Best in California: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2024.
Private 35 acre Private Land Restoration Project surrounded by rolling hills, mountain views and open sky. The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular year round. Stars and open skies that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else in southern California. Just 15 minutes from Temecula wineries, 40 minutes from the alpine, artsy town of Idyllwild in the San Jacinto Mountains, and just 15 minutes from the 215 in Menifee toward Hemet. Best to visit from early autumn to lush springtime where we have great wildflower blooms. Cooperative managers Jim and Dawn host visitors who want to enjoy nature, participate in regenerative gardening all while off-setting their travel footprint. Fees go to our not for profit land restoration which includes planting trees, improving aquifers and enriching the soil. The property is a owned by a restorative co-op (turning a former illegal dump into an oasis of hope) where we invite you to participate in creative local solutions to our larger global problems. * If your group is larger than six adults, pease visit our group listings page. If your group needs special privacy and sound requirements and you'd like to reserve the entirer property, you will need to contact us directly. * Spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis. * Our visitor support pricing is $20 for the first person and $15 for all additional adults. Kids 6 - 12 are $5 per night. We don't want to charge for kids 6 and under, so do not include them in your booking. Thanks! * Campfire rings are only in common clearing, designated and permitted areas. Please check for seasonal fire restrictions.

Jim & Hemet magic
Space was immaculate and fun, while Jim was the best host we could ask for. We ended up setting up shop right under the main tree at the closest camp site to the bathrooms and kitchen. It was a magical experience…we got to share stories with Jim once we arrived, walked around the land and decompressed from life in the city, then spent an incredible, rejuvenating night under the stars.

Thanks Jim!
Jim and his property were awesome! He was super nice and checked in on us. The place was beautiful and there were a lot of different things to do like disc golf, archery, ax throwing, cornhole, and a lot of hiking. They also have some cute farm animals and are super pet friendly. The compost toilets were so clean and well maintained that we didn't even end up needing to use the flush toilets. We will be returning for sure.

Warped
It was very simple and in a way, it had a futuristic worldview. I felt very relaxed and the animals were soothing. Sleeping under a big tree felt like I was warped to another dimension. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Livin w/the land, a great experienc
Loved camping here! I was their very last camper of the season. I had booked way in advance and as we all know... we can't predict the weather in July out here in Los Angeles. SO it was a VERY hot weekend BUT I prevailed. And not without the amazing community of the Ecoshire group. Jim and Dawn were so kind and I instantly felt like one of their family members. Those that were also on the campground were great company and it made the trip even better. I highly recommend this place as there is a lot to explore; hillsides, hiking; a huge hanger filled with games, painting, arts n crafts and even musical instruments. Due to it being in the outdoors you will get your fair share of ants, flies, jack rabbits, crows, and spiders. Not so many mosquitoes! They strive to giving back to the earth, so take care of your campsite and pick up your trash (they have receptacles on site) as well as a huge kitchen for use if needed and a shower/toilet. Would definitely come back (but in the fall or early spring time to beat the heat).

Inspired
This is an amazing and eclectic little campground. Jim and his crew are perfect hosts and very accommodating. I LOVED my campsite and felt very secure there, even when I could hear coyotes in the distance. I was at the end of my first week of a three week spiritual quest journey and this campsite fit right in and gave me a place for solace and meditation! The land will definitely speak to you here if you take the time to listen. So will Jim! It is truly inspiring what one can do when reclaiming a trash heap and turning it into a true shire; HOME!
