This special area is surrounded by the Tonto National forest on the north & east, the McDowell Mountain park on the south, Fraisfield Preserve on the west. Several mountain trails nearby, of varied challenge. It is home to 360' awesome mountain views (sometimes purple, golden, or pink too), scenic desert vistas, and the best sunrises, sunsets, and starry nights in the world! Cactus Rose Ranch RV Hideaway
The Cactus Rose Ranch is a beautiful and peaceful property in lovely North Scottsdale. Our stay was very enjoyable and the sunsets were spectacular. Sally met us promptly and showed us the sites to choose from. Our site was nice and the amenities of electric/water/sewer were great. We would definitely come stay here again if we visit the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

The road you choose
JUST A HEADS-UP GPS took me back N 156th St off of E Rio Verde Dr. It is a dirt road going directly to E Montgomery Rd where the camp site is located. The first part of 156th St is extremely hard on a camper. It is covered in potholes and deep valleys to go through. The better way we found after a couple of days is to use N 152nd St instead. This road will intersect with E Dixileta Dr which will take you over to N 156th St. However, this intersection is after the very difficult section of N 156th St. It is still dirt but much easier on a suspension. The camp itself was fine for a few nights stay. It is out in the desert but still close to Cave Creek and Scottsdale. When we found the new and better path it was great for visits to those towns for what they have to offer. The hookups are in good working order and thy have a laundry on site. The area is being built up a little and the animal are no longer there. But it is still a good value if you want to camp in the desert.

Not for us
My sentiments are similar to some other reviewers. The property is nice. It is at the end of a neighborhood but has nice trees. When we arrived we were offered one of two spots. The first spot would have been right next to the wash house where people were in and out doing laundry. Both spots were quite small and either squeezed between the wash house and a fence or in between other trailers. It was also apparent that most of the other spots were occupied by long term residents. Some people seem to like this spot but it just wasn’t for us. We ended up not staying there at all and modified our trip for only 1 night. Sally was easy enough to work with to get refunded the remaining nights.
