Site 3 - Independence Way
Mima's beautiful campsite was nice, clean and had lots of amenities. The cookware, propane stove and dish washing station were much appreciated. I wish we took advantage of the hot shower, but we weren't there for very long. Oh, and a big thumbs up for the clean porta-pottie! The host was very nice and showed us everything when we got there.
You do have to go elsewhere to go hiking, but that's understandable seeing as this area is all private land.
The only other downside was, there's a big conference retreat not too far away that was having a large rally of some sort, with amplified sound and a roaring audience. They did end right around 10 pm, but I felt a little bad for trying to keep my kids from being too noisy and bugging the neighbors earlier when there was a noise like that going from around 8:30-10pm.

Best Campsite Experience
One of the best camping experiences of my life to date! Mima was so helpful in providing directions to the site as well as local recommendations and tips for camping on the property. My partner and I stayed in the cabin and it was so clean, accessible, and still felt like a part of the campground area. We were happy to note a friendly rooster trotting about our feet one morning. The communal cooking area made meals easy, with a gas stove, a sink, a dartboard, beautiful lights, and mosquito-repelling candles in the evenings. Perhaps most magical about this land are the giant trees that make their home here. Waking up and falling asleep beneath them made me feel so connected to Earth and rejuvenated after the weekend away. Highly recommend and will absolutely be returning in the future!

Redwood Retreat
We loved camping at the “Redwood Retreat”. The campsite was so clean and well maintained and the amenities were such a nice addition (fridge, outdoor shower, outdoor common area with bbqs, darts and dish washing sink). The tent cabin was so cute and comfortable. My son fell in love with Mima’s chickens. And Mima made us an incredible meal and a surprise dessert. I would 100% recommend and visit again!
It was a quick 30 minute drive to Santa Cruz, Moss Landing and Monterey.

The Humble Cottage
Cottage not secluded at all.
It was not what I expected and I was not able to achieve what I went there for. From the pictures and description I was expecting more seclusion. Needless to say, you are literally in their backyard. The driveway and house are only about 15 yards away. You feel like a part of the household with the comings and goings. Also, the road is very close so you hear the local traffic. (it is up in the woods, so not a lot of traffic but enough to be a distraction). Although I do love animals, the cat was a little assertive and demanding of attention, and the chickens were around pecking at whatever they can find. I wasn't expecting the common area to be so close. Fortunately, I was the only one camping so it wasn't an issue. Lots of mosquitoes. The cottage itself was very quaint. The bed comfortable. My only issue with the cottage was the second night I had a friendly bat that I could not get out. It was midnight and didn't want to wake up the hosts so I ended up leaving at about 1 AM.
The food was delicious!! Both hosts were friendly and attentive to any needs!
