The place worked in a pinch. We were bicycle touring and needed a place for the night, so it was a last minute booking. I tried calling the host's number given on the website 3 times before booking on the site to ask some questions. Each time it went to VM and said we were unable to leave a message, "the mailbox is full." When we arrived, the host greeted us. He was friendly/welcoming to us. He made a comment about us arriving on bikes. He stated, he worried we be the type "who might have forgotten to pay their months rent". He commented on our expensive bikes/gear and was relieved. If you're a nomadic minimalist/ bohemian type you might not be welcome there. The place did not reflect the pics on hipcamp. In fairness the vegetation was hit hard during the Feb winter freeze so no fault to the hosts. Also, the site we booked was not the site we were put in. Because of the late booking, the host said he didnt have time to prepare the booked site. That wasn't a problem at all for us, we just wanted a place to lay. Some guests might have been disappointed. The write-up is clear about there being no potable water, but there is a outdoor port-a-potty shared by guests and lots of plants/garden areas with water hoses/spigots. Pretty sure the water is potable, but perhaps they had a bad experience with people washing dishes or clothes. Idk, but there really should be a way to wash your hands after using the restroom, even if it isnt "potable". Not even hand sanitizer was available.
