Welcome to Karla's Hummingbird Guest Ranch! All guests must be over the age of 18. My private horse property is located in the Sky Islands area of South Eastern Arizona. I have 2 horses and lots of local birds hang out here. I offer 2 full hook-up spaces, one space is covered. Power is 50 AMPS! An RV must be under 12' to fit under the cover. I offer 4 dry camping options. You can book the Tent Cabana-The Shady Rest- listing or you can dry camp by booking through my Tent and Vehicle Camping listing. There are no exact designated spaces for tent/vehicle camping. You can choose where you prefer to camp. I also have the Pool House, an indoor option with a power outlet, and it's close to the pool and restroom area. There is a restroom/breakfast room off the pool area. This is my private property, you and your gear are safe and secure. You can leave your campsite and go exploring, no one will bother your stuff. I have WiFi and great cell service here. You must arrive by dark. My gates will be closed at dark. I am located just over an hour away from Tucson and 25 minutes off the 10. My place is 10 minutes from Coronado National Forest. The property is tranquil, peaceful, and quiet. You will see a lot of quail and other birds on the property. There are 2 varieties of quail who visit daily. Dry campers- Off the pool area there is a clean restroom in my back garage and a sink with hot water. There is a clean refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker available for your use. Each tent, and/or a place where people sleep is a campsite....in other words you can't book 1 tent camping site and then add your friends who come in their vehicle and set up a campsite. That is 2 campsites. NOTE- The only bad review I have is from someone who booked one campsite then had her friends come during the night and take another site. I had the nerve to ask them to pay for that extra site. (they refused). My photos-At the end of my gallery are photos of "PROJECTS", things I've made. This is for the "PROJECTS" extra I offer because I can't add those photos there.

We looked at each other as we walked around looking at the stunning Mtn. Views and the mesquite fence and knew we were finally "home." I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa. When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be. So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

Camp Saguaro is nestled in a unique and rural area on the west side of Tucson, Arizona. With the Saguaro National Park Visitor Center, Tucson Mountain Park, and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum all within four miles, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the outdoors. Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails, and non-motorized mountain bikes are permitted on the trails in Tucson Mountain Park. Let us be your base camp for desert exploration whether it's hiking, riding, birdwatching, and learning. Come to Camp Saguaro and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert. Our friendly hosts can help you plan a great day, some of them even have their Certified Tourism Amabssador credentials. Please note: We are tobacco-free, medicinal herbs are legal and ok as long as children are not around. What to expect: We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote. We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible. We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. Angel's Summerhaven Retreat

The main camping area is a flat area on the mountainside East of Summerhaven, with a steep approach (be prepared!). The view from the area is great, and the area has some pines, as do the neighboring properties. Turkey cross the property seasonally, as well as the occasional deer. This is a leave no trace site. The site is current undergoing enchancements, so there will be evidence of demolished boulders, landscaping, and fencing. The site is safe to traverse, but care should be taken to avoid rock and uneven terrain, fence posts, and so on. Usage of the site is at your own risk. Toilet and waste: A bucket toilet is provided, with composting bags. Toilet waste, as well as other waste, must be taken with you, when you leave; there is no trash service. There are sometimes dumpsters in town that can be used to dispose of waste. The bucket toilet consists of a bucket, bucket seat, funnel, and hose. The consumables are composting toilet bags, wood shavings/chips, and toilet paper. You do not need to use the funnel and hose, but may if you wish. At a minimum, place the bag into the bucket, with the bag edge over the edge of the bucket, and place the bucket seat onto the bucket. The bucket seat should firmly fit onto the bucket, and retain the bag. When your stay is complete, please make sure the seat and bucket are clean, as well as the funnel and hose, if you used them. Please make sure all supplies are returned to the Toilet Supplies container. Directions: The address is 12672 N Ray Ave. Make your way to the intersection of N Sabino Canyon Parkway and Retreat Rd. in Summerhaven, AZ. Head east up the steep Retreat Rd., and make the right onto Tucson Ave., followed by a quick left onto what Google says is Ray Ave. Make an immediate right onto N. Ray Ave, and follow the dirt road until a steep driveway on the left appears. This driveway (and the other entrance 100 ft further on) provide access to the land. If trying to park off the driveway, enter the first driveway entrance to drive forward onto the approach and park, or enter the second driveway and then back onto the approach and park. Once parked (See Parking for additional instructions), access the land from the driveway according to the images. Parking: WARNING: Do not park on the driveway itself. There is a half-moon driveway that provides a way to either drive forward or backward onto the approach. Park on the (1) dirt approach to the land, just off the steep driveway, or (2) on the half moon parking spot at the top of the driveway, or (3) at the bottom on Ray Ave, out of the way. If any vehicles are blocking vehicular access to the dirt approach to the land, please contact me. Recreation: The shops of Summerhaven are close. Marshall Gulch is a popular recreation area on the Arizona Trail, South of Summerhaven. There is also a lot of opportunity to hike and rock climb on the area. The area is not very suitable for RVs; it is not possible to bring an RV onto the property.

The ranch lies in the center of Avra Valley, Arizona on historic farm and ranch land which has gradually been managed to return to its natural state of mesquites, ironwoods, cacti, and natural grasses. Remember the term sky island. Here in southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico, mountains seemingly come out of nowhere to dominate an otherwise flat landscape. Discover the five distinct areas of this national forest, all of which have their own sky islands.

Start your wanderings at Sabino Canyon. Steep rock cliffs and unique desert vegetation follow Sabino Creek, which maintains water year-round. Keep a sharp eye out for desert wildlife adapted for high heat and low humidity. Gila monsters may sun themselves on rocks, while bobcats sip from the creek's water.

Discover Miller Peak, the highest peak in the Huachuca Mountains. Wilderness surrounding the area comprises vertical cliffs and deep canyons. Follow an 11.5-mile, moderately hard trail to the top of the mountain. The mountain rises 3,500 feet above the countryside.

Campgrounds abound here. Choose year-round campsites from 3,000 feet to 9,000 feet above sea level.

9-21-2019, We went to check out Spencer Canyon campground and rented a spot for day use. Nice area with fresh air amidst ponderosa pines. Plenty of spaces (60). First come, first served. Several well kept and pleasant smelling vault toilets with fresh paint and no graffiti. All campsites have iron fire pit, grill, stone table and steel food box to protect food from bears. Fees: Bring cash and no change is available. Fill out envelope, insert cash, keep stub, and drop envelope in slot Overnight camping is $24.00, Single vehicle day use is $10.00 Firewood bundle for $6.00

Tucked in the forest with access to the Arizona Trail, this spot was cozy and scenic. Small campground and fills up quickly year round. Fun drive up Mt. Lemmon, just above Molina Basin campground so a bit colder at nighttime and upon rising as the sun as more mountain to rise over. Quiet, serene, full of wildlife. Facilities always stocked with TP and clean. Met some neat people during our stay here!

Small, isolated campground that fills up quickly even in winter. Summer is the busiest because of Pena Blanca Lake. Great hiking and water sport activities in the area. Only spent one night here, but the facilities were clean and stocked. Beautiful sites and scenery!

Love the drive here! Shout out to Ranger Rick for the good company and tips on the area. You follow the road as far as it will go until you dead-end at this campground. Not far from Mexico, be prpeared for random border patrol stops or drones obstructing the beautiful mountain views. Just one trail goes around the lake. It’s very easy but enjoyable and scenic. Staff at the dock are as kind as can be. Took a kayak out on the serene lake and enjoyed watching the bird species overhead. Free firewood was offered after they trimmed trees. Firewood is also available at the store by the dock. Lots of items there in case you forgot important items. Cold winter nights but beautiful sunrises and sunsets and warm days!

I love Bog Springs Campground! Gorgeous drive to the secluded area. Bery hard to get a spot here, so be sure to plan as you may make the long drive only to have to make other arrangements. The place was packed in February! I can’t believe we were lucky enough to get the last spot available. Tucked away in the forest, this place is a gem!

Molino Campground

I loved my weeklong stay here! Started here and moved up Mt. Lemmon Rd to the other campgrounds. The sites are scenic and spacious. The wildlife that inhabits the area will keep your attention with their beauty and intrigue. Hard to get a soot here year round. Cold mountain winter nights could not keep us away. Arizona Trail runs through the area, and lots of other hiking trails are off the main road. Met so many wonderful locals and out-of-towners during our stay. Great drive up the mountain!

Herb Martyr Campground

The CCC era drainage/waterfall on Cave Creek is beautufu, and right near the parking area. Careful, immigration happens in the Chiricahuas. We encountered probable drug mule scouts with their two way radios chirping one night.

Stewart Campground

There were only 6 sites at this canyon campground on the babbling Cave Creek, but for that reason it felt exclusive, an unexpected and delightful discovery. Ideal for tents, maybe not so much for big RVs. First come, first served -- March and April are the busy season, so an end-of-April visit was perfect, and even a 6-site location was only half full. Highly recommend this and nearby Idlewild and Sunny Flat Campgrounds.

For beginner campers, this is prime real estate. Campsites are pretty close together and there are restrooms nearby. BBQ grills surround each campsite and if you're lucky, so are friendly, fellow campers. There is great shade coverage on hot days and the wind gusting through will cool off anyone.

Sunny Flat Campground

Beautiful off-the-grid spot! We loved the hiking trails, abundant wildlife, and gorgeous night sky. This is a very special place to unwind.

Ramsey Vista Campground

Great views from the top! 2.5 mile hikes up to Carr Peak or down to the Creek. The drive up is 5-10 mph, super steep and narrow, but a lot of fun and beautiful. Max stay is 14 days. Bathrooms and bear proof trash cans are just a few meters from each camp site. Hikes are also super navigable by the little ones! Great stay!
