Tips for Snagging a Campsite Reservation
- During peak season, make plans as soon as you know your dates. Reservations can be made from one day up to six months in advance.
- Time your visit during the week or non-holiday periods if your plans are flexible.
- If traveling on foot or bicycle, try for one of the three hiker/biker campsites, available for walk-ups on a first-come, first-served basis.
When to Go
Peak season is between March and September. Visit in spring or early summer for the largest rapids on the Clackamas River. Family-oriented interpretive programs are also available in summer. Fish hatchery viewing is at its best over winter, while steelhead fishing is the most productive in March.
Know Before You Go
- Discs can be purchased or rented from the park office, while SUP and kayak rentals and tours are available through an affiliated outfitter at Estacada Lake. Paddlesport visitors should use the kayak launch on Estacada Lake.
- A valid fishing license is required of anyone over the age of 12.
- Bikes are permitted only on paved park roads and trails.
- Bring binoculars to go birdwatching for songbirds, migrating birds, ospreys, and bald eagles.
- Accessible facilities include one campsite, restrooms, showers, a kayak launch, fishing dock, and picnic areas.
- Firewood and ice are available for purchase at the park. Fire restrictions may be in place from time to time.
