My fiance and I booked 2 nights at site 3. The cabin with Suana. What a great place Shawn has. Shawn was super accommodating and helpful, and not to mention friendly.
Plan to meet Shawn in town and he will guide you to the camp.
We made it fine in our little car, but keep in mind there is a few miles of dirt and sand road. Alot of rain could make the drive muddy.
The suana was utilized both nights. What a sweet perk!
Ive had alot of experience in suanas but never in a wood fired, home built one! That was fun!
There is a pretty lake nearby that Shawn dropped us at. He has kayaks and fishing poles available for guests.
Lots of trails nearby, a beautiful, spring fed stream on the property.
Stove available for use in the cabin which we utilized for boiling water and baking potatoes.
Definitely would recommend and we have his place earmarked for a future visit!

Wow! The view of Hogback Mountain from this cabin was amazing! This is a cozy little cabin that was a perfect getaway for us 4 friends. We enjoyed the woodstove and the sauna.

Shawn was an outstanding host and the property was gorgeous. The location was perfectly isolated yet still only a few minutes away from camping trails and other attractions. We had some bad weather roll in our second night and Shawn graciously offered us his cabin which was also amazing. We would 100% come back here again for another trip!

My boyfriend and I had an absolute blast at Shawn's Rustic camp and will be returning this winter! The cabin is cozy, private, and had more to offer than we anticipated. Water was provided, the cabin had lights, a cooking stove and a TV that ran of propane. The Outhouse was clean and only 20 feet from the cabin, and a sauna that we plan to utilize next time. Shawn himself was awesome! He shared some of the history of his 100 year old family camp, played us a nice tune on his guitar, and brought us donuts the following morning. Not only did we find our new little getaway, but we found a new friend. Couldn't recommend the location enough!

Everything was pure bliss and perfection at the campsite! Shawn had already had piles of firewood for us - and there is tons more around the site when you run out. He also provided a tripod grate for over the fire to cook anything you need. Shawn went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and had everything we needed to, as well as provided all the recommendations for best Lake Superior beaches and even smaller bodies of water near the campsite. There is a little outhouse to use for the bathroom and he even had scrabble and bean bag toss for us to play! We were able to check in earlier than the time stated and Shawn was nothing short of hospitable and the friendliest host I’ve ever encountered. Would without a doubt book this campsite every time I need accommodations in the Marquette area!

Property was gorgeous! Host is very welcoming and present. Helped find us when we were lost. More amenities than what are listed: examples propane powered features and a tv. Loved the area! Upstairs would be great for kids, and the cabin has a lot of personal touches!

We had a wonderful time camping at Site 1 on Shawn's land! Such a beautiful location with the peaceful stream and quiet forest. Shawn was an awesome host, above and beyond accommodating! I hope to come back someday!

Shawn was the BEST host ever. Stayed up late the first night to help us find the cabin, made sure we were taken care of and even got us donuts! Lol
We had the best time , and my dogs got to go up north and have their first experience made amazing. Definitely recommend this place!!!! The perfect cute old little cabin in the woods.

Shawn's land is, in my opinion, perfect. A place to get away from the people and let the sounds of nature wash over you.
The Falls site is well secluded and was perfect to let the dogs run around and explore the rocks and creek. The breeze kept most of the bugs away during our stay and the trees provided great cover for the firepit and tent area during light showers. 10/10 would recommend this spot to any camper and I hope it doesn't change, we will be back.
Did I mention you fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of soft waterfalls?!

My group had an amazing start of our trip camping at the garden site! Definitely recommend having a 4x4 vehicle to get to the site if you’re planning on driving in. Shawn was incredibly friendly and helpful and even offered a guitar to play around the fire. If I could give 10 stars I would!

I cannot stress how perfect this site was. I could have stayed here another week and still not have run out of things to do/explore without even moving our vehicle. The site is located very close to a massive trail system with some surprisingly challenging mtn bike and hiking trails. The small lake nearby is pristine and the surrounding forests were beautiful. Our dogs could have chased chipmunks forever, and we had the pleasure of falling asleep to owls and other wildlife. Our host, Shawn, was incredibly kind and accommodating and even offered use of a cabin when it was raining. He seemed to be a genuine steward of his land and added personal and thoughtful touches to each site, which we were encouraged to explore. We will definitely be back. It was everything we could have asked for in a Hipcamp, and more.

We loved camping at Possum Creek! It is a wonderful spot for exploring the area. The land is beautiful and the site is spacious, with everything you need. Shawn is very pleasant and even shared his music with us!

We had the best time ever with my family. We are from Marquette and do a staycation off grid every year and this was the best one yet! Thank you for allowing us to experience the Northwoods charm of your cabin. You can see the backside of Hogback right from the cabin! We hiked the beautiful property and then went to Little Presque beach for hours and the water was so warm! My kids played with air clay and we all played cards. We ate grilled cheese and hot dogs over the camp fire and topped it off with s'mores and stories.! Slept like a baby! In the morning the boys took the kayaks Shawn left for us out for fishing at Forestville basin while the girls packed up. Was the best day ever and we are forever thankful. We highly recommend to anyone needing to get away unplug!

Me and my family had a wonderful stay on Shawn’s land. Beautiful property with creek and lush forest. Close enough to town to experience its activities yet out in the sticks enough to feel secluded. Lots of near by attractions, land shares boarder with state park and is close to Superior beaches. Host was vey accommodating and extremely kind. He supplied a responsible amount of fire wood, was responsive and offered help where he saw fit. We were offered the cabin upon arrival because of our youngest child. We decided to accept and we really enjoyed its cozy legacy. Thank you Shawn it was a pleasure to meet you, we felt honored to share you families legacy. We all hope you take care!

Shawn’s land is beautiful and sacred! A place so beautiful, it would be easy to spend your entire trip right at the campsite! Plenty of beautiful forest to explore. This place was the perfect balance of adventurous and peaceful. Falling asleep to the sound of flowing water through the creek was nothing short of whimsical. Shawn was an amazing host, he has a great energy to him and he’s most helpful. He brought us more firewood and helped us bring stuff down to the campsite as well as back up when it was time to leave. I was so sad to pack up and leave this amazing camp spot and rejoin civilization. We can’t wait to come back next summer for an even longer stay!

Writing this review is tough because, selfishly, I'd rather keep this hidden gem all to myself. Shawn's property is a treasure trove of natural beauty, but it's not for the faint-hearted. The hike in is no walk in the park—think of it as a mini backpacking adventure. We hauled in loads of gear, but next time, we're packing light because the trail down to the creek is steep and bumpy, making any kind of wagon useless.
The landscape is a lush tapestry of ferns, thick moss, tall pines, and birches. The soothing sounds of the creek and mini waterfalls will lull you to sleep, interrupted only by the occasional forest critter. There’s no running water, so prepare to embrace your wild side when nature calls. And don't expect to make a quick escape to your car if the weather turns—the hike back out is equally challenging.
But the scenery? It's like stepping into a picture-perfect AI-generated forest. Seriously, it's that stunning. And Shawn is a fantastic host. I came with my partner, but as a woman, I’d feel completely safe camping here solo.

Shawn made our stay so memorable and fun! We loved the property - beautiful views and a great location. Shawn generously let us stay in the main cabin due to the weather and we really enjoyed it! A very nice and rustic place to relax and unwind. We hiked to Hogback mountain directly from the property, which was beautiful and convenient! The entire property is well-maintained and has gorgeous and spacious tent sites. The stream on the property is very pretty and fun to hike along. There was tons of firewood available which made having campfires so convenient! Shawn provides top tier service and is one of the most kind people we have met. He is sure to make your stay a great time for you! We could not recommend staying here enough.

Had a great time at Site 2, very rugged and secluded which is what we were looking for. Great for Boondockers, Overlanding, small teardrop-type campers. I wouldn't drive a car to it, maybe a Subaru and AWD at a minimum, just in case. Shawn was great. Very friendly and helpful, you can tell he wants guests to have a memorable and safe time.
*Site 1 is beautiful and picturesque if you're the hike-in type camper. Probably one of the best "forget the world and unplug" sites I've seen.*

We had the most wonderful time here! The camp is beautiful, and Shawn is such a kind and generous person. His love for this camp and the land is tangible, and by the end we felt the same. We fished at Harlow lake, visited Marquette, Pictured Rocks, and the nearby beaches. We'll definitely stay here again on our next trip to the U.P.

My friends and I had a fantastic time at Possum Creek. The property is lovely and Shawn puts a lot of care into ensuring that campers have a great stay. We had plenty of space for the 4 of us and our two dogs to stretch out and loved the quiet of the woods, even though the property isn’t terribly far from downtown. Shawn provided wood for us and is a great guy!
