At the end of a dead end paved road, so lots of privacy. Only 3 mile drive to Lake Superior. A mile the way the crow flys to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. There is only 1 site, so you have the area to yourself. Pellet grill, tables, and chairs are available for your use. It would make a great base camp for spending time in the central upper peninsula. We purchased the property 2 years ago, and put a had it cleared we just got the building done and are adding in grass and other things, so I may be around putting in some work on the property, this wouldn't be anywhere near where you would be parked. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.” In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history. Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work! Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. 40 acres well off the beaten path. Approximately 6 miles off of State Hwy M-94. A two track will lead you back to 40 acres of undeveloped land containing a variety of pine and poplar. Our private property borders State and Federal Forest land that contains an overwhelming amount of two track roads to explore Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The sky is unobstructed from trees leaving the stars to be enjoyed all night long. A section of the Stutts Creek flows through the property where you can enjoy a quiet morning listening to the water flow and the occasional rise of a brook trout feeding. Deer, Turkey, Grouse, Bears and Wolves are all found in our area and are often photographed by visitors. Please practice safe food storage due to a healthy bear population in the area. You're welcome to set up a campfire wherever you camp, please practice fire safety and adhere to state and county burn bans that may be in effect. Once you arrive you are free to set up camp wherever you want. This is primitive camping so come prepared to enjoy nature at its finest. There is no bathroom so plan accordingly. The property is less then an hour from Lake Superior and the heart of downtown Munising and about 30 minutes North of downtown Manistique. A GPS app such as OnX will help you navigate property lines and show you all the water bodies in the area you can enjoy. The road is generally fine for 2wd but 4 wheel drive is recommended when there is rain or snow in the forecast. Our property is fairly remote which will give you a unique experience. 10/10 Recommend High Swamp Campground!! My boyfriend & I love a good adventure & that’s exactly what we got. We pitched a tent on site number 5 & braved a winter storm that nobody could’ve prepared enough for. Chris was an excellent host through it all. His outstanding communication & appreciated support was the cherry on top of an incredible trip. The campground itself is private, helping us feel truly submerged in nature. We will definitely be back!!

There is a clearing in between the wooded area and the beach that has a firepit and plenty of room for a tent.

Tucked into a quiet cedar grove on the Garden Peninsula, the site offers a rare combination of off-grid tranquillity and direct access to the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The new wood-fired sauna was an absolute highlight, the perfect way to warm up after a swim! Waking up to the sound of waves, relaxing by the fire at night, and a true off-grid vibe. The fire-pit area in the trees provides a cosy, sheltered setting for an evening under the stars. There has been a lot of care put into this place. If you’re looking for a beach-camp experience that feels more intimate and upgraded (thanks to the sauna!) rather than a busy campground, this spot is highly recommended. Wow, this is an absolute gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Surf Camp. The sauna was such a perfect addition to this camp- it made our stay feel like a spa get away on Lake Michigan. The firepit and sauna are tucked back in the trees making it feel so private and cozy (and blocking the wind!) You just can’t beat the Lake Michigan beach either- we loved being able to walk out of our nook in the trees directly onto a massive beach with plenty of space to explore and hang out. Our dogs were obsessed, we were obsessed. It was perfect! 10/10 Hipcamp- we can’t wait to come back!!

1000/10 A MUST SEE. You have to be prepared for the 10.4 mile hike and if you are going late, recognize that you might be hiking in the dark!!! There was not much elevation climb. So so worth the views. We did not go to misquote falls, beach, or chapel rock because it was already late and we wanted to see the main lakeshore. COME PREPARED!

Hurricane River Campground

My site was sandwiched in between two others but we couldn't hear each other talking so it felt private enough. Spot to park, fire ring with cooking grate, and flat spot for a tent. Straight forward. Dog friendly! <3

We took the scenic boat tour to view the rocks. Make sure you time your trip when the sun is shining on the rocks We also did the kayak tour and enjoyed being up close to the rock and being on the water.

Camping Rec: Kingston Lake

We stayed in Kingston Lake (technically in the State Forest). Great location to see the park. They don't do reservations, but it was Labor Day weekend and there were plenty of spots!

We were on a private boat with friends to visit Pictured Rocks! It was absolutely breathtaking! The water is so beautiful and crystal clear! The whole lakeshore is just stunning!

Beautiful Park!!

Beautiful park… definitely recommend you rent a pontoon to fully appreciate and see the pictured rocks from the water!! Absolutely stunning! There are several waterfalls, beaches, the dunes and miles of trails! A wonderful place to visit!
