Near Petrified Forest National Park
Within a 60-minute drive from the Rainbow Forest Museum.
Explore the Painted Desert wonderland to play around in and stargaze. The campsite is shared with Wild Horses, Pronghorns, Owls and Bovine that wander around the area. Look out to the south and a view of Petrified Forest National Park is right there. And when you're in the park, using binoculars, you can see the campsite from Pintado Point. Just search left from the towers. A fantastic campsite built by independent outdoor company @hetchyoutdoors This is a remote, private campground with a canopy, picnic bench and fire pit that relieves you from the crowds of hotels and RV campgrounds in the area. There are no predators or threats to worry about at night, just the the most stars in the sky you've probably ever seen. Great site!
Great site! Very clean - very secluded. Picnic table came in handy and we loved being able to have a campfire. Large area for our son to fly his model airplane. Ken was super responsive and directions to the site easy to follow.

Camping under the big sky!
Wide open quiet location! Off the beaten path but close to both Holbrook and petrified forest. Biiiiigggg sky. Clean campsite. Even found some fragments of petrified wood on the property. Ken was responsive to all correspondence. Had a great stay.

Sun Country
Great site for viewing the stars and chilling by the campfire. Virtually no chance of being bothered by other humans or wildlife, except maybe the nearby cows. Be well prepared for cold and windy nights. It is a bare bones camping experience. Gazebo and table provided were helpful for prepping food and camping gear. We will be saving the spot for future visits.

Needs cleaned up - epic star gazing
Not as pictured. There was a pile of trash and broken solar lights under the picnic table. The shade structure was just a frame with no roof. Cow poop all around. The highlight was definitely the stars once it became dark.

Solo splendor!
Such a treat to be out in open desert in a solo site. It really was beautiful, especially at sunset and dawn. I found the directions a little confusing and my sedan was not made for the wrong road I accidentally took, but Ken immediately responded to my distress call and helpfully guided me back to the correct turn. It was very peaceful, the quiet broken only by train horns in the distance and some coyote calls, and when I did wake in the night it was to look up at the amazing display of stars. The coyotes came fairly close in the morning when my dog barked back at them (I could see them in the brush when they moved) so suggest keeping dogs close to camp and under control especially at night. All in all a lovely experience, thanks Ken!

Sun Country
Awesome little primitive place right off the Highway but with tons of privacy. It was horizon to horizon views and incredible bright stars and really cool to watch the sunrise. It was a perfect spot for us on a drive from San Diego to Albuquerque. It’s also a great spot to camp next to the Petrified National Forest. Ken was super helpful with directions and even though some of the solar lights were off, with directions we found it in pitch dark no problem. Highly recommend this little gem and will be back!
