The Kissimmee Prairie State Park is very close by. The prairie is the darkest part of Florida. Astronomers, bring your telescopes and cameras to capture the night. You will possibly see cows, bobcats, wild turkeys, wild pigs, armadillos, birds, or the neighbors dogs might show up. Don’t worry, they are quite friendly. We have a 50 amp RV Hookup with NO septic and plenty of space for primitive camping. Bring your horse, but there is no paddock or barn. The storage building on the premises is not part of the rental, please leave it alone. There is electricity and non-potable water. The water is safe for teeth brushing, washing dishes, and showering, but it does have a very strong smell of sulfur. There is an outhouse. Please use it sparingly & only flush toilet paper provided. There is an outside sink, an outside shower with no privacy, a picnic table and a fire pit. If you come with your RV, please use your RV toilet. There will be a major fine for any septic dumping. 1/3 of the land is cleared and 2/3 is full of mature oak trees and trails. It is fenced with barbed wire fencing. Please keep your food trash in your cars & take it with you. You do not want to attract predators. You can recycle, or throw away any trash that is not related to food in the garbage can. Keep an eye on your small dogs. There are also snakes and predatory birds. It is hard with words to describe the beauty of this property, so please check out the pictures. Happy Camping!

It's perfect for that, or for visiting nearby Legoland/Cypress Gardens, and close enough to the wonderful downtown area to ride my bike. Nice view of the little marina, and mere blocks away from a Publix and some fast-food chains. The site feels safe in a nice neighborhood, has full hookups, and a responsive host. As another reviewer mentioned, these sites do back up to a modestly-busy road behind the privacy fence, unfortunately right next to a stop sign, making any vehicle with a noisy motor especially loud as they accelerate from a stop. However, inside my camper I couldn't hear it much, at least not over the sound of my own A/C unit, and it certainly didn't affect my sleep. Only other "cons" to these sites are that there are no picnic tables or fire rings onsite, and no campfires allowed. Note that the oak tree in Site #1 covers that site and Site #2, and the shade really helps under the hot sun. However, if you want to deploy a Starlink for internet, you probably want Site #3 (I used cellular in Site #2, though, and had strong signal on both AT&T and Verizon networks).

Wonderful place! No playground, but still soooo much for the kids to do! Swimming pool, fishing, perfect for riding bikes, riding scooters, passing the football, enjoying nature, just being outside! 10/10 recommend and bring a golf cart if you have one (they are also available to rent). The Cowboy Cajun food truck (DELICIOUS) and camp store were wonderful! They had a raffle for a local girls softball team going on at the pavilion too! We will definitely be back and will tell everyone about Camp Mack!

We loved this camp. The RVport was perfect. The cover provided great shade and we had our own little sitting area. It looked out over the garden area. The pool was a nice size and there was an umbrella shading part of it. The whole area is beautifully landscaped and there are plenty of tables and chairs for sitting. Not to mention the fountain and fire pit areas. Our dogs loved being able to roam off leash as well as having our own area in the RVport. We enjoyed happy hour with Jaime and Bolton and the neighbors. They are thoughtful hosts. We can't wait to return!

There was plenty of space for us to set up camp and spread out. We ended up choosing a more secluded piece of the land nearby the fence where the neighbors horses and cows paid us some visits. The directions were a bit confusing but once we found it, it all made sense. Would definitely stay here again!

AMAZING!!! I can't say enough honestly. Our family goes to Orlando a couple times a year and have always stayed at the bigger campgrounds, Fort Wilderness, Margaritaville, etc. This was the most quiet, peaceful place we have ever stayed in Orlando. The people that are there we so nice and polite, and it didn't even seem like we were in the city at all. The site set up is awesome and the hot tub was my kids highlight lol. I will return over and over. The convenience of the location is near perfect to everything. Ginger was superb, and helpful with recommendations nearby as it was my wife's birthday. We can't thank you enough. Bottom line, AMAZING!!!!

Matthew was great. It is a little tight getting into the spot but wonderful when you get there. I used the provided sewer hose which was the easiest hookup ever. My 25' water hose was not quite long enough but I could have moved my camper to make it work. Instead I went to a nearby store for an extension. This quiet campsite at the beautiful lake is close to shopping for anything you might need for supplies. It's the best of both worlds.

You don’t have to go out west to get the dude ranch experience—at Lake Kissimmee State Park, the Cow Camp is a reproduction of a late 1800s outpost of Florida’s cow hunters complete with live reenactors and resident cows. Aside from this highlight, Lake Kissimmee State Park also features 13 miles of trails that wind around freshwater marshes and through forests of pine and oak, including some trails with equestrian access. You can paddle, boat, and fish on the park’s three lakes, and at night, the big open sky of Florida’s cow country makes for some amazing stargazing at the primary Lake Kissimmee Campground.

Notable campgrounds

Best for classic camping: Lake Kissimmee Campground’s 60 campsites have everything you need, including water and electric hookups.
Best for glamping: Also within the park is a set of luxury cowboy-themed glamping tents bookable on Hipcamp.
Best for backpackers: Lake Kissimmee features two primitive backcountry campgrounds where all supplies (including water) must be packed in.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Reservations for Lake Kissimmee State Park’s primary campground can be made online or by calling (800) 326-3521. Florida residents can make campsite reservations 11 months in advance, while non-residents can make reservations 10 months in advance.
To reserve the primitive, hike-in backcountry campsites, call the park ranger station at (863) 696-1112.

When to go

Autumn, winter, and spring are all great times of year for Lake Kissimmee camping with mild weather. Although the park’s Central Florida location isn’t quite as hot and humid as Southern Florida, summers can still be sweltering. Summertime campers may be most comfortable in a setup with a fan or air conditioning.

Know before you go

The camp store is open from November to April. In addition to selling firewood, snacks, and camping supplies, kayak and canoe rentals are available for exploring the lakes or trying out the 10-mile Buster Island Paddling Trail.
Lake Kissimmee State Park is renowned for its clear skies, but the nearby Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is a designated International Dark Sky Park, with some of the best stargazing conditions in the country.
Although the park’s equestrian trails are BYOH (bring your own horse), the nearby Kissimmee, Lakeland, and Orlando areas have multiple ranches offering guided horseback rides.
