for anything we needed while staying there! The outhouse was very clean, he provided us with an ample amount of firewood for our stay, and our dogs were able to adventure around. Overall, highly recommend!

We had a great time at the Birchbark Campsite at Valley of the Giants Camp. Dean was a friendly and fantastic host and even made us a loaf of bread, which was delicious. The site is comfortably nestled into luscious northern Michigan forest, and had room enough to back my 10' pop-up in. It was easy to get to places like Manistee and Tippy Damn as well, and its just around the corner from Irons, MI. The bathroom was clean, and Dean made sure we had essentials like bug spray and firewood. Couldn't ask for more :)

Really enjoyed tent camping here for a night! Outhouse was clean, and Dean provided a water jug, firewood, and even fresh baked bread. As the listing mentions, there is no Verizon service at all so download directions in advance! Expectedly buggy so just come prepared for that.

Beautiful site! Dean provided us with bug spray, a lamp, plenty of water, and firewood. We were also surprised with a homemade loaf of bread! Fire pit was easy to cook on. The porta potty was very clean. We were super close to quite a few fishing spots along the Manistee river. Elbow lake across the street was gorgeous. Definitely wish we had brought kayaks.
Bird watching at the campsite was fun too! Lots of diverse birds inhabit that area. Heard/saw Loons, a variety of woodpeckers, red eyed videos, etc.
The campsite Is fairly close to other properties/homes, but that didn't bother us too much. It was petty far back from the road.

Very nice spot that was secluded but super easy to access. A big nice wooden picnic table and another table with a water jug. Small fire ring and wood provided was plenty and he even came by and cleaned out the ash from ring which was appreciated. If you do plan on camping here or even in the area be sure to have mosquito repellent especially this year with the rain.

Very nice spot just off the road but set far enough back to enjoy big trees, birds and privacy. Lots of activities nearby to check out, as well. There is no Verizon service and be sure to take lots of bug spray! Dean is a great host who provided fresh water and firewood, as well as a clean out house. We had a great stay and would definitely go back!

Dean’s campsite was great! From the personal touches of fresh flowers on the picnic table and homemade bread to the location with a quiet lake right across the street, it checked all the boxes for a great weekend camp. Dean was super helpful getting our motorhome turned around and went the extra mile, even taking down a dead tree when the historic rains made getting out a little tricky.

Easy spot to get to driving; location and directions are accurate. Appreciated the heads up of minimal cell service for Verizon customers. Beautiful spot in the woods. Sandy, flat soil makes tent stakes easy to go in. Plenty of privacy from the road and nearby buildings. A little more road noise than anticipated, but not that bad. Host provided everything needed at the camp site and more: private area for showers/changing, plenty of firewood, picnic table, drinking water, extra table (very helpful!), fire pit, portapot that was exceptionally clean and fully stocked. Host was great at communicating before and during the stay. Location is convenient to all rivers, hiking, etc. in the area. Would stay here again and recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the area!

This site was exactly what I was looking for: private and secluded, but not totally isolated. I felt very safe here as a solo female traveler.
Ideal for car camping, camper vans/small trailers. There is a clean port a potty, garbage can, fire pit and picnic table. The site has its own road that leads to it. Surrounded by national forest land and less than 30 minutes from Lake Michigan beaches. Will definitely be camping here again soon!
