We have been busy painting, cleaning and improving the grounds to become a comfortable oasis for your family. Our location on US Hwy 89 on the east side of the highway is only a few miles from the breathtaking aspens of Lockett Meadow, the ruins of Wupatki National Monument and the lava flows at Sunset Crater. The park is a short drive to downtown Flagstaff, and on the way to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Moab and Durango. Stay the night or as long as you like! Drink in the hibiscus sunrises above the Painted Desert and relax into the long shadows of the San Francisco Peaks. Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

and the popular red rock hiking sites. There are many wineries and dining right down the road to enjoy.

The wood stove kicks out a ton of heat to keep you toasty while you sip on steamy hot chocolate that is provided for your enjoyment. Gather around the propane operated firepit in the backyard for some R&R. Bring a hammock 'cuz there are unlimited opportunities for stringing one up! Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. The property is located approximately 2.1 miles off the main highway down a forest service road. The road is in excellent shape during the summer months. During winter you MUST have a 4WD vehicle to access the property, particularly if there has been a significant snowfall recently. During a snowy period, access may require either cross country skiing, snowshoeing or snowmobiling to the property from the main highway (approx 2.1 miles). If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter!

We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.

Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. If you get stuck on the road it will be your own responsibility. Please check with the owner a couple days prior to your visit to check on road conditions during the winter!

It has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, full kitchen with all appliances, cooking / eating utensils, dining and living area with 28' flat screen TV. We have coffee / tea to get you going in the morning. Pool availability is seasonal (May-October). There is a fire pit,horse shoe pits and BBQ also for your outdoor enjoyment.
Guest access
While you are here you can enjoy the pool, sit in the garden and listen to the sounds of the waterfall from the pond, or enjoy a game of horseshoes while you BBQ on the lanai. To complete your evening enjoy the night skies seated around your own private fire pit.
Other things to note
I do offer vortex yoga hikes by appointment. You can message me for cost and details. I am forest land use permitted to guide people out on the beautiful Sedona redrocks to experience yoga and nature.

Outdoor adventure seekers will be thrilled to know that OHV trails are conveniently nearby, providing an exhilarating experience in the rugged terrain. We can provide power with up to 50 amps, readily accessible on the side of our house. Please note that our water supply is currently under repair due to a "busted pipe," but we're more than happy to share the use of our hose during your stay.
As responsible hosts, we want to ensure a seamless experience for you, and therefore, a dump station is conveniently located nearby. And with the added advantage of being only minutes away from town, you'll have easy access to amenities and necessities.

We had a wonderful time at this Hipcamp! Jeannie was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived. She even gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations for our visit to the Grand Canyon, which we really appreciated.
The site had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was a very quiet and peaceful spot, making it the perfect place to rest and recharge at night after a long day of exploring. If you’re looking for a great location with a personal touch, this is it! We’d definitely stay here again.

WOW, what am amazing place to stay, relax, watch the sunrise, sunset and the starry sky. Easy access to Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon and the surrounding national monuments. They have room for all size RVs, tents, and boondockers. Shelly and Adam have done an amazing job with this place, including a new dog park. The Lodge has exercise equipment, a comfy sofa for tv viewing, a pool table, ping pong table and air hockey. They have food, snacks and fresh eggs for purchase. We were there 11 nights and hated to leave.

Gary and Darren's place is great and very well designed. Beautiful views, lots of places to sit around the camp, great shower and bathroom, a community room offering coffee, tea, snacks, and just about anything you really need or want.
They are super nice guys too.
We didnt have time to go to the water but we did enjoy a nice fire. I would go back.

An awesome spot to spend a little time. Convenient to several interesting sites that most people just drive by. We dry camped, lots of solar coming in. Also have laundry on site. You do notice a little road noise from Hwy 89, but not unbearable. Defiantly will spend a couple nights here when passing through in the future.
