The Soup is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine.
The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent.

Historic Brice Station 100 acres, was a horse stop on the Ebbetts Pass stage line. Horses were fed, watered and swapped here, over 100 years ago. Today, Brice station hosts a ceramics gallery and school, vineyard and tasting room, Blacksmith school, Concert series, Shakespeare performances and Master artist, Michel Olson's, Sierra Circles Sculpture Garden and campground. Born in Berlin, Germany, he has spent much of his life performing, guiding, studying, while travelling and becoming an accomplished artist in wood, stone and iron. Two of his gypsy rigs and several large art installations, are in the meadow next to the forested 6 site campground.

Aimed at providing a comfortable, convenient and safe facility for tourists to spend the night and refresh, Scottie's Motofarm boasts multiple lush green lawns for tent camping, many shade trees, clean and civilized indoor toilet facilities with a locking door, free wifi, a private walk-in shower/changing room large enough for two people with a locking door, outlets for phone charging, laundry washing machine (no dryer) and kitchen food prep area with fridge. We are conveniently located on Route 4 so campers should expect some noise, however the road quiets down around at night and -- except for the occasional loud vehicle -- it gets pretty serene here during the star gazing hours! The tent camping area is fenced and we have not had any bears on the property, but we do have a few shy farm cats and the occasional racoon. For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road. Our grassy lawn tent area is inaccessible to vehicles and RVs. Our parking area is adjacent to the highway and may not be what rooftop and van/rv campers are expecting in terms of a peaceful camping experience. If you have tent, it’s recommended to camp out on the lawn. We have tents for rent if you need one.

Or you can can always just relax with a view in the cabin.

Our classic 1970s A-frame cabin offers a simple space of retreat with lovely light, view of the trees and uncluttered decor. Great for couples and also solo travelers! Please note there is a 2 night minimum on weekends (if overlaps with a Fri or Sat) and a 3 night minimum for holiday weekends.
We're well-located for a weekend getaway (~2.5 hours from the East Bay and ~3 hours from SF) and as a base for your adventures in the Sierras. There's lots to explore nearby with Big Trees State Park and Stanislaus National Forest within minutes, lakes, skiing, mountain towns and wine-tasting, or just relax at the cabin and take in the view.

We do our best here to strike a balance between simple amenities and comfort. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway.
There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. We have loads of board games and puzzles.
The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper. Help yourself to organic coffee and tea!
The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone.
The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom.
We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months.
The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels! Guests will need to take their garbage and recycling with them to the local refuse center which is on the way out.

Stayed in the school bus and it was pretty neat. The temperature cooled at night and I slept comfortably. I liked the farm dogs who were eager to retrieve the tennis balls. Nice family. Location is a drivable 10 minutes to Murphys and the Big Trees State park was a close drive too.

Give Terry (& Whisky 🐶) their flowers!!! 💐 This was an AMAZING experience - even with some summer heat. The site was as described and coming from campsites with zero amenities, having per-site water hookup was such a game changer! (I would not drink from it tho...its more for 'camp cleaning' 😂)
Terry was amazing, accommodating, friendly, and super helpful. We have a AWD/Tesla Model 3 and for site 1 it was a littttle tricky because of the clearance, but Terry was kind enough to fill in some spots along the path with gravel before we left 😭.
Other lil tidbits:
- The river was *chefs kiss* - very easily accessible
- bathrooms were a little far but very clean
- the newly built awning structure was amazing, but definitely bring another tarp/awning for sundown (which Terry mentioned beforehand so we came prepared!)
- definitely hose down the dirt area with water (as per Terry!) because when other cars drive past Site #1 to their sites downward, the dust is a bit much
- definitely need at least AWD and the more clearance your car has the better!
I wish we got to chat more with Terry and maybe do one of their excursions but we brought our dog so we isolated ourselves a bit.

16 ft pop-up camper

Terry was so kind to share his property with all of us campers. This was our first time using HipCamp and Terry has set the benchmark very high!
He greeted us and then escorted us to our site. We booked site 4 with a 16 foot camper. Terry recommended we back it in. It could be a bit challenging but so worth it. The view was amazing. It’s everything you ever want in a campsite. There was a portable toilet a min away and it was cleaner than most public restrooms we have ever used.
The water access spot is accessed by going down a number of concrete steps and then we are greeted by this beautiful stream with lots of small fish. As you walk across, you can see them swimming around in the water. We planted our camping chairs in the water and relaxed for all of Saturday. We couldn’t have been happier.
On the way home, our kids were already asking when could we come back. And best of all, Terry has an awesome lab named “Whisky”, and our kids are now asking if we could have a Whisky at home too. Thank you so much for having us Terry and allowing us to create great family memories.

Weekend Trip to Creekside Camping on Love Creek
This is such a beautiful place. So serene and tranquil. Felt very private even though other campers were there. Site 3 felt most private and I love how close to the creek it is. The bear locker location is far from camp and it requires a good walk. Keep that in mind with food and snacks and such. The bathroom was pristine and one the cleanest I used. Cooking outside was amazing. Just bring all your needed items and you’re good to go. Absolutely loved my stay. It got in the tent though and I forgot my portable fan, so make sure to bring one for summer months!

What a find! Sites 1,2 a staircase away from a beautiful river. Definitely bring your watet shoes! We walked up and down the river and every time found something new and interesting to see! Site 3 is a short hike down the road to the river, manageable, but may be challenging for some. Definitely have a 4wd (all terain tires suggested), so you can just drive and park at the river from any of the other sites. Campsites have a good bit of separation from the others, and at night it felt like we were all alone! Awesome amenities made the stay comfortable. The host is amazing, knowledgeable, present, but not overbearing. And if it gets too hot mid day, hop in the air conditioned car and go explore the area around the camp. There are some pretty cool points of interest near by. We stayed 3 nights and loved every minute. We will be back soon!

After a last minute change of plans, I found this spot to take my family camping, and we absolutely loved it! The river is gorgeous, and there are perfect calm swimming holes for playing and fishing. Amazing stars and well-kept sites. Would for sure recommend!

Amazing place to camp! Site 3 is close to the river, great for kids, and gets a great mix of sun and shade. It's enough shade to keep cool, and enough sun to dry swim gear and sun bathe. The whole camp site was cute and clean. We felt safe and loved how responsive and communicative Noleen was. We love our crystals that we bought from them, and buying firewood at a camlsite was a camping game changer! Their dog was super friendly too! We would definitely camp here again!

This is a fabulous place with great water access. Bring your floaties! We were there in July and the water was perfect. Camp site #5 had plenty of shade and was very comfortable. Know that the two toilets are a bit of a hike uphill from the river front sites. We'd go back.

This is one of my favorite hipcamps. I especially like it when I’m by myself, but don’t we all. I have stayed at several sites, my favorite is 7 but for more privacy I like 3.
I love the consumes river, it’s clean, and beautiful and great to float and swim in.
Such a nice camping get away. I hope to make it back again this year.

It is a wonderful campsite with plenty to do. You can fish, hunt for crawfish, gold pan, explore gold mine, etc... Terry is awesome with lots of activities&history info and extremely welcoming. We will return to campsite 1 or 2 in the future.
General info....
You must have a awd/4x4 to get down to the parking area by campsite 1&2 for easy access to the river, shower, toilet and wash bin. You can walk from your campsite but it will be tiring depending on your fitness level. From campsite 3 it would take 2-3 mins down (fairly easy unless you have bad knees) to the stairway and another 1-2 mins to the river. The stairway is well built and looks new. We did not pass by the other campsites but I assume they aren't far away.
Shower was cold but you get use to it. There is no door to the shower but it is enclosed enough to give privacy. Porta potty are cleaned every Wednesday. We have our own personal toilet so I can't tell you if the porta potties are good or bad. However, Terry takes really good care of the campsites so I assume they are clean for porta potties.
Yes, I recommend Strange Ranch.

Great spot - far enough outside Murphy’s to make you feel like you’re away from it all; close enough to give you daytime options to explore. Bus was fab! Campsite fire at night was a great chance to chat with WWOOF’ers staying on the farm. Farm dogs were a delight! Thank you for opening your space up to us.

Aaron’s camp was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet, beautiful sunset views, and a great host. He was very accommodating and we really enjoyed his wine and cider that he makes. We stayed in the single tent campsite and it worked out perfectly for us. Right up the stairs from where you can enjoy tastings of good wine and cider. You’ll have a great time if you stay here!

We loved our cabin stay and restorative time at the river! The cabin stayed nicely cool for the first half of the day. We brought an extra tent with us for the included tent site, and it was a nice retreat in the later afternoon. Noleen was friendly and helpful. We'd love to return one day! Thank you!

We loved camping out here, it was peaceful and serene. Firepit and picnic table provided. Clean flushing toilets at the winery, a min walk away. We had the wine tasting & it was amazing, we bought a couple bottles to enjoy post-tasting. There's also a plot of green grass with tree coverage, a small creek, and 3 picnic tables between the campsites and the winery for separation, it was a lifesaver during the hot July weather. The hosts and staff were friendly and easy to talk to. Good company, good conversations, and good wine. We will definitely be back!

Excellent site. Scott was so helpful. The site has many amenities including badminton, basketball, tetherball, a swimming hole, etc. The kitchen area had many options for cooking, so you don’t really need to bring a stove etc.
The area was beautiful. A hidden away gem.
4-wheel drive is necessary to get to the site, but worth it.
We will be visiting this site again.

Rachael's whole setup at Consumnes River Ranch was amazing! It was exactly as described if not better. We had Site 15 and a few other families we knew had Sites 16 & 17 which was the perfect group camping situation. The spots to swim at the river were great. Would definitely recommend!
