A dreamy spot in the foothills
This place is a dream! If you love roughing it, tent camping, rustic/primitive camping, you’ll love this spot! We wanted to get away and but we are usually tent campers and since it’s early spring and still cold at night - a yurt with a wood stove was a nice compromise for us. The yurt is not insulated (& no electricity) it’s a tent that you can stand up in and even stretch out (yoga? Board games at the table? Relax on the couch with a book in front of the wood stove?). It has a nice fire pit with a grill rack if you’re like us and you’d rather cook on it than set up the charcoal grill or the propane cooker they have in the yurt (you have to set it up outside if you use it). They also have a camp stove that uses the little propane bottles, it also should only be used outside. Mike and Audrey have this place well stocked! It is stocked with everything, blankets, chairs for outside in addition to the furniture inside . . . AND it was so clean inside and out. This yurt has been well loved and used but kept up too. If you’re a light sleeper you’ll want to bring ear plugs because it is on a cow pasture so you’ll hear mooing as well as frogs, ducks, coyotes, geese, lots of birds, , , we also heard an owl at night - so cool. When the fire in the wood stove dies out it gets pretty cold but they had flannel sheets on the main bed so we stayed warm as we slept. It heated up in the day but there are windows for ventilation. There’s water yay. One bed is queen and the other is a double.
